British police recover Lohan's stolen bag
Call off the dogs: singer-actress Lindsay Lohan's orange Hermes bag, stolen from her at London's Heathrow Airport Thursday, has been recovered, British police said. "A member of the public contacted us to say they had found it and brought it in," Metropolitan Police said in a statement. "We have not yet established what, if anything, is missing." Yesterday, Lohan's publicist Leslie Sloane Zelnick said the handbag contained jewelry and the actress' asthma medicine. "She is begging for the return of the items," Sloane told the syndicated television show The Insider yesterday. "She doesn't care how she gets them back; she just wants her stuff back." Lohan, 20, was traveling through Heathrow on her way back from Venice, Italy, where she was promoting her new film, Bobby, directed by Emilio Estevez.

Metallica appears in Simpson premiere
Poor Otto. The longtime school bus driver in The Simpsons, which kicks off its 18th season this weekend, opens the premiere episode by seeing his cherished Grand Funk Railroad cassette tape broken by Lisa Simpson. Otto thinks his morning is saved when he spots Metallica, with their tour bus broken down on the side of the road. He offers them a ride in the bus, proclaiming his devotion to the metal vets, but the band takes a ride instead in the back of a pickup truck driven by Hans Moleman, and Bart Simpson takes Otto's school bus for a joy ride. The first seven minutes of the premiere episode is available for free viewing online today at several sites owned by Fox parent News Corp., including those of Fox and MySpace. Metallica recorded their voice parts for the episode nearly a year ago, but the animated show takes between six and nine months to complete an episode.
The White Stripes will be featured in the show's September 17 episode. Musicians have long made animated cameos on the show, with 50 Cent, Britney Spears, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, Lenny Kravitz, Tom Petty, The Who, U2, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Korn, Cypress Hill, Smashing Pumpkins, The Ramones, Paul McCartney, Sting, and Aerosmith all appearing in the past.
Tupac's mother postpones South Africa trip
The ashes of Tupac Shakur will not be spread in South Africa this weekend to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his death, as his mother Afeni Shakur has postponed her trip there, citing personal reasons. Shakur said today that she now plans to make the trip to spread her son's ashes for June 16, 2007, the 30th anniversary of the Soweto uprising as well as Tupac's 36th birthday. "My family and I regret that they must postpone the trip to South Africa to a later date, due to personal reasons," Shakur said in a statement. "We understand the work and time that everyone has put into making this trip possible, but the work of helping the children and sick of South Africa must continue."
The 10th anniversary of Tupac's death will now be commemorated in Atlanta at the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation tomorrow. Tupac was shot while driving in a car with Death Row Records founder Suge Knight in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996. He died six days later on September 13. His murder still remains unsolved.
