Kimmel loves the Killers

The Killers The Killers

The Killers are about to be all over late-night television. The Vegas rockers, set to release their sophomore album Sam's Town next Tuesday, will perform on Saturday Night Live this weekend. The band will follow up that show with three straight dates on ABC's late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, making them the first band to do so. From Tuesday, October 3, through Thursday, October 5, The Killers will perform their new hit single, "When You Were Young," along with such other well-known tracks as "Mr. Brightside" on multiple Jimmy Kimmel Live performance arenas, including the show's outdoor Pontiac Garage Stage. The band will participate in a signature Jimmy Kimmel Live comedy segment with Kimmel himself. "I love The Killers," Kimmel said in a statement. "I tried to convince them to play here every night. We settled on three."

Game fan gets tattoo to prove it

Shakira Williams (The Game fan) Shakira Williams (The Game fan)

Shakira Williams is a big fan of the Game.

A BIG fan.

The young lady got "The Game" permanently tattooed on her right shoulder live on MTV's TRL show yesterday. New York tattoo parlor Fun City Tattoo did the skin art as the Game looked on.

The rapper's sophomore album, Doctor's Advocate, hits stores November 14. The album features production from Scott Storch, Cool & Dre, and the Black Eyed Peas' Will.i.am, while guests include Mary J. Blige and Nas.

Doctor's Advocate has been led by "It's Okay (One Blood)," which features reggae star Junior Reid reprising the chorus of his own song of the same name. The song is No. 16 this week on Billboard's Hot Rap Songs chart. The album's first official single, "Let's Ride (Strip Club)," was produced by Storch and will hit radio next month. A video for the song will be released in October.

Report: Doherty bought syringes

Pete Doherty Pete Doherty

That didn't take long. UK newspaper The Sun reports that Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty was spotted buying syringes just three days after finishing a one-month, court-mandated rehab stint at the Priory clinic in London. The paper reports that Doherty was seen leaving the Health Express pharmacy in Dublin, where his band was performing three concerts this week. Press reports indicated that Doherty was set to marry on-again, off-again girlfriend Kate Moss in Ireland this weekend.

Audioslave's Morello arrested at LA protest

Tom Morello Tom Morello

Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello was arrested last night in Los Angeles at a protest march to raise awareness for immigrant hotel workers' rights. Morello performed at the event under his Nightwatchman alias. He was charged with unlawful assembly for refusing to move from Century Boulevard, the main entry road to Los Angeles International Airport. Morello was one of 400 protesters arrested at the event, which included a reported 2,000 people. The arrestees had planned to be arrested and even gave the Los Angeles Police Department their driver's license numbers days before the event to speed up processing.

Speaking before the march, he told MTV, "In these political dark ages, it's important for us to stand up for one another. These hotel workers by the airport make 20 percent less wages than hotel workers around the rest of Los Angeles. We're here to express our solidarity with them, to help them unionize, and to help them close the gap between their subpoverty wages and the millions and millions of dollars the people who own these hotels make."

Don Ho gets released from hospital

Don Ho Don Ho

Mr. "Tiny Bubbles" has gone home. Famed Hawaiian singer Don Ho was released yesterday from the hospital following a two-week stay after having a new pacemaker installed two weeks ago. In December, he underwent a new heart treatment in Thailand that hasn't been approved in the United States. The procedure involved taking multiplying stem cells from his blood and injecting them into his heart in hopes of strengthening it. Ho said Thursday he hasn't decided when to resume his show at the Ohana Waikiki Beachcomber hotel.

^ Really? Morello has been a long time activist for dozens of causes, this isn't that shocking; well, maybe as shocking as Doherty buying syringes...

Compton's own the Game (aka Jayceon Taylor) issued his debut LP The Documentary in 2004 through Aftermath/G Unit/Universal. Formed in spring 2004, just as the Libertines were beginning to fall apart, Baby Shambles became the main vessel for Pete Doherty's poetic, chaotic rock when he was ousted from the Libertines for his increasing drug use and erratic behavior. When Zack de la Rocha left Rage Against the Machine in October 2000, the band's future was put into question. Within months rumors flew that ex-Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell would replace de la Rocha. And gossip fueled truth, for Cornell joined the rest of Rage in the studio in May 2001. The mix was great and a musical bond was in the...

Given the short distance separating Audioslave's second album, Out of Exile, in 2005 and their third, Revelations, in 2006, it's easy to assume that the Rage Against the Machine/Soundgarden supergroup has finally turned into an actual working band -- either that or the group is working hard to get to the end of their contract so they can go...
