In the wake of his separation from Whitney Houston, Brown is sought in Massachusetts for failure to pay child support for two of his children.
Bobby Brown has bigger problems on his hands than his separation from Whitney Houston.
The controversial R&B singer now faces an arrest warrant in Massachusetts after failing to show up for a hearing yesterday on overdue child support payments for two of his children, teenage daughter La Princia and son Bobby Jr.
Brown, who was hit with divorce papers from Houston last month, reportedly owes Kim Ward, mother of two of his children, as much as $11,000, or two months of child support. His failure to appear at a hearing on the matter in Canton, Massachusetts, forced Norfolk District Court Judge Paula Carey to issue the warrant.
A Boston native, Brown surrendered last year to the same court after an arrest warrant was issued. In June 2004, the R&B star was sentenced to 90 days in prison for missing three months of payments, though the sentence was suspended after Brown made a $15,000 payment.
"If he were to come into Massachusetts, I don't know, let's say to a Patriots [football] game, he would be arrested," court official Patrick McDermott told Reuters, referring to the New England Patriots.
Attorneys for both parties could not be immediately reached for comment.
Last month, after a series of domestic disputes and drug-related problems, Houston filed for a legal separation after 14 years of marriage. She is working on a comeback album with music mogul Clive Davis, the man credited with helping Houston to skyrocket to fame in the 1980s.
Brown also has one daughter, Bobbi Kristina, with Houston, and an older son, Landon, with another woman.
