RedOctane names 40 songs for upcoming sequel, says there will be an additional 24 unlockable tracks.

Activision subsidiary RedOctane has long been mum on the track list for Guitar Hero II, saying only that it would include "more than 55" songs. But now a spokesperson for the publisher has said that the PlayStation 2 game will have 64 tracks in all, with 24 of those being unlockable bonus tracks.

Yes!!!! They put in RAge Against The Machine, Tom Morello IMO is the greatest guitarist ever. I would have liked to see some Black Flag(Greg Ginn) and Rancid(Matt Freeman, my favourite bass player).

I actually know (and like) a good deal of these songs. My favorites are Free Bird and Carry on Wayward Son. Can't wait to get GH2!

What's better: CD or LP? Many audiophiles favor LPs for sound quality, but CD wins on convenience and portability counts.

Black Sabbath Black Sabbath

Black Sabbath has been so influential in the development of heavy metal rock music as to be a defining force in the style. The group took the blues-rock sound of late '60s acts like Cream, Blue Cheer, and Vanilla Fudge to its logical conclusion, slowing the tempo, accentuating the bass, and emphasizing screaming guitar solos and howled vocals...

Guns N\' Roses Guns N' Roses

At a time when pop was dominated by dance music and pop-metal, Guns N' Roses brought raw, ugly rock & roll crashing back into the charts. They were not nice boys; nice boys don't play rock & roll. They were ugly, misogynist, and violent; they were also funny, vulnerable, and occasionally sensitive, as their breakthrough hit, "Sweet Child O'...

The Allman Brothers Band The Allman Brothers Band

The story of the Allman Brothers Band is one of triumph, tragedy, redemption, dissolution, and a new redemption. Over nearly 30 years, they've gone from being America's single most influential band to a has-been group trading on past glories, to reach the 21st century as one of the most respected rock acts of their era.

For the first...

The Police The Police

Nominally, the Police were punk rock, but that's only in the loosest sense of the term. The trio's nervous, reggae-injected pop/rock was punky, but it wasn't necessarily punk. All three members were considerably more technically proficient than the average punk or new wave band. Andy Summers had a precise guitar attack that created dense,...

Wolfmother Wolfmother

Truly a band out of time, Australian power trio Wolfmother were conceived in 2000 -- about 30 years too late, considering that their psychedelic brand of proto-heavy metal sounds like a ringer for late-'60s/early-'70s bands such as Blue Cheer and Black Sabbath. Comprised of vocalist/guitarist Andrew Stockdale, bassist/organist Chris Ross, and...

The Police
Although the Police's fifth release, 1983's Synchronicity, would be their most commercially successful and lead to a sold-out tour of enormodomes (including New York's Shea Stadium), it would turn out to be the trio's final album and tour. Like all Police recordings, Synchronicity contains some obvious "filler" (such as the silly dinosaur tale...
Wolfmother "Wolfmother"
Wolfmother
There's no denying Australian heavy rock trio Wolfmother has been raised on rock -- specifically, raised on '70s rock. Problem is, from all appearances on their eponymous debut, they made their journey into the past via the twin gateway drugs of the White Stripes and Queens of the Stone Age, and once they dug back to the original Zeppelin and...
