In-game soundtrack for upcoming skater game features usual dose of hip-hop, punk, rock; Gnarls, NIN, Toots, Hieroglyphics on board.

Ollies, McTwists, acid drops, and Saran Wraps just don't have street cred when performed to the tunes of Perry Como, Celine Dion, or polka king Jolly Joe Timmer. For the soundtrack of Tony Hawk's Project 8, Activision culled songs from recent memory and yesteryear, and there's not a waltz, muzak, or easy-listening tune in earshot.

Plus-44 Plus-44

The soundtrack is populated with 56 songs from rock, hip-hop, and punk artists all spanning a few decades. Among the new acts, such as Gnarls Barkley ("Gone Daddy Gone"), Wolfmother ("Woman"), and Kasabian ("Club Foot"), are classic bands, including Joy Division ("Interzone"), Kool and the Gang ("Summer Madness"), and The Ramones ("I Wanna Live"). The full soundtrack is listed below.

The new band featuring former Blink-182 members, Plus-44 (pictured), is using the soundtrack to debut a track from their forthcoming album When Your Heart Stops Beating. Gamers will be able to hear the song "Lycanthrope" in Project 8 a week before the album is released in mid-November.

Tony Hawk's Project 8, rated T for Teen, is scheduled for release November 7 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Xbox. A PlayStation 3 version is also in the works and will be released later this year. For more information, read GameSpot's previous coverage.

Should've tapped the Aquabats. They have a loyal, yet active skate-loving following.

Gnarls Barkley Gnarls Barkley

The Gnarls Barkley collaboration didn't bring producer Danger Mouse to the top of the British charts for the first time, but it did mark his debut as the pilot of a hit record. Mouse, born Brian Burton, first gained the ears of discriminating listeners when he concocted The Grey Album, a bootleg that mashed the vocals from The Black Album by...

Wolfmother Wolfmother

Truly a band out of time, Australian power trio Wolfmother were conceived in 2000 -- about 30 years too late, considering that their psychedelic brand of proto-heavy metal sounds like a ringer for late-'60s/early-'70s bands such as Blue Cheer and Black Sabbath. Comprised of vocalist/guitarist Andrew Stockdale, bassist/organist Chris Ross, and...

Forming during pop-punk trio blink-182's 2005 hiatus, (+44) -- pronounced Plus 44 -- brought blink alums Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus back together. Originally billed as a largely electronic-based project, their name came from the international dialing code to the United Kingdom, where the duo first discussed doing the project. The two...

Kasabian Kasabian

Finding the pop music around them dull and mannered, Kasabian mixed a bit of the Stones, Happy Mondays, and Primal Scream with DJ Shadow-influenced electronics to take the British press by storm. Named after Linda Kasabian, Charles Manson's getaway driver turned state witness, Leicester's Kasabian stole a page from Sun Ra and the Band, as the...

Who is Gnarls Barkley, and how did he ascend to the top of the British charts with a song that brings an eerie clarity to the cloud of mental illness? Wolfmother
There's no denying Australian heavy rock trio Wolfmother has been raised on rock -- specifically, raised on '70s rock. Problem is, from all appearances on their eponymous debut, they made their journey into the past via the twin gateway drugs of the White Stripes and Queens of the Stone Age, and once they dug back to the original Zeppelin and...

Practicing truth in advertising, U.K. rockers Kasabian move away from the revolutionary sleeve art that graced their debut and onto something more ornate for their elaborate follow-up album, Empire.
