Veteran funk rockers will team with breakout soul duo for a three-month US jaunt from January to March.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are set to tour the US in 2007 with Gnarls Barkley, combining a veteran funk-rock act with a penchant for rocking out in their underwear with 2006's breakout duo known for sporting lavish costumes on stage.

The Chili Peppers will be continuing their tour in support of their ninth album, Stadium Arcadium, which hit stores in May and was produced by Rick Rubin. The trek through US arenas will begin in January and continue through March, although specific dates have yet to be announced.

The Chili Peppers are on the road now, set to wrap up an arena run early next month. Stadium Arcadium was the band's first-ever No. 1 album on The Billboard 200 chart, led by the single "Dani California" and follow-up cut "Tell Me Baby."

The band is nominated for three American Music Awards, which will be presented November 21 in Los Angeles. While the Chili Peppers have been around since the early 1980s, Gnarls Barkley--producer Danger Mouse and singer Cee-Lo Green--has been the breakout group of 2006, riding the worldwide success of the hit "Crazy" to platinum sales of its debut album, St. Elsewhere.

The group started as a side project for the pair. Cee-Lo has released two solo albums and is set to reunite with the Atlanta hip-hop group he cofounded, Goodie Mob. Danger Mouse rose to fame by creating The Gray Album a mash-up of tracks from Jay-Z's Black Album and the Beatles' White Album. He also produced the second Gorillaz album, Demon Days.

Gnarls is prepping a limited-edition, deluxe package of St. Elsewhere for a November 7 release. The updated collection will include a 92-page booklet and a bonus DVD containing four music videos, as well as live recordings.

Few rock groups of the '80s broke down as many musical barriers and were as original as the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Creating an intoxicating new musical style by combining funk and punk rock together (with an explosive stage show, to boot), the Chili Peppers spawned a slew of imitators in their wake, but still managed to be the leaders of the...

Gnarls Barkley Gnarls Barkley

The Gnarls Barkley collaboration didn't bring producer Danger Mouse to the top of the British charts for the first time, but it did mark his debut as the pilot of a hit record. Mouse, born Brian Burton, first gained the ears of discriminating listeners when he concocted The Grey Album, a bootleg that mashed the vocals from The Black Album by...

Brian Burton, the man better known as DJ and producer Danger Mouse, was born in White Plains, NY, to a schoolteacher father and a social worker mother, but spent much of his childhood upstate in Spring Valley. When he was 13, his family moved to Stone Mountain, a suburb of Atlanta, where he was introduced to the hip-hop sounds of the South and...

Cee-Lo Cee-Lo

Multi-talented and flamboyant, Cee-Lo initially made a name for himself and his trademark crooning as part of pioneering Dirty South rappers Goodie Mob before he broke away in the early 2000s for a colorful solo route. Along with fellow Atlanta rappers OutKast, Goodie Mob laid out the blueprint for the Dirty South style during the mid-'90s,...

Indulgence has long been a way of life for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, yet they resisted the siren's call of the double album until 2006's Stadium Arcadium. Sure, 1991's breakthrough Blood Sugar Sex Magik was as long as a classic double LP, but such distinctions mattered little in the era when vinyl gave way to CD, and they matter less now, as...

Who is Gnarls Barkley, and how did he ascend to the top of the British charts with a song that brings an eerie clarity to the cloud of mental illness? Cee-Lo's debut album had been an interesting listen but resonated with very few listeners, so some changes were due for his second go-round, Cee-Lo Green Is the Soul Machine, which is indeed a drastically improved effort. Arista head honcho L.A. Reid had no doubt let Cee-Lo fly his freak flag high and mighty for Cee-Lo Green and His Perfect...
