Chilis, T.I., others rock for Zune launch

Microsoft lines up six free, not-so-secret shows in six cities today, with Queens of the Stone Age, Lupe Fiasco, Secret Machines, and Morgan Heritage Band also set to perform.

With its much-hyped Zune player and digital store set to hit stores tomorrow, Microsoft has brought in some big guns to take the hype up a notch.

The Seattle software giant has lined up six free concerts in six cities today, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers set to perform in Los Angeles tonight and T.I. bouncing in his hometown of Atlanta this afternoon.

Queens of the Stone Age will play a set in New York tonight, while Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco will perform in the Windy City this afternoon. Reggae act Morgan Heritage Band will perform this evening in Miami.

Microsoft has largely kept a lid on the venue details but that info has slowly leaked out.

Here are the details:


New York City: Queens of the Stone Age (9 p.m.) -- The Box (189 Chrystie Street, NYC)

Los Angeles: Red Hot Chili Peppers (8 p.m.)

Atlanta: T.I. (3:30 p.m.) -- The Underground

Chicago: Lupe Fiasco (4:45 p.m.) -- 401 N. Michigan, Chicago

Miami: Morgan Heritage Band & Richie Spice (5:30 p.m.) -- South Beach (in front of the Clevelander)

Seattle: The Secret Machines (11:50 a.m.) -- West Lake Plaza
