UK rockers are "keen to play some intimate shows" in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico starting in February.

Coldplay fans in Latin America will hear the band's new material first, as the quartet said today that it plans to road test new songs on a 10-song trek through Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico in February.

The UK rockers are currently working on their fourth album, which is tipped for a late 2007 release on Capitol Records. The album will be the follow-up to 2005's X&Y, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was the top-selling album in the world in 2005 with 8.3 million copies sold.

Frontman Chris Martin had hinted at a brief hiatus since then, a move that dented Capitol parent EMI's share price and sent label reps currying to assure investors that the band would be back in the studio.

They've done just that, and Martin unveiled one new song at a solo charity performance in London last weekend. The song is called "Bucket for a Crown," Martin joked afterwards, "If it's s***, we'll give it to The Killers, and if it's good, we'll keep it."

The trek will kick off February 14-16 with three shows with in Santiago, Chile, and will run through a March 3 show in Mexico City.

"Having received such a phenomenal response to their last Latin American trip in 2003, [the band] personally chose to return to the region," the band posted on its Web site, which contains info about where and when to buy tickets.

The Coldplay tour dates:

2/14-16: Santiago, Chile - Espacio Riesco

2/20-22: Buenos Aires - Gran Rex

2/26-28: Sao Paulo - Via

3/3: Mexico City - National Auditorium

Coldplay never intended to become England's favorite rock & roll sons when their signature rock melodies ruled the charts throughout 2000. The Brit rock quartet -- composed of Chris Martin (vocals/piano), Jon Buckland (guitar), Will Champion (drums), and Guy Berryman (bass) -- yearned to mess around a bit, plucking their own acoustics for fun...
