Britney hints at regret for binge

BFFs. BFFs.

On the heels of a well-documented partying binge with Paris Hilton, including a series of paparazzi photographs of her unfurnished basement, Britney Spears has admitted that she may have had a bit too much fun in the weeks following her divorce filing from Kevin Federline. In a post to her Web site today, Spears wrote, "It's been so long since I've been out on the town with friends. It's also been 2 years since I've even celebrated my birthday. Every move I make at this point has been magnified more than I expected, and I probably did take my new found freedom a little too far." Spears hinted at the backlash from her panty-less partying, joking, "Anyway, thank god for Victoria's Secrets' new underwear line! I look forward to a new year, new music and a new me."

The bond Spears developed recently with famous heiress Paris Hilton had another rather noteworthy consequence: Hilton has been inspired by Spears to have children. "I know in my heart of hearts I would be a great mother," Hilton told the London Mirror. "I have a lot of beautiful animals that I look after and I feel that I would have a lot to give to my children. And I don't want to be an old mom--hopefully it'll happen soon, within the next five years."

Madonna inks extension of H&M deal

Madonna has extended her deal with Hennes & Mauritz, Europe's largest fashion retailer, for more H&M clothing endorsed by the pop star and designed by Margareta van den Bosch, H&M's head of design. The "M by Madonna" women's wear collection, scheduled to be launched globally in March, will "reflect Madonna's timelessness, unique, and always glamorous style," the company said today. "I've made no secret of my love for fashion and trends," Madonna said in a statement. "Working with Margareta and H&M was an exciting and new creative challenge for me. I'm really happy with the results and look forward to wearing 'M by Madonna' along with the rest of the world." Madonna was the face of H&M's fall campaign that saw the company supply Madonna and her entourage with an offstage wardrobe for her "Confessions" world tour.

Oklahoma City names alley after Flaming Lips

The Flaming Lips The Flaming Lips

The City Council of Oklahoma City voted to honor native sons the Flaming Lips this week by naming a street after the eclectic alt-rockers. Well, more of an alley. An alley that may or may not be "littered with open dumpsters and poorly lit at night," according to the Oklahoman newspaper. The alley is located in Bricktown, the city's blossoming entertainment and restaurant district, and Lips frontman Wayne Coyne is happy for the alley, regardless of its condition. "I could see people sneaking in during the middle of the night doing graffiti art," frontman Wayne Coyne told the Associated Press. "I can see all kinds of strange things going on there."

Ghostface inks deal for biography

Ghostface Killah Ghostface Killah

Its controversial book deal for O.J. Simpson's hypothetical double-murder confession might have been a fiasco, but at least ReganBooks has Ghostface Killah. The Wu-Tang rapper confirmed this week that he has a book deal for his biography with Regan and expects the tome to hit stores in November 2007. The tentative title of the book is Iron Man: True Reflections from the Soul of the Wu-Tang Clan. ReganBooks focuses on celebrity authors and controversial topics, sometimes from recent tabloids. Prominent titles include Jenna Jameson's How to Make Love Like a Porn Star and biographies by radio talk show host Howard Stern and hip-hop groupie Karrine Steffans.

Megadeth preps live DVD

Megadeth Megadeth

Metal veterans Megadeth are readying a live DVD culled from a 2005 concert in Argentina, set for a March 6 release. The DVD, dubbed, That One Night: Live in Buenos Aires, was recorded during the band's October 9, 2005, concert at Obras Stadium in Buenos Aires. The set list draws from a number of albums over the band's career from 1986 to 2004, including tracks like "Wake Up Dead," "A Tout le Monde," and an alternate version of "Symphony of Destruction." The Dave Mustaine-led quartet is currently preparing another full-length for indie label Roadrunner Records, the follow-up to 2004's The System Has Failed.

Britney Spears Britney Spears

More than any other single artist, Britney Spears was the driving force behind the return of teen pop in the late '90s. The blockbuster success of the Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys certainly paved the way for her own commercial breakthrough, but Spears didn't just become a star -- she was a bona fide pop phenomenon. Not only did she sell...

Madonna Madonna

After a star reaches a certain point, it's easy to forget what they became famous for and concentrate solely on their persona. Madonna is such a star. Madonna rocketed to stardom so quickly in 1984 that it obscured most of her musical virtues. Appreciating her music became even more difficult as the decade wore on, as discussing her lifestyle...

The Flaming Lips The Flaming Lips

Even within the eclectic world of alternative rock, few bands were so brave, so frequently brilliant, and so deliciously weird as the Flaming Lips. From their beginnings as Oklahoma weirdos to their pop culture breakthrough in the mid-'90s to their status as one of the most respected groups of the 2000s, the Lips have ridden one of the more...

Ghostface Killah Ghostface Killah

As one of the original members of the seminal '90s rap crew the Wu-Tang Clan, Ghostface Killah (aka Tony Starks) made an impact before he released his debut album, Ironman, late in 1996. Like all members of the Wu-Tang Clan, the rapper used the group as a launching pad for a solo career, which was assisted greatly by other members of the Clan,...
