Conor Oberst and friends will release their next album, Cassadaga, on April 10; February tour planned as well.
Conor Oberst's Bright Eyes are doing it big in 2007.
Oberst said today that his next album, Cassadaga, will hit stores April 10 on his label Saddle Creek. It will be preceded by a six-song EP dubbed Four Winds on March 6, and a tour is set to kick off in February, with dates TBA.
The current configuration of Bright Eyes is leader Conor Oberst, Mike Mogis, and Nate Walcott. Cassadaga is set to feature guest contributors like M. Ward, Gillian Welch, and former Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss. The title cut of Four Winds will be the first single off the album, Obert said on his Web site, and the other five tracks are exclusive b-sides.
"We really wanted to be experimental with this one," Oberst said in a statement. "Sort of folky, trippy, and hopefully a little more cosmic."
The new album will be the follow-up to the two separately released projects from Bright Eyes in 2005, I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning and Digital Ash in a Digital Urn. Those sets have sold a combined 622,000 copies in the US, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The track list for Four Winds:
1. "Four Winds"
2. "Reinvent the Wheel"
3. "Smoke Without Fire"
4. "Stray Dog Freedom"
5. "Cartoon Blues"
6. "Tourist Trap"
