Madonna set to release concert CD-DVD

Madonna Madonna

Madonna is taking her 2006 Confessions Tour--the highest-grossing tour ever for a female artist--to your living room. The pop star is set to release The Confessions Tour, a live concert CD and DVD from the tour, just seven months after releasing the live album and DVD I'm Going to Tell You a Secret, which was culled from her earlier Re-Invention tour. The new concert album and DVD are taken directly from Madonna's show at Wembley Arena in London. The CD and DVD will be released by Warner Music on January 30. The CD and DVD will include tracks from her 2005 album, Confessions on a Dance Floor, as well as classics like "Like a Virgin," "Lucky Star," and "Live to Tell."

Moss denies marriage to Doherty

Doherty and Kate Moss. Doherty and Kate Moss.

Following reports that she had tied the knot with Baby Shambles frontman Pete Doherty in a Buddhist ceremony in Thailand on New Year's Day, a spokesman for supermodel Kate Moss denied the claims. "There has not been any kind of marriage ceremony in Thailand. [Moss] is on holiday," the model's representative told the Associated Press, adding that the British tabloid reports of the nuptials are "entirely false." No hotels have confirmed the couple as guests in the resort region of Phuket where the couple was reportedly staying. British tabloid The Sun reported that the ceremony in Thailand wasn't legally binding in Britain and that the couple are eyeing January 18 as their official wedding day.

Music legends' offspring in court battle

Marvin Gaye Marvin Gaye

Claiming he was attacked by "four large dogs" at the Hollywood home of Marvin Gaye III in 2005, the son of legendary singer Lou Rawls filed a lawsuit late last week against the son of the Motown legend. In a complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Lou Rawls Jr. claims the dogs "bit, clawed, and physically and mentally injured" him, causing him to suffer "loss of blood, tearing of flesh, multiple dog bite wounds, fear of disease," and other injuries, according to court documents. He is seeking unspecified damages. Rawls, regarded as one of the great R&B and soul singers of his generation, died in January 2006 after a long bout with cancer. Gaye III is the eldest son of soul icon Marvin Gaye and has control of his father's estate.

Lily Allen worried about her stolen dog

Maggie May Maggie May

UK singer Lily Allen, one of the breakout artists of 2006, is distraught over the theft of her dog. In a post to her MySpace blog, the singer said she left her dog Maggie May in the care of a friend while she was in Jamaica over the holidays. The dog was stolen from the friend's van in London, she wrote. "Not only am I devastated that my dog has been taken away, but I am also concerned for her well being," she wrote. "She needs an operation on her stomach and is having medical treatment. There is a reward. Please anyone help. No one will be angry--me and my family just want Maggie home."

Styles P hurt in road rage incident

Styles P Styles P

A road rage incident outside of New York City has left rapper Styles P with a broken leg and another fearing the loss of his home. According to The Journal News in Westchester County, New York, Styles P--real name David Styles--was driving his 2003 Mercedes-Benz on December 23 when he was cut off by a truck. Styles reportedly returned the favor, and both vehicles stopped. The rapper then threw napkins at the truck, and the truck driver then smashed into Styles' car and leg. The rapper suffered a broken leg, was taken to Westchester Medical Center for treatment, and was later released. The driver of the truck was 50-year-old John Henson, who was arrested and charged with second-degree assault. Henson spent a night in jail and told police that he feared "for his safety" when the rapper got back into his car after throwing the napkins. He is scheduled to appear in Town Court on January 2. He told The Journal News that he was sorry for the incident and that he had been suspended from his trucking job and was afraid he'd be unable to make mortgage payments on his home as a result.

After a star reaches a certain point, it's easy to forget what they became famous for and concentrate solely on their persona. Madonna is such a star. Madonna rocketed to stardom so quickly in 1984 that it obscured most of her musical virtues. Appreciating her music became even more difficult as the decade wore on, as discussing her lifestyle...

Like most British pop, Lily Allen's debut album, Alright, Still, overflows with impeccably shiny, creative productions.
