Icelandic singer also works with African artists Toumani Diabate and Konono No. 1 on forthcoming record, according to a post on her site.
One can always count on Björk to assemble a mixed bag of collaborators, and it seems like she's at it again for her forthcoming album.
According to a post on her Web site, the Icelandic singer has been working with "SexyBack" producer Timbaland, much-acclaimed androgynous singer Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons, Congo-based electric thumb pianists Kononos No. 1, and kora player Toumani Diabate from Mali.
Lightning Bolt's Brian Chippendale also contributed to the album, and Icelandic scribe Sjon wrote some lyrics. Frequent Björk producer Mark Bell is also involved.
The as-yet-untitled album, set for a "late spring" release via Atlantic, will be Björk's follow-up to 2004's Medulla, which featured the likes of Mike Patton, Rahzel, Matmos, and Robert Wyatt.
"This record is a Björk production par excellence," the site said. "No stone left unturned to seek out the perfect pitch."
