Rockers are set to play two summer music festivals in Germany, sharing a bill with the likes of Linkin Park, Korn, Slayer, Dave Matthews Band, and My Chemical Romance.
The Smashing Pumpkins--or at least what's left of them--are set to play two music festivals in Germany this summer, marking their first return to the stage since 2000.
According to a post on the band's Web site, the Chicago-based rock group is set to headline the two-day sibling festival Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in Nuremberg, Germany on June 2-3. The event's bill also includes the likes of Linkin Park, Korn, Slayer, Dave Matthews Band, My Chemical Romance, Muse, the Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs, the Kooks, and Wolfmother.
The band is believed to be comprised only of frontman Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain. Founding guitarist James Iha and bassist D'Arcy Wretzky, as well as former Hole bassist Melissa Auf Der Maur, who replaced Wretzky in 2000, are not believed to be involved.
The band has recorded a comeback album, set to hit stores in late spring or early summer.
"For many years there were private laments about opportunities missed and hearts so broken, but no more...we have turned the page and moved on, from places and faces, names and games," Corgan wrote earlier this month on the band's MySpace site.
Tickets for the festivals are on sale at this site.
