With their new album in stores today, rockers are set to headline trek that also features (+44), The Academy Is, Paul Wall, and Cobra Starship.
Following in the footsteps of acts like Black Eyed Peas, blink-182, Incubus, and Maroon 5, Fall Out Boy has been picked to headline the forthcoming Honda Civic Tour, the dates for which were announced this week.
The Chicago-based emo rockers, whose new album, Infinity on High, hits stores today, will be joined on the tour by (+44), the band founded by blink-182 alums Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus, as well as The Academy Is, Paul Wall, and Cobra Starship.
The tour will kick off April 18 at the Verizon Amphitheater in Charlotte, North Carolina, stopping at 40 cities along the way. The jaunt will conclude on June 10 and 11 with two shows at the Charter One Pavillion in Fall Out Boy's hometown of Chicago.
"We designed our tour to have tickets as cheap as possible and have as much floor space as possible which we weren't able to do that in the past," Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz said in a statement. "With our partnership with Honda we've been able to create something that's cool, and stay really tight with our fan base."
Tickets go on sale February 17, although fans that buy Infinity on High at Target stores will receive a code for exclusive presale access to purchase tickets at the tour's Web site.
As part of the tour, Fall Out Boy designed special custom features for a Honda Civic Hybrid, which will be displayed on tour with the band and showcased at each venue. Throughout the tour, fans will have the opportunity to enter the customized car.
"I think one of the coolest things on the Honda Civic Tour is that we created these customized cars, and to be able to give away a customized Honda Civic Hybrid to our fans is really insanely huge--if we had been able to get that from a band, I think we would have freaked out," Wentz said.
