Beyonce, Blige lead Soul Train noms
Jay-Z's squeeze is up for awards for her album B'Day and smash single "Irreplaceable"; seven others receive two nods each.
Awards season has not been terribly kind to Beyonce so far in 2007, but the singer continues to rack up nominations nonetheless.
Beyonce landed three Soul Train Music Award nominations today, leading all nominees, while Mary J. Blige, Chris Brown, John Legend, Ne-Yo, Gnarls Barkley, Yung Joc, and the Isley Brothers featuring Ronald Isley all landed two apiece.
The Soul Train Music Awards, determined by a panel of radio programmers, artists, and retailers, will be handed out March 10 in Pasadena, California, at a ceremony cohosted by singers LeToya and Omarion. The show will be televised in national syndication the week of March 17-24.
With her costarring turn in the hit musical feature film Dreamgirls and her own smash album, B'Day, Beyonce has been poised to dominate awards season in early 2007. The singer nabbed four Grammy nominations, but none in the major categories of album, record, and song of the year. She lost out on a Golden Globe Award for best actress in a musical or comedy and wasn't nominated for an Academy Award.
