Noel Gallagher blasts U2, Radiohead frontmen

Oasis' Liam and Noel Gallagher. Oasis' Liam and Noel Gallagher.

Noel Gallagher puts people on blast like it's his job. Speaking to UK newspaper The Telegraph prior to the band's outstanding achievement honor at next week's Brit Awards, the Oasis guitarist took both U2 frontman Bono and Radiohead singer Thom Yorke to task for their charity-related efforts. Yorke, who is nominated for Best British Male artist for his debut solo album, Eraser, was first up on the chopping block.

"Thom Yorke sat at a piano singing, 'This is f***ed up' for half an hour," Gallagher said. "We all know that, Mr. Yorke. Who wants to sing the news? No matter how much you sit there twiddling, going, 'We're all doomed,' at the end of the day people will always want to hear you play 'Creep.' Get over it." Bono was up next. "It's the same with U2. Play 'One,' [and] shut the f*** up about Africa."

Gallagher even had some choice words for his brother, Oasis frontman Liam: "[He] talks out of his [a**] 23 hours of the day. You say, 'Hey, Liam, what about putting a choir on that song?' 'Brilliant, yeah, f***ing choir, man. Top.' Then someone will go, 'Choir? That's a bit poncey isn't it?' 'Yeah, no, choirs are s***, mate, f***ing rubbish.' So you can have good fun with Liam in the studio."

"If we weren't related, Oasis would have ended after a couple of records," he continued. "But I have always got to put up with Liam. There's always Christmas and kids' birthday parties. And, as bad as it sometimes is being in the band together, I think it would be worse for each of us not working with each other." Awwwww...

Timberlake places d*** in box

Samberg and Timberlake at MSG. Samberg and Timberlake at MSG.

Justin Timberlake brought the full package to his show at Madison Square Garden in New York City last night. For the first time since his much-ballyhooed stint on Saturday Night Live last December, the singer jumped into his best Color Me Badd-esque garb, brought SNL's Andy Samberg on stage, and reprised their rendition of "D*** in a Box," complete with appropriately placed, umm, boxes.

Prince Super Bowl bandana on eBay

Prince at the Super Bowl Prince at the Super Bowl

The bandana that kept Prince's hair from getting mussed up during his Super Bowl performance last Sunday is up on eBay, or at least that what its seller claims. The auction of the item has three days left and bids are currently at $570.

"I was lucky enough to catch Prince's black bandana when he threw it off stage last night during the Super Bowl," the seller explains. "It still even smells like hairspray and sweat. It's all dry now, but still cool, it's like having Prince right there with you!!!"

R. Kelly has surgery, misses hearing

R. Kelly R. Kelly

Something about child porn charges does not agree with the appendix of R. Kelly. The R&B singer had to undergo surgery for a burst appendix Sunday, forcing him to miss a court appearance on child pornography charges this week, his lawyer told the Associated Press. Attorney Terence Gillespie said the 40-year-old singer--full name Robert Kelly--had surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, and was expected to return home late yesterday. Kelly has pleaded not guilty to 14 counts of child pornography and is awaiting trial. Kelly was charged in 2002 with engaging in videotaped sex acts with an underage girl. Kelly was in Miami to perform at a Super Bowl party over the weekend. The singer's next court date is February 21, and Gillespie said he expected Kelly to be there.

Sirius to launch Sinatra channel

Frank Sinatra Frank Sinatra

Frank Sinatra is coming to satellite radio. Sirius Satellite Radio said today that it is launching a channel dedicated to Ol' Blue Eyes, with his daughter Nancy Sinatra set to host a show, and made more than 1,700 songs available for it. "I want his legacy to continue through this century and into the next," Sinatra said at the launch of the channel, which will use family archives and dedicate more than half its playlist to her father. "We're feeding a hungry public." Sirius rival XM Radio has a similar channel, previously called Frank's Place but recently renamed High Standards, which features Sinatra and such contemporaries as Bing Crosby and Ella Fitzgerald.

I have to almost completely agree with Kaizen4! I think it is important that people are made aware of atrocities, injustice, and bad all around the world (especially in this day and age). However, I do not think it is the place of musicians (decent ones anyway) to pummel me with it every time i see them or watch them. That is what the news it for! To make a reference to it once in a while and show you are concerned... I think that is fine. Cramming it down everyones throats, not cool. I care about the state of the world and think it is important but in all honesty, not everyone does. In conclusion, I always looked towards musicians (specifically their music) to evoke feelings and creative thought. Like a stepping stone, inspiration, take your meaning from it all that blah but what U2 , Radiohead, Dixie Chicks, and others do is not appropriate during a performance people payed good money to go see..... For the record this does not necessarily mean I approve of Noel's handling of the situation. I think he could have found a much better way to say what he did, without coming off as arrogant !

Noel Gallagher has lost relevance and is lashing out.

I don't think Bono should shut-up. Afterall, a measure of society is how it takes care of its poor. And the world is a "tiny bubble" as Paul McCartney would say.

How dare they insult U2!

Noel has got a chip on his shoulder - he needs to shut up and play "Wonderwall," although most of their music sounds pretty much the same anyway. There really are more than three chords there, Noel! If you look at U2's nearly-30 year career, their music styles changed a lot. Even Radiohead as well in the last 15 years - their five albums are as varied as anything else out there.

Noel Gallagher is a loser and is the one who should shut up. Oasis is probably the most overrated British band ever. I'm sick of hearing him badmouth other musicians. I guess that's the best way for him to generate publicity.

I've got to agree with Noel on the whole U2 and Radio Head thing. You're musicians - make music! Stop preaching to us about how wrong the real world is, we know - we live in it. All the while, you two sit in your mansions and get paid way too much for singing (Let's be honest) drab, boring, preachy music.

If you care SO much about Africa Bono, why don't you donate ALL proceeds from your next album? You can afford to live without that money and you can certainly afford to self fund the album. STOP asking me, on my minimum wage, to save corrupt governments...Thanks.

You know what, I really think Noel Gallagher should shut up. I appreciate the man as an artist, I'm a big Oasis fan, but the guy needs to hold his tongue once in a while. These guys are some of the greatest artists of our time. I mean, where would we be without Radiohead? They've created so much with so little, they inspire me everyday. They are WAY more than just Creep, as Gallagher ranted, and Thom Yorke is a brilliant man with an incredible songwriting talent. Noel is just a completely arrogant bastard these days. I say this on behalf of Radiohead fans everywhere, just play Wonderwall and shut the f*ck up about Bono.

U2 U2

Through a combination of zealous righteousness and post-punk experimentalism, U2 became one of the most popular rock & roll bands of the '80s. The Edge provided...

Thom Yorke Thom Yorke

Few rock singers of the '90s were as original and instantly unforgettable as Thom Yorke, as his band, Radiohead, became one of the biggest bands of the 21st century after making a career out of specializing in challenging and unpredictable rock. Born October 7, 1968, in Wellingborough, England, Yorke was born with a vision ailment: his left eye...

Radiohead Radiohead

Radiohead was one of the few alternative bands of the early '90s to draw heavily from the grandiose arena rock that characterized U2's early albums. But the band internalized that epic sweep, turning it inside out to tell tortured, twisted tales of angst and alienation. Vocalist Thom Yorke's pained lyrics were brought to life by the group's...

Ever since the beginning of their career, U2 had a sense of purpose and played on a larger scale than their peers, so when they stumbled with the knowing rocktronica fusion of 1997's Pop -- the lone critical and commercial flop in their catalog -- it was enough to shake the perception held among fans and critics, perhaps even among the group...

Thom Yorke
The Eraser, Thom Yorke's first album away from Radiohead, is intensely focused and steady. It doesn't have the dynamics -- the shifts of mood, tempo, volume -- held by any Radiohead album, and it's predominantly electronic, so it's bound to rankle many of the fans who thought Kid A was too unhinged from rock & roll.
