Beyonce, Shakira duet for B'Day rerelease
In a move that surely has teenage boys wishing for a music video, Beyonce and Shakira have recorded a duet for the rerelease of Beyonce's album B'Day. The updated version of the album, which hits stores April 3, will include the song "Beautiful Liar," which features Beyonce and Shakira crooning about a man who has eyes for both of them. "It basically talks about two women," Beyonce told MTV News. "The same guy is trying to get at both of them, but instead of them fighting, they're saying, 'He's a beautiful liar, let's not fight, let's stick together--forget him!' I think it's a great concept." The new version of the album will also include new songs called "If" and "Flaws & All." Disc two of the expanded release will feature six Spanish-language tracks, including "Amor Gitano," a duet with singer Alejandro Fernandez.
Cold Case episode to feature Dylan songs
The producers of hit CBS drama Cold Case are filling an entire episode with Bob Dylan songs. The February 18 episode, aptly dubbed "Blood on the Tracks," will feature Dylan songs exclusively, plus a storyline loosely based on the eight tracks. Dylan's music will not only serve as a soundtrack to the episode but also as the inspiration for the episode's plot. The Dylan episode will feature the songs "The Times They Are A-Changin,'" "All Along the Watchtower," "Ballad of a Thin Man," "Thunder on the Mountain," "Positively Fourth Street," "Knockin' on Heaven's Door," "Simple Twist of Fate," and "Like a Rolling Stone." Cold Case has previously built episodes on the music of Bruce Springsteen and U2, and episodes based on the music of Elton John and Boyz II Men are on the way (the show is based in Philly, after all).
Iron Maiden to perform in India
Iron Maiden is set to perform in India for the first time in a March 17 show at Bangalore's Palace. The band's most recent album, A Matter Of Life And Death, rose to No. 2 on the Indian charts, the highest ever chart position in India for any rock act. "To say we're all really looking forward to going to Bangalore is something of an understatement," singer Bruce Dickinson said in a statement. "It's very special to us to be able to play to new fans in countries we've never been to before. We are crafting a special set to include both songs from A Matter Of Life and Death and a load of other favorites."
Robbie Williams reportedly enters rehab
Looking to combat an addiction to prescription drugs, Robbie Williams has checked himself into a rehab facility, according to a report in UK newspaper The Sun. The singer's spokesperson confirmed the move to the paper. "Robbie Williams has today been admitted into a treatment center in America for his dependency on prescription drugs," Byron Watts said. "There will be no further comment on this matter." Williams, who turned 33 today, has entered rehab several times in the past for treatment of addictions to alcohol and drugs.
Doherty loses driving privileges
Pete Doherty has been fined £300 ($584) and lost his driving privileges for two months for driving without insurance and a license in a November 2006 incident for which he also faces drug charges. Doherty's defense counsel Sean Curran told the court he was eligible for a license but had not applied for one after passing his driving test. "Mr. Doherty accepts that he was driving with no license and insurance. He had left the task of getting an insurance policy in the hands of one of his managers, who hadn't done so." Two other driving related charges were dropped.
