Beat conductor, label chief team up for LA-centric Time Out magazine's CD/DVD combo; Wolf also posts free Valentine's Day mix.

Madlib and Peanut Butter Wolf, two cornerstones of acclaimed indie hip-hop label Stones Throw Records, are teaming up for a CD/DVD tribute to their hometown City of Angels.

The Other Side Los Angeles, which will hit stores May 8, is the fifth installment in a series from Time Out magazine and Deaf Dumb & Blind Recordings.

Madlib, a native of LA neighbor Oxnard, California, put together a mixed audio tour of the city, featuring a host of his own tracks under his Beat Konducta moniker and from his Jaylib collaboration with the late J Dilla. The compilation also features tracks from Sun Ra Arkestra, Outlaw Blues Band, Burning Spear drummer Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace, reggae vet Prince Jazzbo, and Freestyle Fellowship.

Peanut Butter Wolf's DVD acts as a tour guide to the city, delivering sights and sounds of LA, a lengthy interview, and several music videos from Stone's Throw artists.

The always-busy Wolf has also put together a Valentine's Day mix and posted it on his label's Web site for free download through the end of the day. The mix contains a wealth of classic soul tracks, including "I Wanna Be Where You Are" by Marvin Gaye and "Blacks & Blues" by Bobbi Humphrey, as well as more eclectic picks like Stereolab's "Need to Be."
