Rage, Wu-Tang to hit the road

Rage Against the Machine Rage Against the Machine

In the days after Rage Against the Machine's surprise announcement that they would reunite for a performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, many fans were left wondering if the band planned to play additional dates. Today, concert promoter Guerilla Union said that Rage would be teaming up with the Wu-Tang Clan for three dates of its long-running Rock the Bells festival. The LA-based protest rock quartet will team with the Shaolin rap group in New York; San Bernardino, California; and San Francisco. "Rage will do four shows and just four in 2007," event organizer Chang Weisberg said. "Coachella is first, that's the granddaddy. And now these three with the Wu Tang Clan represent a very, very special thing."

Rock the Bells tour dates:

7/28 - Randall's Island - New York, NY

8/11 - Nos Events Center - San Bernardino, CA

8/18 - Venue TBA - San Francisco, CA

George Harrison receives tribute in Hollywood

George Harrison George Harrison

Beatles gathered outside the Capitol Records Tower in Hollywood over the weekend to sing a tribute to George Harrison, who would have turned 64 Saturday. Harrison died in 2001 after a long battle with cancer. Members of the peace activist group Alliance for Survival sang the song, "Will you still need me when I'm 64?" to mark the occasion. The event also featured poetry, spoken word tributes, and a cake-cutting ceremony. Really, you had to be there.

Lily Allen bites back at Lady Sov

Lily Allen Lily Allen

C-c-c-c-Cat Fight! When she's not ducking jelly donut MCs or bashing Grammy nominees like Corinne Bailey Rae, Lady Sovereign has been blasting fellow British newcomer Lily Allen. Late last week, Sovereign said Allen has only been successful because she has had a helping hand from her dad, top British comedian Keith Allen. "I'm not hating on her, but someone like Lily Allen, just because her dad's famous, doesn't have to work as hard as someone like me," she said. Alen then fired back, suggesting that Lady Sov find a way to get adopted by Keith Allen. "I've spoken to my dad and he says he'd be happy to adopt you if you think it will give you a leg up," the pop singer quipped.

Misdemeanor assault charge against Hank Jr. dropped

Hank Williams Jr. Hank Williams Jr.

A misdemeanor assault case against Hank Williams Jr. has been dismissed, nearly a year after a cocktail waitress accused the country singer of yelling obscenities and choking her at a local hotel, a prosecutor said. "We didn't feel we had a case we could prove," District Attorney General Bill Gibbons told the Associated Press. Holly Hornbeak, who was 19 at the time of the alleged assault last March, testified that Williams, 57, left red marks and bruised her neck when he choked her. Gibbons would not say whether Hornbeak wanted to drop the case or if the parties reached a financial settlement. A private attorney hired by her parents demanded $250,000 from Williams two days after the alleged assault, but Hornbeak denied that the case was driven by money. Earlier this month, Williams filed for divorce from his fourth wife, Mary Jane.

Keith Sweat gets syndicated radio show

Keith Sweat is ready to take his own brand of pillow talk to the airwaves. The veteran R&B singer is set to launch his new radio show, The Keith Sweat Hotel, tonight from 7 p.m. to midnight in all time zones on the Premiere Radio Networks. Sweat will broadcast live from Atlanta. "We all have cravings for certain things in life, and this is one of mine," Sweat told Billboard of his foray into radio. "I'm very much into the street and know what people want to hear. What I'll bring is a grown and sexy show; a good night of music and talk." The Keith Sweat Hotel will focus on R&B and slow jams ranging from the '70s to today. Complementing the music-intensive program will be special guests, live in-studio music performances, and listener call-ins. "Basically, that's the concept of my show: 24-hour room service," says Sweat.

Sad there is no more Audioslave, glad there is a RATM though.
Glad they are giong on tour with Wu-Tang. They fit well together.

George is the only Beatle I like, considering how much I despise that band, i'm glad he's getting his due. He gets overlooked alot because of the of the 2 "popular" guys. His solo albums were good.

I'm also happy about Keith Sweat.

Rage Against the Machine Rage Against the Machine

Rage Against the Machine earned acclaim from disenfranchised fans (and not insignificant derision from critics) for their bombastic, fiercely polemical music, which brewed sloganeering leftist rants against corporate America, cultural imperialism, and government oppression into a Molotov cocktail of punk, hip-hop, and thrash. Rage formed in Los...

George Harrison George Harrison

As lead guitarist for the Beatles, George Harrison provided the band with a lyrical style of playing in which every note mattered. Harrison was one of millions of young Britons inspired to take up the guitar by British skiffle king Lonnie Donegan's recording of "Rock Island Line." But he had more dedication than most, and with the encouragement...

With her omnivorous musical tastes and cheeky attitude, London-based pop singer/songwriter Lily Allen made a name for herself almost as soon as she released her demos on the Internet. Hank Williams, Jr. Hank Williams, Jr.

The offspring of famous musicians often have a hard time creating a career for themselves, yet Hank Williams, Jr. is one of the few to develop a career that is not only successful, but markedly different from his legendary father. Originally, Hank Jr. simply copied and played his father's music, but as he grew older, he began to carve out his...

George Harrison went quiet not long after the second Traveling Wilburys album, surfacing only for the Beatles' Anthology in the mid-'90s. His son, Dhani, and his longtime friend/collaborator Jeff Lynne completed the...

Like most British pop, Lily Allen's debut album, Alright, Still, overflows with impeccably shiny, creative productions.
