Stones front man and legendary director will team for The Long Play, a film that chronicles the music business over three decades.
For the past several years, Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger has wanted to make a movie that focuses on the music business over three decades.
In doing so, he's teamed up with Hollywood's most celebrated director, Martin Scorsese, who just nabbed two Academy Awards for his film The Departed.
Paramount Pictures said yesterday that Scorsese has agreed to direct a film called The Long Play, an idea that Jagger has been stewing on for several years. Scorsese, 64, will coproduce with Jagger and his business partner Victoria Pearman.
The Viacom Inc.-owned studio said in a statement that William Monahan, who also won an Oscar for writing The Departed, will write the screenplay.
Scorsese and Jagger worked together last year on a feature-length documentary about the Rolling Stones, which will be released in the fall. Portions were shot during a two-night stand at New York's Beacon Theater late fall, including the band's performance for former President Bill Clinton's 60th birthday party.
