Shakira travels with parents
She might make men swoon the world over, but Shakira never strays too far from her parents. In fact, the Colombian bombshell brings her parents along with her everywhere she goes, including all of her world tours. "It's not very rock 'n roll," she admitted in as part of MTV's "Dirty Little Secret" contest. "I've been trying to cut the umbilical cord, but they don't let me." MTV is streaming a series of Webisodes featuring 21-year-old Rachel Newhouse, who won an essay contest to accompany the singer on her world tour and film her experience.
Green Day in Simpsons movie?
20th Century Fox has unveiled the third trailer for the much-hyped movie, and it provided a brief hint that Green Day could make an appearance in the film. The studio has declined to comment on the band's possible inclusion in the movie, but the band's record label Warner Bros/Reprise told NME.com that the band does indeed appear and also will have a song featured in the movie. The band can be briefly spotted around 25 seconds before the trailer ends. The movie will hit theaters July 27. The Simpsons show has a long history of appearances by bands, including White Stripes, Metallica, and Korn.
Kelis arrest details emerge
She's not known to be certifiably insane, so when Kelis was arrested last week for causing a disturbance by verbally assaulting police officers posing as prostitutes in Miami, let's just say there were more questions than answers. Turns out, funny story: The singer went ballistic because the would-be hookers were talking with Kelis' husband, Nas, who--and we couldn't possibly make this up--thought they were members of the Pussycat Dolls.
According to a police report, Kelis Rogers-Jones, 27, was arrested at 4:30 a.m. in the South Beach nightclub district and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after berated the undercover officers with racial epithets after she thought they were soliciting Nas. The Milkshake singer had to be restrained by several friends, including Nas, but her behavior "caused people walking by to stop and form a crowd. The sidewalk was blocked by the disturbance causing people to walk in the street and cause traffic to stop," the report said.
Ronette alleges Spector hall protest
The impending Rock and Hall Roll Hall of Fame induction of the Ronettes has shone a fresh spotlight on the turbulent--to say the least--relationship between Ronnie and Phil Spector, the group's lead singer and producer, respectively. The New York Post today published a lengthy article on the subject, in which Ronnie Spector alleges that her ex-husband wrote the Hall of Fame to tell them not to induct the 1960s girl group. "He did everything he could to stop me," Ronnie Spector told the paper. "He's bitter that I left him. He wants everyone to think he's the mastermind. He thought everything was because of him."
The article contends that Spector has left nothing but destruction in his wake, from his ex-wife's psyche to the health of their adopted children, who claim that Phil abused them. Spector, best known as the originator of the Wall of Sound production technique, became infamous in recent years with his upcoming trial for the alleged 2003 murder of B-movie actress Lana Clarkson. Ronnie Spector says many of her ex-husband's troubles stemmed from his insecurities about his hair, which has taken on a rather electrified perm in recent years. "He was so upset over his hair!" she told the Post. "When we had dinner, everything was really dim, because he had bad hair. Toupees."
Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards is set to induct the Ronettes in the rock hall Monday night. Phil Spector's trial for the murder of Lana Clarkson begins on March 19.
Oasis leader's girlfriend pregnant
When he's not slagging off on Bono or the Beatles, Oasis leader Noel Gallagher is shagging his girlfriend. The guitarist and his girlfriend, Sara MacDonald, are expecting their first child together. The band's spokesperson told BBC News this week that MacDonald is three months pregnant and that the couple is "very happy" about it. Gallagher already has a seven-year-old daughter, Anais, with his ex-wife, Meg Matthews. Oasis, which was recently honored with a career achievement award at the Brit Awards, is set to play a pair of acoustic gigs at the Royal Albert Hall in London at the end of this month to benefit Teenage Cancer Trust.

Hudson, who went from little-known performer to Oscar winner in the past year, finished seventh on American Idol in 2004. "This is an honor for me and very flattering," Hudson said in a statement.
