Icelandic singer's trek will include a stop at Coachella in late April, three shows in NYC, and a series of European festival appearances.
With an eclectic-as-ever album on the way, Bjork today unveiled a world tour in support of it.
As previously reported, the Icelandic queen of indie pop will play the first day of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. She'll then head to New York City for a three-night-stand, including shows at Radio City Music Hall and the Apollo Theater.
After stops in Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Vancouver, and Washington state, Bjork will do the European festival circuit, including Roskilde in Denmark July 1. She recently signed on to play the Virgin Festival in Toronto on September 8.
Bjork's new album, Volta, includes collaborations with Timbaland, Antony Hegarty of Antony and the Johnsons, Congo-based electric thumb pianists Kononos No. 1, and kora player Toumani Diabate from Mali. Timbaland coproduced as many as seven songs on the record.
Bjork told Pitchfork that the Voltyas live show will be grand. It will include percussionist and album contributor Chris Corsano, longtime collaborator Mark Bell, a 10-piece, all-female brass band, and "an old friend of mine who is an Icelandic Chinese concert pianist, and I got him a huge pipe organ, so he's going to wear tails and do some very virtuoso dramatic performances in between sets. I think it's going to be a lot of fun."
