Report: Britney to leave rehab
It took several attempts to get her to stay, but Britney Spears' stint in rehab has reportedly been successful, and the embattled pop star is set to leave this week, according to Web site TMZ.com. The site cites sources as saying that Spears had an "amazing meeting" on Sunday with soon-to-be ex-husband Kevin Federline.
The estranged couple are hammering out the details of custody of their two young children, TMZ said. When Britney gets out, she and Kevin have agreed to a 50/50 split with physical custody of their two children. The plan is for Britney to eventually gain primary custody and Kevin to have visitation.
Metallica to play renovated Wembley
With a Rick Rubin-produced new album set for a fall release, Metallica will be the first major rock act to play the newly renovated Wembley Stadium in London. Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo will perform at the venerated venue July 8, their first-ever headlining gig there. The Northern California-based band played Wembley as part of the 1992 tribute to late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.
"So to play it now as headliners, especially the brand spankin' new one, is very, very cool ... we'll also be bringing a few of our friends along to add to the festivities," the band wrote on its Web site. The post also mentioned that several additional European dates will be announced in the coming weeks."
Marilyn Manson seeks girls for video
Marilyn Manson and his 19-year-old girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood are looking for some "beautiful girls" to appear with them in a club scene for a music video Manson is making in the Los Angeles area. A Manson fan site points to a MySpace post by Californian photographer Tyler Shield seeking volunteers. Interested parties are asked to e-mail two photos of themselves. Manson's forthcoming new album, Eat Me, Drink, the title of which is based on the first chapter of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, is expected to hit stores in the spring. It will be followed by a world tour.
Mayer to headline Save the Music show
John Mayer will be the headline performer at the 10th anniversary celebration concert for VH1's Save the Music foundation, which works to restore music education in US public schools. The gala, emceed by Project Runway presenter Tim Gunn, will be held September 20 at New York's Lincoln Center. A group of students from schools that have received VH1 Save the Music grants will perform as a 50-piece orchestra. According to the foundation, Save the Music has provided more than $34 million worth of instruments and helped hundreds of music programs in schools around the country.
Winehouse likes pizza, champagne, vodka
British breakout singer Amy Winehouse has made her love for the sauce completely transparent, most notably on her hit single, Rehab," in which she rejects treatment for her vice. Her tour rider--the list of demands presented to each venue she plays--backs up her reputation. According to The Smoking Gun, which obtained a copy of the Winehouse rider, the singer and her 10-piece band require wine, beer, and liquor in her dressing room, including a large bottle of vodka, Courvoisier, a chilled bottle of champagne, and a lager like Corona--"no Stella Artois or Carling."
Winehouse also asks that three "good quality HOT" pizzas be delivered, and the band reserves the right to refuse them if they are not good and hot. And in the most ironic request, the teetotaler asks that two roadies be on hand to help with load-in at each concert venue, and specifically asks that the crew be sober.
