Eve arrested on DUI suspicion

Eve allegedly crashed her Maserati on Hollywood Boulevard early this morning and then was picked up by another Maserati several hours later following her arrest on charges of driving under the influence. TMZ.com reported that Eve crashed her car into the center divider at around 2.45 a.m., and her blood alcohol level was "double the legal limit." The 28-year-old rapper/actress--real name Eve Jeffers--posted $30,000 bail and is due in court on May 17, when she'll face misdemeanor drunk driving charges. The site also reported that actor Sean Penn, who is believed to have been with Eve shortly before the accident, visited her at the police station.

50 Cent to walk Mayweather to ring

Dubbed as "The World Awaits," the May 5 WBC super welterweight championship fight between "Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather and "The Golden Boy" Oscar De La Hoya is sure to attract a bunch of celebrities. With a new album on the way and a knack for seizing marketing opportunities, one of them actually plans to walk Mayweather to the ring. 50 Cent, who was recently featured hanging out with Mayweather in an episode of the four-part HBO series De La Hoya/Mayweather 24/7, will walk Mayweather into the ring. After he does, he will perform his single "Straight to the Bank," his first performance of the song in front of a live audience. 50's new album, Curtis, hits stores June 26.

"50 Cent is a great friend of mine and it means a lot to me to have him walk me in to the ring and debut his new song," Mayweather said in a statement. "With this fight being the Super Bowl of boxing, the fans and celebrities coming out to the fight and everyone watching around the world will see the greatest show ever."

Snoop denied entry to Australia

He saw his European tour with Diddy crumble because he couldn't gain entry into the UK, and now Snoop Dogg has been denied entry into Australia. The country's government has denied Snoop entry to the country because of his extensive criminal record. According to the Australian Associated Press, Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews says the rapper failed a required character test and will be issued a notice of intention to revoke his visa. Andrews cited Snoop's prior criminal convictions, particularly his most recent charges of weapons and drug possession, as cause for the ban. Andrews also noted that the rapper was denied entry into the UK recently.

"He has been denied entry into the United Kingdom because he was caught with others causing a fray at [London's] Heathrow Airport," Andrews told the news service. "He doesn't seem the sort of bloke we want in this country. This man has been a member of a Los Angeles gang--and is still associated with it apparently--that's been involved in murder, robberies and drug dealing in the LA area." Because of the ban, Snoop will be unable to attend the MTV Australia Video Music Awards.

LL signs on for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

LL Cool J is reportedly in talks to star in the Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. The New York Post reported today that LL--real name James Todd Smith--plans to land the leading role of Brick. The play will be directed by Debbie Allen, who worked with the rapper on the NBC sitcom In the House. Phylicia Rashad, Louis Gossett Jr., and Dreamgirls star Anika Noni Rose are also currently in negotiations for roles in the play, the paper reported.

Cam'ron apologizes for snitching comments

Last Sunday, in an interview with CBS's 60 Minutes, Cam'ron was a vocal "stop snitching" apologist. Today, he's apologizing for it. The rapper issued a statement clarifying his defense of the "stop snitching" code in many urban neighborhoods, whereby those who witness a crime are encouraged to not go to police, largely because of mistrust. In the statement, Cam'ron describes the incident in which he was shot in an alleged carjacking in 2005 and decided not to cooperate with a police investigation.

"Where I come from, once word gets out that you've cooperated with the police that only makes you a bigger target of criminal violence," he said. "That is a dark reality in so many neighborhoods like mine across America. I'm not saying it's right, but it's reality. And it's not unfounded. There's a harsh reality around violence and criminal justice in our inner cities."

"But my experience in no way justifies what I said," he continued. "Looking back now, I can see how those comments could be viewed as offensive, especially to those who have suffered their own personal tragedies or to those who put their lives on the line to protect our citizens from crime. Please understand that I was expressing my own personal frustration at my own personal circumstances. I in no way was intending to be malicious or harmful. I apologize deeply for this error in judgment."

"Monster Mash" singer dies

His song will live forever as a staple of Halloween, but the singer of "Monster Mash" has passed away. Bobby "Boris" Pickett, whose dead-on Boris Karloff impression propelled the Halloween anthem to the top of the charts in 1962, has died of leukemia. He was 69. Pickett died Wednesday night at the West Los Angeles Veterans Hospital, his longtime manager, Stuart Hersh, told the Associated Press. Pickett's daughter, Nancy, and his sister, Lynda, were at his bedside.

"Monster Mash" hit the Billboard chart three times: when it debuted in 1962, reaching No. 1 the week before Halloween; again in August 1970; and for a third time in May 1973. Bob Dylan played the single on his XM Satellite Radio program last October. "Our next artist is considered a one-hit wonder, but his one hit comes back year after year," Dylan noted.
