Episode Seven
When it comes to extraordinary emcees, Pharoahe Monch is up there with the best of 'em. From his early career as one-half of Organized Konfusion, through his late-nineties tenure at Rawkus, (where he recorded the Godzilla-sampling party starter "Simon Says"), to readying the release of his long-awaited sophomore LP Desire, the Queens wordsmith has never fallen off. In this exclusive interview, he discusses the new album, reflects on internet trash-talkers, offers up six words about an OK reunion, and gives advice to aspiring rappers.
We also get a live performance from the Bay's own four-woman crew Rhapsodistas, breaking it down at the Stop The Killings benefit concert. Watch and learn as the ladies put an SF-centric spin on Jay-Z's "Heart of the City" track.
Lastly, we take it back to '95, with a classic video for Raekwon's untouchable single "Incarcerated Scarfaces." Whether you're a Wu fan from way back, or are still learning about the Shoalin superfriends, this is some mandatory viewing. Hopefully Rae's oft-delayed Cuban Linx 2 project will be hitting stores soon.
