Annual PETA contest includes the likes of Vedder, Yorke, McCartney, Wentz, Carrie Underwood, Shania Twain, Prince, and a host of hip-hoppers.
Gone are the days when Moby was the most prominent musician who didn't eat anything that used to walk.
PETA unveiled its nominees for its third annual sexiest vegetarian this week, and the list is chock-full of musicians, including big stars like Eddie Vedder, Thom Yorke, Prince, Paul McCartney, Pete Wentz, Morrissey, Carrie Underwood, Shania Twain, and of course, Moby.
A male and female winner will be chosen through voting on PETA's Web site. Natalie Portman and Benji Madden of Good Charlotte won last year.
There are plenty of other rockers on this year's list of nominees, including Larry Mullen Jr. of U2, Perry Farrell, Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Keidis, Andy Hurley of Fall Out Boy, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and Cedric Bixler-Zavala of The Mars Volta, Benji Madden of Good Charlotte, Brian Bell of Weezer, Chris Walla of Death Cab For Cutie, Doug Martsch of Built to Spill, Rob Zombie, Travis Barker of +44, Serj Tankian of System of a Down, superproducer Rick Rubin, 30 Seconds to Mars singer Jared Leto, Ted Leo, and Fugazi's Ian MacKaye.
But hip-hop is well represented on the list of nominees as well. Outkast's Andre 3000, KRS-One, Common, Mos Def, Q-Tip, ?uestlove, Black Thought, and Hub of the Roots, The Wu-Tang Clan's RZA, GZA, and Masta Killa, Michael Franti, M-1 and Stic.man of Dead Prez, and Prodigy of Mobb Deep all made the list.
Underwood and Twain were joined among female singers by Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders, Emmylou Harris, Erykah Badu, Fiona Apple, India.Arie, and Joss Stone.

I have been eating less and less meat; I may become a semi-vegetarian down the road. I have nothing against vegetarians who don't shove their beliefs down our throats and respect my eating habits. I just have a problem with the PETAphiles who think a fruit fly is equal to a human being or those who think that "animal rights" involve acting like animals themselves. Then again, Ingrid Newkirk wants to be turned into a purse after she dies. I'd like that purse; I'd know what I'd do with it...
If anyone wants to suggest I did the wrong thing by feeding, walking, petting, playing, sharing my house with a dog for thirteen years and to make shure it died humanly at the vet instead of suffering a horrible death to cancer they are free to sell me so and I'll feel more than free to tell them off.
The only one I listened to on this list was Rob Zombie... Now if you excuse me I have some letter-writing to do.
