The Game faces felony charges

No hand-checking or I'll get my gat. No hand-checking or I'll get my gat.

No harm, no foul, unless you go and get your gun out of your car. The Game was charged yesterday in Los Angeles with making a criminal threat and possessing a firearm in a school zone following a fight during a pickup basketball game on Feb. 24 in South Los Angeles, according to the LA district attorney's office.

The felony charges against the 27-year-old rapper, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, accuse him of pulling a gun from his red Cadillac Escalade after punching a player on the opposing team and threatening to shoot him, police said.

The Game was arrested May 11 at his Glendale home by police executing a search warrant and was released on $50,000 bail. He also is charged with exhibiting a firearm in the presence of an officer. Taylor was arraigned today in Los Angeles. He faces more than five years in state prison if convicted.

50 Cent hints at hiatus, but no retirement

With a new album on the way and another one almost in the can, 50 Cent says that fans may have to start getting used to him being less than ubiquitous on the hip-hop scene. "For me, right now, I feel like I love music, so [fans] should expect me to make music afterwards," 50 told MTV News. "But I'll make it organically, like [Dr.] Dre makes a record. It may take five or seven years. They'll be looking for my record, like, 'Yo, come on, when you making a record?'"

50 Cent's forthcoming album, Curtis, will hit stores in September, and another album, Before I Self Destruct, is almost done. "I recorded 10 records to the concept of Before I Self Destruct, but I put them aside when I started to create Curtis," Fiddy said. "Before I Self Destruct is scheduled to be released February 4, which is the anniversary of [his 2003 debut] Get Rich or Die Tryin'. And it'll be my final studio recording for where I'm at, for my deal. I did a five-album deal, and the fifth album is a greatest-hits CD."

Reports: Jay-Z and Beyonce engaged

Beyonce and Jay-Z Beyonce and Jay-Z

Don't we have more important things to do that constantly monitor the engagement rumor mill of Jay-Z and Beyonce? Oh, we don't? Fine. Several British media outlets reported today that the longtime paramours are engaged, although similar media reports over the years have proven to be false. This time, the rapper and Def Jam mogul reportedly popped the question in Cannes while the two were on vacation, with Jay-Z promising the singer/actress "the biggest diamond she can fit on her finger."

Jay-Z reportedly canceled several US promotional appearances for his Roc-A-Fella empire and flew out to France last week to surprise Beyonce with a romantic break in Cannes. Beyonce is currently in the UK as part of her world tour. The couple are said to be planning to marry in Hawaii later this year.

Spector jury sees bloody revolver

Phil Spector Phil Spector

Following weeks of related testimony, the murder trial of legendary music producer Phil Spector got serious today as the jury saw the bloody revolver he is accused of using to kill B-movie actress Lana Clarkson in 2003. The revolver, which is alleged to have been found at the feet of Clarkson the night she was found dead at Spector's home, was unveiled by Los Angeles County sheriff's Det. Mark Lillienfeld in court. He used photographs to point out a holster in an open drawer of a bureau near the spot where Clarkson's body found was slumped in Spector's foyer. The holster was later shown to fit the gun, Lillienfeld said.

Clarkson, 40, died from a shot fired with the gun in her mouth early on Feb. 3, 2003. She had accompanied Spector to his Alhambra, Calif., mansion after meeting him at her job as a hostess at the House of Blues just hours earlier. Spector's defense team has argued that Clarkson killed herself.

George Michael reopens Wembley

George Michael George Michael

George Michael became the first artist to perform at London's rebuilt Wembley Stadium Saturday, taking the stage at the venerated venue not far from the north London district of East Finchley where he was born. Michael, who had appeared several times at the "old" Wembley as a solo artist or in pop duo Wham, played two sold-out shows before more than 50,000 people per night.

"It was a dream about a year ago, and now it's actually going to happen," Michael told Reuters. "I'm totally in the moment because my London fans are so amazing. They just lift everything because it's also my hometown."

The iconic "old" Wembley sports stadium, opened in 1923, was demolished shortly after an August 2000 Bon Jovi show. It staged its first concert in 1972, becoming an increasingly regular stop for major acts during the 1980s and famously hosting Live Aid in 1985. Wembley is set to host shows later this year by Muse, Metallica, the Princess Diana tribute concert, and the UK Live Earth concert on July 7.
