New music event--set for Sept. 15-16 in the middle of the San Francisco Bay--features Thievery, Modest Mouse, and many more.
The Sasquatch Festival's incredibly beautiful setting might have a challenger.
Two of the San Francisco Bay Area's top live music promoters have teamed up for the Treasure Island Music Festival, a two-day event that will take place Sept. 15-16 on the island that connects the two spans of the Bay Bridge between San Francisco and Oakland.
Another Planet Entertainment and NoisePop have put together a loaded and diverse lineup for the event, nabbing Thievery Corp. and Modest Mouse as the headliners.
The event breaks down into a hip-hop/electronic day and an indie rock day.
In addition to Thievery on Saturday, fans will be able to catch sets from Gotan Project, DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist, M.I.A., Ghostland Observatory, Zion-I, and Kid Beyond, with more to be announced.
In addition to Modest Mouse, the festival's second day will feature Spoon, Built to Spill, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, M. Ward, Earlimart, Devil Makes Three, Trainwreck Riders, and more. Although not included on the lineup, Cold War Kids' recent announcement of tour dates included the Treasure Island event.
Tickets will go on sale June 24, although prices have not yet been announced. The event will also feature exhibits by local artists and designers and educational information about greening initiatives and conservation efforts.
Stay tuned for more details.
