Bennington stalker pleads guilty
Devon Townshend pleaded guilty Friday to taking rock 'n roll stalking to a new, and decidedly more creepy, level, according to the Associated Press. The 28-year-old New Mexico resident, who worked at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, said she used federal government computers to access the e-mail account of Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington and hacked into a cell phone company's Web site to obtain his phone number.
Townshend pleaded guilty to charges including stalking and unlawful access to stored communications. Townsend faces up to five years in prison and fines up to $250,000 for each count. A sentencing date has not been scheduled. Townshend used lab computers to access private information about Bennington and his wife, Talinda, from January 2006 to November 2006, including family photos, information about a new home bought by the Benningtons, the couple's travel plans, and correspondence between Warner Bros. Records and Linkin Park's business attorney. Investigators said Townshend also hacked into the e-mail of Bennington's wife and at one point called the former Playboy model and threatened her.
Blog: Vedder crafts solo work for album
Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder is reportedly set to make many of his fans' biggest wish come true, and has chosen a hotly anticipated movie for which to do so. The music blog Playlist reported this week that Vedder has recorded an entire album's worth of solo material as the soundtrack for Into the Wild, the feature film about the mysterious and fatal Alaskan adventure of wanderer Chris McCandless.
The film is being directed by Sean Penn and stars Emile Hirsch. Vedder has previously performed songs for Penn in movies like Dead Man Walking and I Am Sam, the latter of which featured Vedder's cover of the Beatles' "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away." Vedder will also have a small role in Into the Wild, which is set for a fall release.

Kid Rock pals with John Daly on links
Although he was nowhere near the top of the leaderboard at the Buick Open in Michigan yesterday, throngs of fans were following golfer John Daly around the course. Daly is always a big attraction on the PGA Tour, but according to the Associated Press, this time he had some extra star power with him.
Kid Rock, apparently a longtime friend of Daly, rolled around the course on the passenger side of a mini-Buick golf cart, sipping beer from a plastic cup, slapping extended hands from fans, and signing countless autographs. He jumped out of the cart at the 14th green and stood among the crowd outside the ropes to cheer on Daly. Kid Rock--real name Robert Ritchie--said it was the first time he'd seen Daly play, not counting driving exhibitions in suburban Detroit. "He hits off Coors Light cans at my house," he said.
Flavor Flav to be roasted
Following in the footsteps of Pamela Anderson and William Shatner, Flavor Flav will be the recipient of the next Comedy Central roast. The Public Enemy hype man and star of VH1's Flavor of Love reality show will be subject to good-natured ridicule from the likes of comedians Carrot Top, Greg Giraldo, Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Lampanelli, Bridgett Neilsen, Patton Oswalt, and Katt Williams, who will serve as the event's host.
In addition, rappers Ice-T and Snoop Dogg will roast Flav, and former Salt-N-Pepa member DJ Spinderella will be spinning tunes during the event. The show will be taped at The Warner Brothers Studio Lot on Sunday, July 22 in Los Angeles. It will air on Comedy Central on August 12 at 10 p.m.
