Touring in support of hit album It Won't Be Soon Before Long, band enlists the Hives as opener.
Hoping to expand its audience beyond the pop rock crowd, Maroon 5 has made an unconventional opening act pick for its just-announced fall tour, going with punky Swedish garage rockers the Hives.
Maroon 5 will be touring in support of its hit album It Won't Be Soon Before Long, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart in May. The album's first single, "Makes Me Wonder," nabbed the highest leap ever on the Billboard Hot 100 chart when it jumped from No. 64 to the chart's top slot.
Meanwhile, the Hives are currently working on their next Interscope album, which will be the follow-up to 2004's Tyrannosaurus Hives.
The pair will kick off the tour September 29 in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and will rap November 10 in Las Vegas. Tickets begin going on sale tomorrow.
The bands are working with Global Cool to ensure the tour is carbon neutral. Maroon 5 will donate $1 for each ticket purchased in North America to buy carbon offsets that go toward making the tour "carbon neutral."
