Jean maker says it has designed jeans that are compatible with popular portable music player, featuring a pocket joystick control.
The ubiquitous iPod brand extension continues.
Denim giant Levi Strauss said today that it has designed jeans to work with the vaunted iPod music player, featuring a joystick in the watch pocket to operate the device.
The company said its RedWire DLX Jeans for men and women will be available this fall. The jeans will also have a built-in docking cradle, virtually eliminating "the iPod 'bump' in the pocket," the company said.
The joystick remote is a four-way control that lets the user play/pause, track forward, track back, and adjust the volume without removing the iPod from the pocket.
The company did not make pricing or photos of the jeans available.
"In designing the jeans, we considered both function and fashion--the result is a uniquely functional yet stylish, great-fitting jean," said Robert Hanson, Levi's US brand president, in a statement.
Levi's is hardly the first company to feature iPod-compatible apparel. In 2003, Burton Snowboards unveiled its iPod-compatible waterproof snowboarding jacket, and jacket maker Kenpo introduced pricey men's jackets with iPod controls on the sleeve.
