Runelore, story telling and Quorthon...

I haven't made a blog in a while, mainly because there hasn't been much to write about. But now I have several things to say... First of all, I have applied for 2 jobs today, hopefully I will get one of them One is a job working in Marks & Spencer, and the other in Soletrader. They aren't the best paid jobs in the world, but I need something until I start college next year.

Secondly, as most of you know, I am the leader of The Folklore and Fantasy Union. I have recently decided to start making topics on the union board concerning Anglo-Saxon paganism/heathenism (whatever you want to call it). The first intallment of this little mini-series of threads is about the old saxon rune poem, which I will be writing in increments over the next few weeks in old and modern English. As well as this I will be also writing about the old heathen gods, old saxon folklore and various other things concerning old saxon England.

As well as that, I now have a weekly story thing going with the F&F union, thanks to large amounts of input from itsTolkien_time and SlashDementia3, thanks for all your help guys If you have any interest in writing fantasy or poetry et cetera, please come and join in and let me know if your interested, you will be most welcome

Lastly, I have been buying a lot of cd's lately, too many infact for someone with no income

These purchases are mainly Bathory cd's that I don't own already, and they include Nordland I & II and Blood On Ice, as well as Once Sent From The Golden Hall by Amon Amarth, and a few Moonsorrow albums a couple of weeks ago. I really need to stop spending money >__>

Sorry for the large wall of text, I'll try to keep it shorter next time

Thanks for reading.

My union is up and running :D

Well, I have had an idea to create my own union for a while now, where I can discuss my interests with others who are like me.

The union is called - The Folklore and Fantasy Union

Please join it if you have any interest in folklore, myths and legends, fairytales et cetera, or fantasy, be it in films, games, literature or music.

I want to thank Denny_Carmassi, Meat_Bag, Cody13_2012 and vj02, who helped me get it up and running by becoming charter members, thanks guys

England are through to the world cup :)

Well tonight saw England play Croatia in their 8th match of this European qualifying group, and we beat them by 5 goals to 1

This means we have a 100% record so far in the group and is our best qualifying result ever, with two games left to play we can now relax and have some good matches.

The goalscorers were Steven Gerrard with 2 goals, Frank Lampard with 2 goals also, and Wayne Rooney with 1 goal Unfortunately we conceded a goal to Croatia with Arsenal's Eduardo scoring fairly late on.

I was also glad to see David Beckham come on and get his 114th cap for England, even if he did only play the last 10 minutes, he is a bit like English footballing royalty

We are now through to the 2010 world cup finals in South Africa

On a disappointing note, Scotland lost to the Netherlands, I'm not sure where this puts them in terms of qualification, but not a good result

Football: England vs Holland & Scotland vs Norway

I'll start with the England game, though I only caught the last 45 minutes of this, I was impressed with what I saw. The first half from what I could tell, was, well a bit of a let down to say the least. We conceded two goals that were frankly sloppy give-aways, and when playing a team like the Dutch (currently 3rd best in the world by FIFA rankings) just foolish really. Fabio Capello's excuse was 'pre-season' which may be excusable but we are talking about players who should know better. Second half saw Jermain Defoe replace Emile Heskey, best swap of the night, he scored 2 goals in the end and could of had more. The last half, the Dutch were pretty bad, although they were still a threat. Overall a promising match, with the positives being the way we came back to even the score after going 2 down. We need to play a hell of a lot better to win the world cup in 2010 though.

2-2 final score, England should have won in the end.

Onto the Scotland-Norway game and although I didn't watch it I was disappointed with the score. I will always cheer for Scotland after England, but it was a thrashing that Norway gave to the Scots. Unfortunately this was a world cup qualifier, meaning Norway now are back in contention of taking away Scotlands place.

4-0 final score, with Norway the victors.
