My top 10 games of the decade number 7

Ratchet and Clank 3 slotted in at number 8 so now onto number 7. Probably a surprise entry but you guys must know I have played this game a heck of alot.

MY NUMBER 7 GAME OF THE DECADE HADOUKENS ITS WAY INTO MY TOP 10 GAMES OF DECADE IN THE FORM OF STREET FIGHTER 4.

First of all I know some people perfer the likes of Tekken,Soul Calibur and even Dead or Alive but I have always been a Street Fighter fan.

First of all I have played this game alot it is in fact one of the most played games I ever played. The question s what do I like about it is it takes me back all those years when I played Street Fighter 2 and Turbo on the SNES.

The game has a wide vareity of characters the fan favourites like Ryu and Ken are back with Chun,Li,Akuma,Guile and M Bison. Each character is nicely detailed and looks the part. Street Fighter 4 is back to the 2D fighting roots but the areas have 3D backgrounds and they work really well. The game has alot of replay value in terms of Challenge Mode,a Training Mode and most of all an online mode which consists of Ranked,Championship and Player Matches. The online seems to have run smoothly but there are times when it lags but not by much.

The moveset for most characters are the same combinations so you shall know how to hit an Hadouken,Shoryuken,Sonic Boom or a Spinning Bird Kick. New attacks are Focus attacks which can absorb opponents fireball but only their standard fireball. An EX fireball won't help. There is a Super Bar which is if you fill it you can deal alot of damage but you can also do EX attacks which are stronger versions than a standard attack. Example Kens Shoryuken is more powerful if you use the EX Shoryuken but you have to have the buttons HP,MP and LP onto the same button or it won't work. The Ultra is the most powerful. If you take to much damage you can hit you opponent with a powerful set of combos but some will block it espically online. You can chain moves though to excute an Ultra like some use Ryus Shoryuken and if timed right he can use his Ultra which is a Metsu Hadouken to deal heavy damge so if your not careful against a skilled Ryu player expect that to happen believe me its happened to me loads of times.

Image 283The character animations really stand out when excuting an Ultra. They can swing the tide of a match or decide so be ready for when your opponent does it and be careful not to use to early or else it could cost you the match

The roster has the 8 world warriors Ryu,Ken,Chun Li,Honda,Guile,Blanka,Zangeif and Dhalism. The bosses Bison,Vega,Sagat and Balrog. The Alpha characters Akuma,Dan,Rose,Gen and Sakura. The Super characters Fei Long and Cammy and newcomers Viper,El Fuerte,Abel,Rufus,Gouken and Seth and all the characters seem quiet balanced apart from Seth and possibly Sagat.

The graphics are nice and colorful. Pulling off Ultras shows characters expressions and that cool too. The soundtrack is also quiet good apart from a few songs but overall very nice.

I put this in my 7th place because it has kept me coming back for more and more everytime. There are a few minor complaints like some characters been unbalanced that annoying intro and sometimes dirty tactics online but overall a superb title and one of the funnest games I have ever played.

I gotz Twitter

So I decided to check out Twitter for the first time today, made an account and everything. Seems pretty straightforward so I think for those quick one-liner messages I'll be posting on there frequently. Anyone who follows Twitter let me know and I'll check you out.

Other than that, eight days till I get my 40" Sony Bravia. I got a new DSLite from my gf, which I then had to go buy Spirit Tracks which is a lot of fun, although maybe too similar to Phantom Hourglass for its own good... but very fun.

And since the Halo: Reach footage, I've been itching to play ODST and beat that. That is my goal for this weekend. Should be fun.

Level 57
I just reached level 57 today and wow is this level fast. I'm already at 62%. I guess this is a easy level. I'm sorta glad that there is one, level 56 took forever. Level 56 and Level 58 take 50 days to pass. So I'm gonna be on level 58 forever to.
Level 57 - Karateka. Karateka is a 1984 computer game by Jordan Mechner, the creator of Prince of Persia. Sadly I've never played this game or heard of it, have you? This topic is where I get the information for the levels, in case you didn't know. I'm also in charge on updating a list called "The Top 25 User Levels" I do this once a month, and I've been updating this list for close to a year now. I'll post a new update in a few days, also if anyone is interested, I can give you a link to it. There is also a union where other stats are tracked to.

So what have I been doing? Well gaming wise, I've decided to try and complete some of the games on my backlog list. Progress is slow, but I'm working on it. As for gaming in general, I haven't been gaming too much. But the game I've been playing the most lately is the game I recently added to my playing list. It actually inspired me to play my psp again, since it has been sitting around for nearly a year. I have more games and I'll probably mention them in my next bloggie, whenever that is.
I promise I won't make you guys wait so long on it.

My GOTY Awards 2009

So the end of the year has finally come. The end of the first decade of the 21st Century draws to close, and we all anticipate the coming years in gaming. Overall, I thought this year was a pretty slow year for gaming. It wasn't terrible,but it certainly wasn't good. Thankfully, 2010 looks to be the greatest year for gaming in years. So far it's a fantastic game. Fun, addictive, satisfying, with a toe-tapping (or head-bobbing, whichever you prefer) music track that can get stuck in your head for hours.

And The Awards Are......

Hello everyone, it has been a while since my last blog so let's cut the chat and start this up again.

I saw the VGAs and I must say, I was amazed at some of the new games that are going to be released in the future. Makes me wonder what 2010 is going to be like for games eh?

Anyways, I'm proud for The Beatles: Rock Band for getting a award, this should be a sign of things to come.

Well, I really don't have much to say this time around, makes you wonder what I will think of next.

Left 4 Dead 2 - the first few hours

Left 4 Dead 2 - the first few hours

After a sudden switch in decison from Dragon Age Online to Left 4 Dead 2 for my next game purchase, I am happy to say it was a good choice (though I plan on getting Dragon Age at some point still). My first play on the game involved playing through the first chapter/campaign on single player. This was an interesting affair as I found on normal I was running out of health packs quickly and also the AI seemed shocking. At times it will help you and other times it drags behind taking out every single enemie. Now thats pretty good but when you are having to rush due to low health and respawning enemies and your team mates do nothing it starts to get frustrating.

I managed to get to the rollercoaster with the AI for those who have played the game. Overall I was left with mixed feelings, whilst it felt an improvment on the first game, I felt the AI was not up to scratch and lack of checkpoints and health packs made the game more challenging but rewarding at the same time. The next day I finally got online (not due to lack of players, due to lack of internet connection where I was playing on the xbox). When putting this online the game felt alive all of a sudden, having other people who know what to do is great but having people who wont help you is a pain in the backside. I managed to get online with a friend though by pure chance as I was not aware he had the game until it came up friend playing game at loading. We had a blast doing achievments and even managed to rescue a certain gnome so I am happily sporting a pink t-shirt award (which the game gives for avatar awards, such as X ammount of zombies killed, story completion to more challenging things like carrying a gnome through 3 chapters). Versus also was an interesting experience, the game rotates which type of zombie you are each time you die to keep you on your toes. Again with this mode you need to have good planning and communication with your team.

So far this has been a great game with a few problems such as checkpoint issues and health packs being too spread out. However if you have friends with this and can play online, its a blast, but if you only want to do single player, you will have to really consider the AI issues before choosing. If you have any questions let me know, this is purely a first impressions blog and not a review.

Also for those interested, the "Hey Ash What are you playing- Left 4 Dead" video got me interested in Left 4 Dead 2, man the music was catchy on it.

Acitivity note:

I have decided to not post for a while at the unions and main boards. I am getting fed up of the silly arguments and random flame comments that are intended to make people upset and what not. I am not sure if I will return to any of the unions as really I just want to game more. However I am planning to do blogs more frequently on the games I have been playing and what I think of them. I may post from time to time but chances are its going to be much less frequent. I am sorry to those who are at the unions who did a good effort and were friendly but there is a trend of the anamosity of the internet turning peoples comments more and more extreme and silly which just stops me wanting to post due to just not caring anymore.

My XBox 360 stopped working

Well after almost two years of my XBox 360working without any problems, it stopped reading discs. So now I have to save $200-$300 just to buy an XBox that will be replaced a next gen console in few years. This could not have happened at a worse time. All the best games are coming out right now and I don't have a working Xbox to play them on. WHY CAN'T ALL THE GAMING COMPANIES MAKE CONSOLE THAT LASTS MORE THAN A FEW YEARS? Do the companies intentionally give their consoles a short life span just to make money?

Update 12/04/2009

Hello Gamers!I am writing this blog in cl@ss at school. So far its been a pretty good Friday, however, I am not really looking forward to going to work after school. I have been working on be on GameSpot I lot more than I have been. I usually now come on once a day, maybe even twice a day. I like to watch some of GameSpot's videos like Today On The Spot, and enjoy listening to The Hot Spot. I have been working really hard at school, I have pretty good grades at this time. I know for sure that I have an "A" in my english, because on everything I do I get 100%. I am not doing to well in Small Engines right now, but once we get into the work shop, it'll be my time to shine!

In the gaming world, I have been working hard on getting my Xbox Live account gamerscore upto my offline one (12,896), so far I am 5% to my objective. The games I am currently working on to unlock all the achievements for are: Assassin's Creed II, Halo ODST, and Modern Warfare 2. My next three games after those will be: Assassin's Creed, Modern Warfare, and Gears of War. I have 50 Xbox360 games, that I am going to replay to increase my gamerscore. Wish me luck to get my goal done before the next console launches.

I am reading two books currently: Tom Clancy's The Sum of All Fears, and B is for Burglar. They both are good books, however, Tom Clancy is the bomb! Also I have been practicing my taekwondo because on December 12th I have a tournament, and I'd like to get first place on one of the events (mainly Sparring). Wish me luck with that. Just to let you know, I am trying to make it appoint to read other peoples blogs and comment them. If I haven't commented on one of your blogs in a while, just comment on mine and I'll remember to comment yours. Thank you for reading!

My GOTY ( More like game of the century. )

This year has been a fantastic year for gaming. With the likes of Uncharted 2, Batman AA, Killzone 2, Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter IV, Ghostbusters and a few more games that escape my mind. But there is one game that stands out from the rest and that is:

With a fantastic story, great gameplay, great character development, beautiful graphics and a solid online/co-op component. Uncharted 2 is undoubtedly the best game i have played in a long time. Naughty Dog really know how to improve a sequal.The only thing i cant forgive Naughty Dog for is the lack of Sullivan, that guy is awesome.

There are games i have yet to play: Borderlands, Infamous, Brutal Legend and Assassins Creed II. Cant wait to play them. So people what game has won your heart this year?

Dropping Some Priorities

Hello everyone. I haven't made a blog in a while now haven't I?

I haven't alot to say today aside from I'm dropping a few unions and resigning my roles as officer/leader at a few other ones. Why? Because Gamespot is essentially dead now. Aside from Console Generations and rarely a few other places, practically all of the unions I'm apart of are inactive and reliant on the dwindling number of loyal Gamespot members. I hate sending out telegrams for support and you all sure as hell hate reading them too, so I'm going to stop sending them altogether. And when I quite literally beg for support from other people to keep a union going I often ponder: why the heck am I still even here?

I've been on a few hiatus' before on Gamespot and returned to a welcoming number of new Gamespot members and unions as I remember when I last left anyway that everything was in the same condition as it is now. Yet, if I'm being frank, the current new breed of Gamespot members have been obnoxious. Although on the topic of obnoxious - thats really the only thing I've econuntered here at Gamespot over the past few months the site has grown that distasteful. Obnoxious forum problems, obnoxious moderators, obnoxious design changes and overall obnoxious site content in general.

But yeah, by the time you folks have read this, I will of resigned from atleast ten of my unions. As for my leader role at Gamers EXP, its up for grabs to anyone who claims it first - I don't care anymore. If you guys want to keep in contact with me, you all know my PSN and XBL tags - they're posted around my profile. As for my MSN it is loopy_107@hotmail.co.uk and I'm also called loopy_101 on Skype.

I am slipping

I have been lacking on my monthly blogs & I am really sorry for that. I've been really wrapped up with work & working on a clothing line, graphic novel & opening a tattoo shop here in the city. I am a very busy man, BUT I will be putting up a blog this Sunday & they will come every month as I said they would before. By the way, I have a second job working at the new American Eagle Outfitters here in Times Square, New York which is a great job with great people to work with.

Windows 7
Finally got around to installing Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) on my XPS 420 last night.

Well here's a quick run down on the install.

First off it was QUICK. Damn Quick. It took around 20 minutes from start to new desktop.

No need to install drivers for the SATA controller (as you would with Vista) as this was detected and worked out of the box.

Once completed a quick check of device manager showed everything was detected, except my Sound Blaster X-fi. This was detected as a HIGH RESOLUTION AUDIO DEVICE or some such thing. When I say everything else I mean everything else. TV card, check. 19-1 card reader + bluetooth, check. GTX 295 video card, check. Dell 2408WFP monitor, check. The list goes on and on.

I did a quick Windows Update and updated drivers for all hardware including the X-fi were available, so I installed all of these.

Once the machine came back up from the reboot I installed Microsofts free anti-virus software Microsoft Security Essentials.

Something that really impressed me was most of my "video" files all worked out of the box, DVDs, XviDs, etc. Blu-ray on the other hand did not play. I'll check out Nvidia's PureVideo HD or something similar over the next few days as I come to grips with Microsoft's new OS.

So now the big question. Was it worth it? To be totally honest, no not really. It feels like a well tuned Vista, but I already had 1 of those.

If you do decide to update though be prepared for an extremely quick/painless experience. I'm up and running and I haven't downloaded any drivers at all other than the most up to date Nvidia drivers for my GTX 295, and I'm pretty sure they were available from Windows Update too.

Last night I started restoring my Steam games from a back up I created. When I finally woke up (after a night at the pub) ... NOTHING! The backups just kept locking Steam up. So I'm currently downloading Borderlands, and I'll get round to the rest of my games later.

It's been a while

... since I last posted here. How is everyone?

A lot has happen. I've got the car license and I'm sharing a Pegout 205 GT with my brother (don't think its a good car just cause it's named "GT")

Pretty neat uh?

I've also entered college. I'm doing architecture in Lisbon (it's about 300km away from my previous home...) I'm living with my brother maikedi, and both of us are full of work. I go to University every day at 8 am (waking up at 6:45) and I only return home at 8:30 pm. This happens 3 times a week! It's really tiring. The other 2 days I leave at 3 pm, nothing much...

Now for the good part...

I bought Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Only had time to play some times on the multiplayer online mode, and I'm already kickin!

This time I spent playing was in 1 weekend when I went back to Lagos, so obviously I didn't have time to play the story mode. If you see me online playing Uncharted, please join me, I really want to play with some of you. I'll be online maybe this weekend or in the next one. Be ready to face my wrath! =P

Letter from the Editor - Willy105

This will be the last issue of System Wars Monthly I will be publishing. It has been a nice 2 years of System Wars Monthly, and a great 4 years of being on Gamespot, but I believe it's finally time to say goodbye.

I have outlived every single non-staff user that I have been friends with when I first registered here, back when the Xbox 360 launched, the Revolution was a mystery, the PSP was beating the DS, and the PS3 was the most anticipated thing ever.

Now, things have chagned, and I m glad I lived thru these years on Gamespot. The game industry is a very different place, and Gamespot has changed dramatically. In fact, this is a completely different Gamespot from the one I registered into. Gamespot is now owned by a different company, and all it's original staff members are in another website (cough Giantbomb cough).

Still, I have been satisfied with my time here. I wish to thank all of the great personalities I have met over the years, like: Sonic54k, Animorphsfan, Tsug_Ze_Wind, Kccp2b, Kanedajj5757, K_Smoove, Kansasdude, AdobeArtist, Subrosian, KevinV, JeffG, Jethrovegas, Nintendofreak_2, Deadman1290, Hamstergeddon, Tjeremiah1988, TheEnd Boss, Penguino729, Greyhound222, CaseyWegner, MusicalMac, Zassimick, Darkspinslayer, Fabz_95, Brianfox1, Jynxzor, Crazy-Player, LegendofNerd, Magiciandude, Soulreavercross, Rocktimusprime, and Jandurin. And the System Warrior in me is satisfied of the Sheep Victory, now that Nintendo is back at #1.

I have done even more for Gamespot in general, but that is all I can find. I really want to thank JodyR and the Gamespot staff for keeping this big expensive website still running after all these years, even with the economic downturns and staff downsizes. It is an amazing feat that other game journalistsic websites could not do.

As for those coming in just now, and never got to the era in which me and other dinosaurs roamed Gamespot, make Gamespot a fun, better place, and try to go after what I tried to do.
