Closed Topic Reopened Here...

I wrote a very long message in a forum--only to find out that the topic had been closed.

The subject of the topic was what people thought about Stanley Tookie Williams.

Someone asked if Tookie were about to have his own talk-show or something.

The next person said that Tookie was due to be executed, if the governor didn't stop it from happening.

The next person said that the reason the question before the last question had been asked was to hint that this was off-topic.

As I said, I wrote a long response, but found out that the topic had been closed.

No use letting a long response go to waste, so I'm pasting it in this post...

I couldn't tell you this for sure, as I've been online more than I've been watching TV, but I would imagine that Tookie and his supporters/detractors/etc. have been on TV plenty.

Having said this, let me go on to say that I'm opposed to the death penalty (and, yes, I've had a loved one murdered, but that still doesn't change my position).

Even if I weren't opposed to the death penalty, there would be red flags going up in the case of Tookie.

Evidence has come out that there was nothing to link him to the crime--except for the gun that was used being in his name. But it was a gun he'd bought for someone else a long time before the murders took place. It's commonplace for gang members to have weapons. For whatever reason, it was easier for him to buy the gun than for whomever it was he'd bought it. Might not have even been the same person who had the gun last.

I'd heard that it was actually the person who'd had the gun last who'd turned Tookie in--either turned him in or else copped a plea for himself by giving "evidence."

One of the two founders of the Crips had been killed out on the street. It would be a feather in the cap of local law-enforcement to take out the other founder, so this would be a great reason to try to frame him.

The Crips had actually started out (original reason for Tookie and his buddy founding them) as a group to try to protect people of all ages from some smaller and more violent gangs that were taking things from even women and children.

Somehow, it got corrupted--after which, with bad reputation intact, it spread nationally and even internationally.

Unless I was just so much for the death penalty that I couldn't see straight (which seems to be the case with too many of the powers-that-be), I would also see that Tookie had grown up and was being effective at preventing countless of children from joining gangs plus even getting those (even older youth) who were part of gangs to get out.

IMO, the governor made a big mistake in not commuting Tookie's sentence to life-without-parole--or (if that somehow didn't seem "fair" to him to do that) simply put a morritorium on the death penalty for the state of California.

This is why Charlie Manson and Sirhan Sirhan are alive today--and, in the case of the first, he's much more unrepentant than Tookie. Why should Tookie repent of something he didn't do? Charlie Manson, on the other hand, might not have been there to do the actual murders, but he was the ringleader who governed things like an Antichrist, and his family simply followed orders (like mind-control).

Those who legally-murdered Tookie are just as bad as the gang-members who too often use uncivilized methods to "even the score."

Needed: Between One And Three Unslick Weekdays

As some of you might know, I have a trick-knee and can't afford to be out-and-about when it's slick out.

There are some errands I need to run at this time that will take between one and three days, so it would be nice to have between one and three days to get those done before it gets slick again.

However, it looks as if those days aren't in the very near future, even though it seems as if it's going to start warming up, starting sometime this Sunday.

If the temperature would remain above-freezing long enough to melt whatever ice is around, I could have an indefinite number of safe-to-navigate days at my disposal even if the temperature drops to zero, just so long as there's no precipitation during that time.

We've been having some light (dusting) snows around here but a considerable problem with slickness. My aunt says that she's heard that we're to expect around eight inches of snow sometime today.

I think that eight inches of snow is beautiful--but it would be nice to have some time on this side of the snow to get my outside ducks in a line.

Come January, I wouldn't mind having an entire week of being snowed-in and looking out on it. In fact, it sounds delightful.

However, it's slightly-inconvenient at this time.

Do you know what would be wonderful?

It would be wonderful to come into some big cash and, among other things, use a portion of it to order lots of books to read from Amazon.com, Alibris.com, and a few other dot-com places. Also, to stock up on packets of instant cocoa (I already have the marshmallows ready).

Anyway, what would be ideal would be to pay my bills way ahead so I don't have to think about running out to pay any.

Then, after the New Year, I can curl up with my books and cocoa and look out at the winter wonderland.

The ideal winter for me would be where I have a session of being snowed-in that would last between one and two weeks. The rest of the time, I'd be able to get out-and-about except for, perhaps, 2 or 3 more times where I'm snowed-in for 2 or 3 days at a time.

It would be a nice way to wind down from the last year and think about what I'd like out of the new one.

Anyway, I'm going to take a look and see whether the snow has come in yet.

Hopefully, I'll finish that story I'm writing about Henry Winkler--something I'm already more than halfway done writing.

Laters...

That looked as if it were going to make a live link, but I guess it changed its mind, so here's the URL:

Eau de Phew!

Just wanted to share the review that I was working on last night. I think you might find it amusing. Hope so...

"Tabu" Rhymes With "Pee-Yew!"...

Next thing on my menu will be to write about Henry Winkler!!!

This Little Piggie Sez, "OINK!"

Well! I see that I'm now a Sweat Hog!

Don't sweat a lot these days, but I do look a little (or a lot) like a hog.

Am currently working on a very amusing (my conceited opinion) product review.

If the following goes to it, it will mean that it's finished and posted. If it doesn't, it means that it hasn't been yet.

All you can do is try it out and see...

http://www.epinions.com/content_212650921604

Just rest assured that, eventually, it will.

What else is on my menu?

Two studmuffins!

I'm going to write a glowing review of Henry Winkler here--plus tell about being reunited with a guy who made me literally lovesick nearly 40 years ago!

The glowing review about Henry will be done right here--and the sequel to 1966 will be posted (among other places) at Epinions.com. Woo-hoooooooooooo!!!

For now, I need to finish that review so that--if it so pleases you--you can read it...

done! Done!! DONE!!!

I've finished all of the outside errands that were absolutely necessary to finish at this time and am now home and all ready to be snowed-in tomorrow!

Also, am ready to get back to writing that piece about a puppy love reunion.

I feel as if I've accomplished a lot today, even if it did take me awhile to accomplish it all!

Good Grief!!! What's Gotten Into Me, Anyway!?!

Have you noticed the tongue-out emoticon that goes along with instant messages and e-mail sent by people using AOL?

That's actually a picture of me!

What do you get when you cross "I'd rather be writing!" with "I've got important errands to run!"?

Answer: Chaos! Total Chaos!!!

Anyway, I'd rather be writing--and, specifically, writing about a very special reunion--but I have all of these other things to do first!

And--DRAT IT!!!--I can't find the blasted dictionary!!!

What does a dictionary have to do with things?

A lot!

It's a pocket dictionary, and I've written information in it re: what my mom and I owe in property taxes--plus lots of other information.

Think I can find it?

Nooooooooooooooo...

Anyway, gotta go! Perhaps, when I get back here again, I'll have my ducks in a slightly straighter line...We'll see...

About To Get Pushed Over The Top!?!

I notice that I've completed my Level One 100%. Does this mean that this blog-entry is going to give me the boost to get to Level Two?

Maybe...or...Maybe not...

All I know is that there's so much more that I want to do here, but my head and heart are full with other things at this time-which I'll be sharing with you later.

Not to worry...Good Things!!!

I've just had a dream to come true, and I still can't believe that it's really happened!!!

I need to write about it, if I can just put all of the words together in the right way to express all that I'm feeling now...Will be back here later--though I might stop and check in with a few people and places first...laters...

The Wee Hours Of The Morning--AGAIN!

It's the wee hours of the morning--AGAIN! (as in: When am I ever going to get around to keeping regular bedtime hours like a normal person?).

I'm cooking up a rice dish in the microwave and will be eating it when it's done--after which, I'll get back to editing a couple more items for our minister's wife who is taking a course in Christian counseling.

She's pleased with the work I've done for her so far--and I must say that I must be pretty good at this sort of thing, because I've been doing this when I'm not at my most perky (or anywhere near), thanks to my sleeping schedule being so out-of-whack.

When I've felt too tired to edit items properly, I've simply put them aside. This means very slow-going, but, at least, I'm being thorough.

Anyway, I'm now on my next-to-last one and have decided that I need a little nourishment.

I plan on taking a nice, long nap tomorrow (make that later today) and, then, getting some other things done.

Will be helping to decorate the church on Sunday evening.

I think it's about time to rescue my food, so I'm going to hang it up for now...

Oh WOW! I Drool Over Billy Preston & Get Rewarded With Another Blog!!!

(Pssssst! Henry Winkler! You're next!!!)

Somewhere during the last 24 hours, I turned 12 years old again--back to my days of watching Shindig and kissing the TV screen whenever Billy Preston came on!

I can see that I'm babbling...which tells me that the best pic of me to put up on my profile will be (if it fits here) my infamous BORN TO BABBLE one.

Anyway, I haven't been here very long, and I can already see so many possibilities here.

Just lovin' it!!!

Let me try to make some sense out of all of this babbling.

First off, I was in one of my nostalgic moods where I wondered what had become of this person and that person--and Billy Preston popped into my head.

My response was to Google him mercilessly--saving several of the sites to which I was directed into a folder called "Beyond Cute."

Up until then, this newly-created folder held a couple of bookmarks leading to a site about puggles (part pug and part beagle).

Now, it was filling up fast with Billy Preston bookmarks. So, there was only one thing to do: create a couple of folders within the folder with one of them containing all things Billy Preston and the other one containing all things puggle.

Then, I arrived here and found out that I could not only read about Billy but, also, write about him. Cool!!!

So I did!

Not only that, but I could also write my heart out about other people.

As I said, Henry Winkler is going to be next!

Woo-hooooooooooooooo!!!

I hope you like what I write--however, I know that I'll have at least one fan here: ME!!!

That's all for now...
