Tis The Season

Don't you just love it when somebody says that they'll do something and they end up not delivering the goods? I know I do. In my last blog, I told you guys I'd do a video blog and, well, I didn't deliver. I'm sorry about that. Things have been hectic around the office and at home, with the Holidays just around the corner, that I haven't had the time nor the desire to do a DBoy's Den. However, I have some vacation time coming my way over the Holidays, and I'll do my best to make one.

Moving on to video games now. Just yesterday, I completed Assassin's Creed II. It took me a while to get through it, but it wasn't because I had a hard time with the game. I just took my time and did a lot of stuff on the side, like assassination missions and so on. I really enjoyed the game a whole lot. Everything within Assassin's Creed II is a huge improvement over the first game. The combat flows evenly and elegantly, as does the parkour, and the story and characters are a huge step up from the previous game. As for the ending, it's a lot let disappointing than in the first game. However, I found myself wondering where Ubisoft are going with the series after witnessing this somewhat eye-widening ending. Regardless, Assassin's Creed II is a fantastic game which you should check out, even if you didn't like the first game. It's a very strong contender for my Game of the Year, that's for sure.

The next games I'll be playing might surprise some of you. Actually, these are two games I've downloaded off of Xbox Live. One of them is a classic. The other one came out at the beginning of 2009 and is part of the Games on Demand. I purchased Indigo Prophecy and Red Faction: Guerrilla. Why those two games? I decided to get Indigo Prophecy after watching Giant Bomb's quick look on the game. Actually, I wanted to get that game a long time ago, but never got around to doing so. Also, with Heavy Rain coming in 2010 from the same developers (Quantic Dream), I thought now would be as good a time as any to check it out. As for Red Faction, I saw it on the Games on Demand service and decided to download it. Never got around to playing it in January, and I'd seen that a couple of people had been playing it lately, including GameSpot's own Kevin Van Ord. Should be quite fun destroying everything.

If you guys want to know what my Game of the Year will be, amongst other things, you're going to have to head on over to "that other website I write for" to get the lowdown. We're doing a Best of 2009 special over there, and I hope you guys will come on over and check it out. Also, I've asked for Borderlands for Christmas (hell, I didn't know what to ask for this year), so I might be playing that on Christmas day and afterwards. Add to that the video blog and I'll be a busy bee during the Holidays. Nonetheless, I hope to see you online during that time so we can get some gaming on together.

Will I Ever Get To Shoot Eye Lasers With My Teacher!?

GUESS WHOSE HOLIDAY STARTED TODAY!? Thaaaat's right, your aunt Mary Anne's! Plus, mine. Ah, a 3-week holiday! There's a but, though -- I have 3 books to read and 3 essays to write. That gives me a week to finish one book and one essay.. This completely nulls the definition of HOLIDAY!! Goddamn, school. Isn't this time of the year meant for relaxing and receiving gifts?

Uuuuugh, FF8 came to the US Store. Nothing wrong with that, just that.. It's not coming to Europe until early 2010. Same with Vagrant Story, originally planned for release on Dec. 22. Why, Sony? WHY!? I'm currently watching part four of Game Diggin' Episode 3, and they're playing FF8. Ah, the nostalgia..

Oh, well. Yesterday's European update wasn't all bad, though. Well, most of the stuff has been on the US Store for quite a while now, but still. Got Braid and Brutal Legend's map pack 2. Pretty good stuff, I might say! I just started World 4 in Braid and so far, the game has been excellent! I'm so glad we PS3 owners finally get to experience this perfect combination of puzzle and platformer. The gameplay is fun and original, the story's surprisingly mature and the Mario references are hilarious. The only things I'm unhappy with are the fact that you can't die and that there're only 6 worlds. Well, actually, 5. It would seem like the world selection place counts as the first world. BL's maps I haven't tried out yet, but I'd like to if any of you want to have a stage battle in the near future!

Evening. Today's headlines are the following:

Playstation Blog Europe has revealed the European version of God of War III's LE, Pandora's Box. Here, the game will go under the title God of War: The Ultimate Trilogy Edition, which I sure as hell am hyped up for!! The pack will include everything in the US version, but rather than one costume per store (from which you pre-ordered), Trilogy Edition will have all 4 costumes. Also, as the name suggests, Collection will come with the box as well. AWESOME!! Information about preordering this kickass beauty as well as price and exact release date will come by early January. I'm so hyped, I'll go cosplay Kratos. Or not. Why a long, black skirt? Realism requires a loincloth.

SEGA announced that Sonic & SEGA All Stars Racing will have console exclusive characters, first revealing Banjo and Avatar characters for the 360. As signor HavQ likes not console exclusive content, even if the PS3 version would get Ratchet, he's not getting the game. I hate you again, SEGA.

Oh, by the way, BIG news for Persona fans! You know how the Persona developers split into two groups to work on separate games? One game was Persona 3 Portable. The other one is juuuust about finished, and producer Hashino Katsura promises it to be an extremely interesting new IP. After this, he said the teams would get back together to work on "THAT game". Persona 5, anyone!?

I'm happy I never got Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm. Why, you ask? Well, the sequel was announced today for BOTH 360 and PS3, despite the first one having been PS3 exclusive. It will feature new characters and modes, as well as support for 4-player matches and online. I might or might not get it in the end.

My Final Resident Evil Update For 2009

I have Web.com where my Resident Evil site is, and they have a new application where I can install a video game FLASH page on my site. Now I have room for another page, and I'm thinking about adding "The Umbrella Corporation's Arcade Room" where visitors/members can play all sorts of online video games of many different catagories. However none of the games would have anything to do with Resident Evil itself, but it would give some hands-on activities and fun to my site, so that it's not another one of those same old same old sites where it's just endless amout of text, images and video links. Now I don't care one way or another, but since you guys are the real visitors on my site, it's now up to you. Do you want me to install a video game section on my Resident Evil site?

If some of you have been wondering why the final Resident Evil page (Timeline) hasn't been published yet. Well there's a major delay on that. First I didn't realize that the text information that I have to provide is so much, and the editing page keeps on dying on me for just about everything, even for doing nothing. So it's giving me complications. Plus, for the Christmas season, I decided to take a temporary break from Resident Evil and currently into peaceful things, such as Christmas movies. I think it's time to give the extreme violence and R-rated things a time off. I will get back to work probally after Christmas, if not, after the New Year. And if this is my final update until Christmas or for the rest of the year I want to take this time to wish you allthe Merriest Christmas and a Happy New Year!

200 Games! And other general updates

Yup yup yup!!! I've finally hit the big 2-0-0!

I don't remember what all I bought since Batman and L4D, so bear with me. XD

Basically, I'm declaring Left 4 Dead 2 as my 200th game.

But I also got Brutal Legend and downloaded Star Trek D-A-C. keh.

Let's see here...well, I took advantage of Best Buy's Black Friday doorbuster sales this morning and picked up both L4D2 and Brutal Legend for $35 each. Excellent. While I was at it, I got Simpsons Season 12 and Family Guy Vol 7 for $15 each. Excellent. The only problem here is...seeing as I'm spending this weekend at home, I can't play my new games til I'm back at school!

I downloaded Star Trek D-A-C kind of on a whim...and in my opinion it's not that bad. But just to be fair, I'm probably the only one who actually enjoys it, lol.
I don't think I really mentioned this yet, but, I adore Left 4 Dead. I just find it that fun. @_@;

I've also been buying a ton of movies and stuff lately...namely Star Trek (2009) Steelbook edition, Dragon Ball Z seasons 3 and 6 (the Freeza and Cell Games sagas), Galaxy Quest, Star Trek Picard Movie Collection, Star Trek Alternate Realities box set, Forrest Gump....yeah, movies n' box sets. It's good to be a nerd!

College life is awesome. So many girls~!
(oh, btw, I broke up with my girlfriend last month. I won't go into the details but take comfort in knowing I am so much better off without her ^_^)
ROTC is as amazing as ever. I can't wait til I graduate and enter active duty...but they say college is the best experience of your life so I'll take the time to enjoy it first XD
The only downside is the homework. Lots and lots of homework. And I mean LOTS and lots of homework. But, I manage. It's all good.

Life's basically been a steady routine for me; PT, shower, c-lasses, homework, video games and/or movies, homework, sleep, repeat. I guess I can't complain much on that. ^_^

Ummmmmm...

Hope everybody had a Happy Thanksgiving and a Happy Black Friday! I know I did.
My sister might have been traumatized. She's a vegetarian and my dad decided to chase her with the frozen turkey. ^___^;;

Games for has just been put on the backburner for quite sometime now, the reason being that I've been in school and working. So of course on the weekends when I am off I sleep my life away. I've been missing out on all the new games that has been coming out and I'm here to get back on track. Since I'm out of school now I can have some time to taste the new fruits of the gaming indusrty.

So this weekend I decided to pick up two games which are....

nba 2k10 I plan to practice on this game for a week or two before I start playing it because the difficulty and new features are totally different from last year.

wwe smack I've already completed Randy Ortons "Road to Wrestlemania"! But for some reason this game is just ok as of right now. Nothing is speacial about it so far... So maybe I need to just keep playing, the game is so quite also. Wierd!

Bioware and Dragon Age
A couple quick things: Bioware's marketing team is amazing, no questioning that. We can, and need to, however, question Biowares ability to put out good RPGs consistently - Dragon Age: Origins is by far their worst outing, after great games in KoToR and Mass Effect...I'm sorry Bioware but this is the last time i'm buying anything made by you guys, not because you don't have a good track record and could possibly bounce back in the future but you practically lied about everything DA: O is, but you crafted your lies very carefully and fooled a bunch of people - to the point that these same people are actually praising the game today...and how much did you pay critics to give you the thumbs up and five stars?

So, NaNoWriMo Has Officially Started...

The only question is, am I going to participate this year?

Well, I'm going to give it a shot, but I still can't be totally sure I'll be able to make it to 50,000 words and be proud of the 50,000 words I've written. Ever since I found out about NaNoWriMo, I've been racking my brain, trying to think of something to write about and, while I have a few basic plot points down; I don't have the story fully outlined the way I want it yet. Some people have told me to just start writing and fill in plot details as I go but I don't know if that will work for me. I've tried that in the past and it's never worked out well for me.

The main concept I have been kicking around and will likely go with is a spy novel, starring three agents working for a top secret black ops organization within the NSA (which I haven't named yet...) is codenamed "Silver Bullet" and has absolutely nothing to do with werewolves, despite said codename. I have the first couple of chapters outlined, a few important plot points including the major plot twist that occurs near the end and, of course, the end. I figure that's enough to go on for now but I keep second guessing myself. There's a lot of research that I still need to do in order to present something that's reasonably accurate as government agencies, weaponry, tactics and covert operations aren't fields I typically study but I'm relatively sure that I know enough about these fields to write something that's reasonably accurate and believable, at least to the average reader.

I have another concept in mind involving vampires but they seem to be the flavor of the month right now and I want to write about something that's not so common in…everything these days (I call that the Twilight effect). The only problem with not going with this is the fact that I feel like this concept would be easier to write. I already have most of the story planned out and filling in the plot as I go along wouldn't be terribly difficult, or at least not as difficult as I perceive my original concept to be.

Now I know the goal of NaNoWriMo isn't to produce prize winning works of pure literary genius but I don't want to produce a steaming pile of garbage either. I want something that's readable and at least mildly interesting. Perhaps this is just me second guessing my ability as a writer but I honestly don't know if I can deliver that in 30 days, as much as I'd like to, especially now that I'm behind schedule with my outlining. Today is the first of the month and I'm supposed to write the first 1,667 words of my novel today and I haven't yet done that. Perhaps I can get enough of the outlining done tonight to have a solid idea of where I'm going with this and be comfortable enough to actually start writing. I don't know. I guess I'll find out shortly after I've concluded this blog post and gone back to my outlining.

If any of you have any tips or suggestions, let me know, I'll certainly be glad to hear them.

Letter from the Editor - Willy105

This will be the last issue of System Wars Monthly I will be publishing. It has been a nice 2 years of System Wars Monthly, and a great 4 years of being on Gamespot, but I believe it's finally time to say goodbye.

I have outlived every single non-staff user that I have been friends with when I first registered here, back when the Xbox 360 launched, the Revolution was a mystery, the PSP was beating the DS, and the PS3 was the most anticipated thing ever.

Now, things have chagned, and I m glad I lived thru these years on Gamespot. The game industry is a very different place, and Gamespot has changed dramatically. In fact, this is a completely different Gamespot from the one I registered into. Gamespot is now owned by a different company, and all it's original staff members are in another website (cough Giantbomb cough).

Still, I have been satisfied with my time here. I wish to thank all of the great personalities I have met over the years, like: Sonic54k, Animorphsfan, Tsug_Ze_Wind, Kccp2b, Kanedajj5757, K_Smoove, Kansasdude, AdobeArtist, Subrosian, KevinV, JeffG, Jethrovegas, Nintendofreak_2, Deadman1290, Hamstergeddon, Tjeremiah1988, TheEnd Boss, Penguino729, Greyhound222, CaseyWegner, MusicalMac, Zassimick, Darkspinslayer, Fabz_95, Brianfox1, Jynxzor, Crazy-Player, LegendofNerd, Magiciandude, Soulreavercross, Rocktimusprime, and Jandurin. And the System Warrior in me is satisfied of the Sheep Victory, now that Nintendo is back at #1.

As for those coming in just now, and never got to the era in which me and other dinosaurs roamed Gamespot, make Gamespot a fun, better place, and try to go after what I tried to do.

Got a month of gold just to play this and its been worth it really enjoyed it. I hope they bring out a few more intresting maps in the future though as Ive got bored of the 3 you get.

Played a day of this always loved Harvest moon and this one is great. Only thing that annoys me is the touchscreen stuff can be a bit fiddly.

oh and I also got Rome imperal glory? I think off stream where you like build citys...man that game is great! and cheap.

E3 for me!!

If there is one time in gaming that i am excited for that would be for E3. I am always excited to see whats coming out for Microsoft and Nintendo. So My countdown on Monday was awesome until the actual moment when Gamespot started to brodcast the live Microsoft show and all it was for me was a white screen. I refreshed and refreshed but still nothing. SO i had to go to IGN where the audio was choppy but it worked and no video which bittered me. Then i found Gametrailers.com where you could watch a minute of the video and then stop and you had to refresh the screen. I was so angry.

So i watched the brodcast on Tuesday on Gamespot which worked and i must say I was super excited for what Microsoft is doing. Modern Day Warfare 2 Stole the show. Thats going to be an amazing game and I can't wait for November. But I must say that I was in awe when i saw Project NATAL!!!!!! I watched that bit several times. I showed my son and my wife. The only thing that i could compare it too is a Star Trek Holodeck program. WOW. That was amazing how the girl interacted with Milo.

So I couldn't wait for the Nintendo show because I am also a big Nintendo fan. So my countdown was on and the exact same thing happened where it was a white Screen. Again super bitter. But i went to Gametrailers.com again and there was no issue with that site this time. Nintendo put on the worst show that i have ever seen. It was so dissapointing. There was really nothing that was exciting about the show. It was borring and no big announcements. A very casual approach to the biggest gamming convention of the year.

I didnt realize that the Sony show was on after the Nintendo disaster so i had to wait until today to watch it. It was good they had some big announcements and their Wii remote knockoff is looking way better then what the Wii has done. MAG is looking so fantastic I couldn't believe it. I didn't know anything about that game until this morning. Imagine 256 players all at once????

My final thoughts are that Modern Day Warfare 2 stole the show and then MAG looks liek a pant load of fun. As for innovation PROJECT NATAL was incredible. Well onto the Tokoyo game show and then anticipte some awesome releases this year and then E3 2010. Thats it for now.

These are the times that try mens souls

That is the first sentence from Thomas Paine's "The Crisis" which he wrote during the darkest days of the revolutionary war. We are in the calm between the storm. The looming signs of wars, depressions and socialitle collapse are but a taste of what we will face in this new age. Many do not understand how different we as a society are in relation to all human history. We are charting into new territory in disregarding the differences in male/female natures, forgetting our own history, our constitution and becoming too dependent on the state. Once people embrace the doctrine of "getting something for free for doing nothing", which is what socialism is, they ultimately will lose all their freedoms. Once you take money from someone and give it to someone else no matter how well intentioned, it always losses' value through the taxing of it and then even so, will only hinder that persons drive to succeed. While many people celebrate our new president, they will likely suffer the most; because while they will believe Barrack Obama will bring them happiness (through government freebies)--what they are really doing is becoming slaves to the state, while the rest of us prepare and prevent such a scenario.

My dad got an AR-15 (Assault Rifle like M-16) for his birthday. It cost around $1200 and is a lot of fun.

I got rid of a lot of my games and have decided to slowly stop playing. I'm not sure if I will eventually quit but for now it's alright if I don't play during the week. I also would like to eventually stop watching much TV. I have become more interested with something meaningful; such as reading.

I have been working for Little Caesars, for three months now (part time).

As many of you know, the TV show "24" is my favorite show. While I think it was still better than other shows on TV, it was diffidently my least favorite season yet. OMG if Jeneen Garafadumbo, is on next year, I'm going to be pissed. I hate that witch; and she's a horrible actress for the part of FBI!

I have started attending Brown Mackie College and will be going for my associate's degree in Criminal Justice. I will be going full time and I complete 1 ****every month for 2 years to get my first degree.

My current belief in religion is that I view myself as Judeo-Christian. Which I see as believing in Jesus as the Messiah but also find the Jewish laws very good as well.

I have read and bought quite a few books since my blog in January. However, one that has really affected me is "Mao: The Unknown Story". Once you read this biography of Mao, you won't believe how truly evil he and Communism were and are. It goes over his whole life and talks a lot about Stalin as well as a lot of other big commies. It is a very easy read, considering it is around 600 pages. However, it is an extremely important, interesting, and is a must read for all (although it gets a bit graphic, so it's not a children's book.).

Uninteresting Blog Title Here

Yes I know its long overdue. I've been out in the field for months around Zanzibar kicking ass and such. I just wanted to say hi and that I'm not dead or anything. Hope all of you have been doing well and enjoying your games and life and all that goody goody crap.

I'm going to try and get back into my gaming blogs again. Working on a MGS4 one but that may take a while so don't hold your breath. I can't afford to have any civilian deaths on my record.

Fear I can't forget.
All I can think about lately is Resident Evil 5 and how pleases I am by it yes there is some bias cuz I am a huge Resident Evil fan but seriously as far as the story went I liked it alot. The files in the Liberary are actually very informational and really gave me deeper insite on the story they are not just cheap Character bios which I first dismissed them for, they actually flow nicely with the story and is a fun throwback to the countless files one had to read back in the older games. Also the in game files are fun to read and one I really like becuase it is a Plaga version of the now famous itchy-cratchy files everyone who played RE1 remembers. Proof that even in a high deff generation game text can still add alot to a game!

I am again planning to replace my normal weekends of drinking with friends with playing RESIDENT EVIL 5 there is still alot I wanna do and I don't feel like putting it down.

Crossing 10,000 points

I did it! It only took me about two and a half years. I was playing Street Fighter IV when I unlocked the Crowd Pleasing Master (Perform 10 Personal Actions) achievement to get to 10,006. Then I beat Arcade Mode on medium with no continues to get 30 more points and unlock Akuma. It was a fitting reward for the occasion. Woo hoo!

OMG! No internets....

As you may have noticed, I dont come here much lately, I been out of internet for like 2 months.....
