Fond Eulogy to Circuit City.

I have to say a fond farewell to Circuit City. Goodbye and farewell to the creepy older uncle of Best Buy. Somehow you always made me feel as if buying electronics was somehow akin to buying a used car. Your store layout was always terrible, your employees often looked as confused as I was. You always made me feel a little uncomfortable. You had games locked away in a small corner cage as if they were reptiles at the zoo. I'll miss tapping on the glass. I'd get an ipod jack put into my car for old times sake, but with no accountability due to your closing, I'm afraid I'd find my car up on blocks in the back lot. I have so many fond memories of wanting to leave your store to go to Best Buy. You will be sorely missed. I am comforted by the fact that I can always drive to Canada to be visually molested by your dull grey interior design.

Your gleeful sarcasm fails to take into account the fact that another 30,000 people are now out of work. THAT should be a boon to any economic stimulus.

LOL it's funny because it's true!

I kind of liked Circuit City. They had good deals on PC games.

Sorry to hear you didn't like the company. They used to guarantee all their prices against the listed price of competitors (if it was more expensive, they'd knock 10% off their competitor's price), and their return policy was excellent. I liked Circuit City, and it's sad to see 30,000 people out of work.

I totally agree that it's tragic 30,000 people lost their jobs. I have good friends who have been laid off recently. But you have to admit from a customer standpoint the overall experience of walking into Best Buy and walking into Circuit City was completely different. It's like comparing the I-phone to a top of the line Blackberry, yes the Blackberry is probably a better phone on paper, but the I-phone just makes you feel awesome. In my mind, Circuit City may have had the best prices and plans, but they always failed to make a customer feel awesome about their purchase, and that is why they are going out of business.

O_O That's going a bit far don't you think? You didn't need to write a paragraph on why you prefer Best Buy to Circuit City--they aren't that different. And besides, neither of them can beat Wal-Mart prices.

I completely agree with you. Everytime I went in there it was always horrible customer service, last time I went in there was for an RF adaptor cause I bought a TV for $15 for my wife so she could watch tv in the bedroom and it had coaxial hook up so we needed an RF adaptor and they laughed at me and tried to sell me a $1000 tv instead. There's no question in my mind why this store went under. As far as I'm concerned they deserved it.

Now that best buy has no real competition now there just want you to call me Buy

Even though Circuit City was admittedly a creepy older uncle, prices were always cheaper than Best Buy. Always.

I really didn't care for their store layout... i always felt cramped in their stores. Plus their prices were never really all that great. Best Buy beat them up pretty bad too. See ya Circuit City.

LOL. Dude, this is funny and true at the same time.
Yet, that is not a good enough reason for 30,000 people to get laid off.

You sound as informed and bias as GameSpot reviewers...lol

Circuit City reminds me of Comp USA

About Me

Hey dudes, yes of I’m from Northern California, no I don’t use the word “hella” very often. I’ve been in and around GameSpot for the better part of a year now. At the moment I do media capture? What is media capture? I play videogames and hit the record button. I also stomp on a floor petal when something cool happens, thus the screenshot is born. I get to play a lot of games pre-release but often for no more than 15-20 minutes. I am the king of first impressions.
