Monster Hunter, oh how I love you.

I recently wrote a review for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for the PSP, (it's not there yet I don't think, it better show up, what ever.) In the review, I pointed out that I love, respect, and honor what Monster Hunter has done, and that in a blog id actually explain that in detail, so here I am.

First let me say that I am not blinded by my own guilty pleasure, I can tell that Monster Hunter has many issues in the sense that the combat can make you want to rip your hair out, that most games are just updates off of an older version, and so on. I give most every MH game an 8.5, for the average gamer, but for me, Monster Hunter is 9.5 and higher, why? Because I believe, fully, that well we have games like Final Fantasy, Draqon Quest and other great RPGS pushing the RPG genre, and then we have Halo, Half Life 2, and so on, pushing FPS, I feel that Monster Hunter has pushed adventure further then most games have. I know that Zelda games are awesome, but just there is something that MH gives you that no other game does in this genre, and that's the feeling of godlyness.

Monster Hunter is the type of game, that when you start it up for the first time, select new game, you are going to be worthless technically. You will have the hardest time killing things, you will have no gear, no money, no wisdom, and most of all, no understanding of the complex game that is Hunting monsters. If you are fearless enough, and have enough patience, then you can get all the way to the ending where you face off against such creatures known as Fatalis, and more. These ending monsters have god like status as well, which makes the battle, either alone or with friends, such a moment that it's hard to describe. It's like you have finally arrived, here you are, against the big cheese, no games anymore. He won't run, he wants you dead. Though this isn't the only thing I mean by god like status for you.

It also goes hand and hand that once you have become so great in the game, gone so far, that if you look back at the troubles that were, at once impossible, they are now so easy that you do them just for parts or money. The best moment ever is when you partner up with true noobs to the series. To you, they are the fragments of your past, reminding you of what you once had to go through. All their complaining, all their anger was once yours. When they meet the Rathalos for the first time, and you are standing beside them, not even flinching, it truly does make you feel like, you are some type of warrior that no one can mess with. It might sound pathetic, to be talking about a game in such a passionate way, but perhaps that is the mystery to why some people simply don't get Monster Hunter.

In the end, to best describe it, it's as if Monster Hunter is the best example of making you feel like a character, man or woman, that is unstoppable. When you pull your great sword, or gun lance, or fork and knife (ha) and take on the creatures before you, blocking their attacks and getting pushed far yet your armor makes it childs play, you recover with out a sweat, as your noob trainees are being thrown around. It makes you feel like a Solider First Class, like Sephiroth from Final Fantasy 7, it makes you feel like a Captain in Bleach. Like a high rank ninja in Naruto, like Goku in Dragon Ball Z.

This is the passion that Monster Hunter gives, and I put my sword on the line that says, a good percentage of fans, that play Monster Hunter, all feel the same way. This is why I love Monster Hunter, I love seeing the reviewers give it 7 out of 10, or sometimes as low as 5. It shows they simply don't get it, and the game is far from broken if so many fans are enjoying it, here, or mostly in Japan. It is hands down one of the best selling games for PSP, and not because it's too hard or too broken. It's just simply seperating the weak people who can't enjoy a hard game, like the games of old, and the people who truly sink their teeth into it. The game has pulled no strings, it's hard, and it knows it, every MH game that has come out, has never made the game easier, or at least too much easier. I hope it doesn't become like some of the games that had almost impossible releases in the past, and then their counter parts in the now time are easy.

An example of another game that has remained hard, is Ninja Gaiden, though I still believe the original is far more difficult, or at least it was when first playing it. Either way, honestly, if you feel like you want to try out the world of Monster Hunter, give it a buy, Freedom Unite is only 39.99 here in Canada. It's not too expensive and it's a good side buy, compared to the games that are now 60+ dollars. If you get a wifi Max (not sure what that is, ask me) and Xlink Kai, you can play the game online, it's a 60 dollar tool but, it's only for the hard core fans so don't worry about it, but if you do give me a message. Though I'm mostly only interested in noobs since I have my own hunting party of higher levels. Either way, thats the world of Monster Hunter, it isn't going anywhere, and I never want it to.

The Games I am Looking Forward To

Alright, since everyone is doing this, I guess I will list some of the games I am waiting for, or the games that are already out that I really want to play. I'm not going to take this blog post seriously, meaning if I spell something wrong, or some such thing like that, I won't care enough to correct it. So if you're one of those people that goes ape over errors, this is a heads up.

First game on my list is "Monster Hunter Freedom Unite" for psp. I simply can't wait for this, I am a huge MH fan and enjoyed the PS2 games, and the PSP installments. I'm one of the people that gladly put 200 hours or more into MH, and just simply couldn't stop playing it. MHFunite has some new interesting features, (like your cat partner, oh yeah) If you are a fellow Hunter, let me know, I believe this game franchise is becoming more and more popular. Not an easy game, that is for sure, it's a game that really busts your balls, though that is the reason why people like me play it. We don't want easy controls, we don't want easy bosses or enemies, we want to sweat and bleed for our rewards. Only a Hunter or old school gamer will understand this. If you are the type of person that gets back up after being knocked down, give MH a try, seriously.

Another game is, as funny as it is, Monster Hunter 3 for Wii, I won't say much about it though mainly because I already talked about Unite, but I like how more and more Monster Hunter games are coming out.

I also want to try Ghost Busters, it sounds neat and I grew up watching the movies, loved the comedy and the FX, the story and music. As I type this, the theme song is actually stuck in my head. The online for PS3 and Xbox360 sounds simply awesome to me, being able to catch ghosts with friends, I just find it sad that the PC's online got shafted, but it's also only 29.99 brand new, so what ever.

Assassins Creed 2...I want this game badly. I actually never played the first one until recently. I had other games I wanted to play and some gamers gave such negative reviews, I thought it would be best to avoid it for the time. Now that I have played it I..just can't believe I listened to them. It's such an awesome experience. The complaints about the repeating game play things, come on seriously..almost every game repeats. Though everyone has an oppinion, I'm just happy mine isn't theirs. So heres to looking towards AC 2, looks good so far.

Final Fantasy has been part of my life ever since my parents bought me the first one for Nintendo, way back on some random easter holiday. Not even kidding, I forget how old I was, I forget the year, but I got it. Didn't know what it was, didn't know hwo to play it, and hated the crap out of it. It wasn't until I got FF7 that I realized the name was familiar, and that i owned the first one. I beat FF7, went to FF1, played that, then went up from there. I enjoy FF, it's not everyones prefered RPG brand but It's part of my childhood in some weird way. FF13 is looking pretty snazy, and Versus looks amazing as well. Along with Dissidia..wow going to be getting my FF fix soon.

Of course I can't forget about Alan Wake, the new MGS games..there is wayyyy too much to list, even Splinter Cell's coming back..I just can't take it..I'm going to be broke.

Anyway, I can't think straight right now, 2:30 in the morning haha, I was bored. The next reviews I plan on giving are for infamous, and Prototype..so if you like those games or are wondering about them..check out my reviews. I also want to do a blog debating the differences between the two games. So look out for it.

Albert Wesker, arch villian yet?

I wonder, I wonder if we as gamers see Albert Wesker as an arch villian yet? The list of villians that really changed or moved video games forward in their respected genre or all of gaming, is long. Names we simply can not forget. Like Bowser from Mario or Gannon from the Zelda games. We have, Sephiroth, Kefka, Shredder, M.Bison and the many other big fighting names from Street Fighter that appeared over time. You know, I'm not even going to talk about the list because really, the lists possible length could be endless. It's all about the players I guess and their own opinions, so really the list could just be a few names, or into the sky.

I think there is one though that everyone see's as cool, but not really a villian, and that is Albert Wesker from resident evil. I don't know why, maybe it's just me who doesn't see him as a villian. It puzzles me because he has been through all the logical steps to become one. Don't get me wrong, he is for sure the bad guy, but Umbrella in a whole seems more like a villian, more than Wesker. Nemesis seemed more a villian than Wesker ever was. Could be because through out the history of games, Wesker only appeared in a few, and in the new RE5 Wesker plays well, the villian role. He is there, you need to get to him, and kick his ass. In this Re he is actually there...in the others he always played in the shadows.

He seemed more like the 2nd final boss before the end one. Being before Umbrella in a whole, or more so the character with all the cards, but in the end being owned to Umbrella. Though if you play the games more and really get into the story you start to realize just how important and powerful Wesker really is. The question is though, is this new Wesker in RE5 really an improvement? I'm talking like, funky battle suit, trench coat, and these new flashy shades? What happened to the Wesker with his black uniform in Code Veronica? His black shades..this new Wesker seems like a reject from some type of fashion reality tv show.

He also has way too many powers, as in being able to basically move so fast you can't see him. How did he get that fast? What next? Will he be able to fire beams from his palms? I could believe his super human strength in Code:V because of the injection, but now he just seems to be a druggy, taking new experimental shots, in the end making him a fusion between The Matrix and his former self. In the end though, is he still "The Cool Guy" like he was in re1? I don't know, it's hard to know.. his cool and bad ass value for me has kinda decreased. Mostly because he now has people working with him, following him around, and you know where he is. I want Wesker back as in, you never know what he is up to.

If you are going to make us fight him in a RE game, then make it the last fight, and after make Wesker die. RE5 in a whole shows old RE enemies, and shows the connection between RE4 and the others. Just Wesker got a bad dose of queer eye for the straight guy, Neo taught him how to fight, Chris got into steroids, Jill watched too much Americas Next Top Model and thought blonde was the way to go, and we got a random new character who is more cliche than a box of cheerios.

In the end, Wesker needs a good part soon, seriously. It seemed like they tried to make him be more of a part of the story, but they could have done what they did, with Wesker behind a TV screen. As soon as you fight him and actually hurt him..well..Wesker aint a god no more. He was more of a god in RE1, and he did not even have any super strength. How? Because he was simply the guy with the shades, pulling the strings, and making your entire party go through hell and he moevd through the mansion and so on, totally un touched and always got the drop on you. Well that is until the ending but still..oh well.

Time is Ticking.

Everyone on the face of the planet has something they are interested in. Something that..they even obsess over, could be anything from books, video games, movies, authors, girls, boys, pens, cars, it is endless but it is also something that divides us. Before you continue on reading though, let me just make one thing clear so no one gets upset, confused or angry. This is a blog post that will not deny religion but as a means of power, out performs that of a god or godly figure in many religions. This is an opinion of science, so in this writing I am not de-bunking or trying to attack any ones religion. I understand that it can be mistaken as such, but as such is not the case. This also has nothing to do with games or politics of any shape or form or very little, so if you are still interested, please keep on reading.

From what I was talking about before, something I obsess over is Time. Yes, Time, something so simple as the measurement of passing hours, minutes, days. You might be wondering, even more so if you are a member of the younger gamers out there or blog readers, what is so special about Time? Why does Time have a capital T when you write it? Well I will tell you why as long as you sit back and take in what I'm trying to say and don't go over bored with it. See this as..a tid bit for your brain to digest and think about. First off, the reason why I am writing Time with a capital, is because Time is an invention, a name for something that was invented a long time ago.

People can argue about if there is suppose to be a capital T or not but that is not what I'm trying to bring out here, Time is in fact something we created. As a species, we developed this way of measuring the passing years. You might be saying, well what about other species on other planets, they would have Time as well right? Wrong, they won't have Time, they would have something similar but it would not be called Time. They would call it what ever they want in their native language, but then you might go, well wait. Isn't time just that..something that passes by as in, in Time people grow old? First off to continue in this blog I will have to explain, that Time is just the name we gave to this grand scale that is ticking in space some where, so we, as a species, could understand it.

We knew, a long time ago, that we grow old and die, but it wasn't until we developed Time, did we start asking...how long do we have? Interested now? It makes you wonder, was there always this ticking sound that we all hear? Or did the creation of Time spark our doom? So let's go back to the basics here, when humans first came to life on this planet through what ever ways you want to believe, we simply did not know that there was a grand scale of Time. The sun rised, set, over and over but just like anything else..it was just that..the sun moving. Then..like a spark of life, we found Time. The first way's of keeping track of time were classic..shadows created by the Sun, so it's almost like a gift from that beautiful giant star.

If you are the type of person to shrug things off, and all you care about is your next pay check, or your next game, then you really won't care about this at all, but if you are someone like me, you will already be thinking away. Time is everywhere, it's in our minds, on our wrists, in our games keeping track of our progression, always watching, and never letting us go back. Did you even notice that in all the troubles in your life? Did you ever notice that well life might be hard, and the economy might be dropping, wars, that we can't go back? This is what we are..this is the mark we leave, this is your life, my life, our life as a species. Time was always here, watching the dinosaurs even, they just were not aware.

Though look at us, we know Time. That is how great we are, that is our POTENTIAL. We know, something that no other species on this planet know about, we have descovered the grand father clock of life. What do we do though? We spend our Time on worthless matters, over money, fame, is it worth it? When you are on the last few minutes of Time, on your death bed, will this all be worth it? Time does not care about you, or your desires, it just knows that it's ticking away and you are running out. The moment you are born you are put on a limit, like a battery. It might be harsh but it's the truth, you are dying the moment you are born.

Even so, I can't continue with this, because I could talk for hours about Time and what we as humans are doing with it. I guess in a way, I can't blame anyone, it's who we are, only reacting on the last few ticks of our clock. Moments before humans are gone, we will realize what we have done and try to save our selves but Time simply will not care. In this sense I believe that, Time is the ultimate force, it can not be stopped, it will always tick, tick, tick.....what are you going to do with your Time?

Xbox 360 and gamer tag.

So I finally got my hands on an Xbox 360..an elite actually for only 260 dollars (With tax included) got it used but its in good condition and it keeps it self pretty cool so I'm guessing it's not going to die on me too quickly, that and I have it off the ground with pads under the corners..being a pc guy I keep all my things clean, blowing them out with compressed air and so on, Xbox will get no less treatment so I'm not exactly fearing the red ring. Anyway my gamer tag is

Duplex Burkhard, I only own Dead Rising though, you can blame that for me getting a 360..after playing the Wii version I just had to get the 360 for it. I already own Gears of War on pc but if you can recommend any other good Xbox games (Not halo please, not a fan) then just add a comment or add me!

About Me

I like games that challenge me, and supply a wealthy amount of entertaining gameplay. But I LOVE games that put me into a new world, make me feel like I have an actual purpose within the game. Example, Shadow of The Colossus. I don't care If you argue with me, I don't care if you think xbox is better then ps2, or ps2 is better then xbox, and I don't care if you hate the games I love. Im mature enough to know its just opinions, and if you can't deal with that like an adult, then thats sad.
