initial impressions on operation flashpoint: Dragon Rising

Well yesterday i decided to go out and buy ofp:dr and i can safely say its good so far, i am only on the third mission but i am loving it, everything about it seems to be good the graphics are a little dissapointing but everything else seems great, my first reaction when getting shot at was HOLY S**T! because you can feel the bullets whizzing past and the dirt kicks up all over you its so intense. The game a few issues however, becasuse you can sometimes die instantly i was in a fire fight and an enemy who was rediculously far away got me square in the head, still the most annoying issue is how you can sometimes tkae one shot and some enemies can take 5, its just confusing. The game itself is a lot more violent than i initially thought with grenade kills being extremely satisfying. So far i am really enjoying this game, expect a review very soon

No PS3 !! AAAAARGHH!!

Panic time . It's holiday times for me and disaster struck !! My television gave up , at least, it has problems . All out of nothing a vertical green stripe across the screen appeared . I have a Panasonic Viera TH42 and something . It was only two years old and never caused any problems before ! My local store took the tele back and gave me a substitute...without a HDMI interface !! Since my PS3 functions as a DVD, blu-ray and video games tool I am unable to use it anymore . What's more, I don't have the stuff to connect it via SDTV, and I can't lower myself to do so, either !! It's been two weeks since they've taken it, and I haven't heard anything yet . i searched forums etc. and found out that it is a known problem...that can't be solved at a low cost ...I am exited to see what will come out of this...

In the meantime, all I can do is play a little civilization 4 or Sup Com on my notebook ....

Gaming: a $60+ experience?

Now i'm not one to complain much, heck I don't really have much to complain about. But the prices of videogames? There just getting outrageous. For a long time games have been $60 and people have probably gotten used to it. But with the next gen systems games supposedly supposed to be made at around 40 million(?) the price will almost undoubtedly go up from $60, to arm and a leg. I have always been the type that chooses quality over quanity, its just who I am but, this new stuff just won't cut it. No, I wont stop gaming, but those devs better make the best freakin games possible if the prices go any higher than $60. At that point there wont be a hit-and-miss. It'll be hit what the public wants or else SLASH, your gone.

Of course some of these bigger corporations probably wont have to worry since they can diversify. In fact I think just about every company is trying to diversify. I dont know if this is an evolution in the business or what but when I see Square Enix making a 3rd person shooter, well you know there trying to make money somehow. Who knows really what the future might hold. Downloadable games are getting evermore popular, and there cheap(most of the time anyways). Maybe gaming will be phased out jk. But this is definitely a difficult time for everybody, and thats coming from a 15 year old.

If anything fellow gamers I would expect less and less games to be developed for the next gen(when it gets here) ang this gen will be milked and milked til' theres nothing left. Still yet I expect this generation of consoles just might outlast the aging PS2 and -cough- -cough- xbox and gamecube. What the future holds may be vey exciting, a real revolution in the way we play videogames.

My final statement is this: Since videogames are going to be way more expensive to produce in the future, developers will probably try to innovate and get the most out of this generation. That and the next generation will probably HAVE to sell well, or elso a lot of developers are gonna go outta business or be bought and consumed by the bigger corps.

Video Reviews Getting Worse

Alright, so it's no big secret that this site has lost some key personalities, but it seems to me that the past few video reviews I've seen on this site are just plain bad. The most recent one I've seen is for The Bourne Conspiracy. This guy just drones on for five minutes about the combat mechanics. It never mentions the game's strong points or weak points, how many hours of gameplay, technical performance (graphics, framerate, etc.), in fact the video review doesn't even show the review score.

Bourne punches and shoots, I get it. Tell me whether the game is worth my money or not. This site is going downhill fast. Is giantbomb.com finished yet?
