Blogs Are Back: Modern Warfare 2, Fifa 10, GTA: Liberty City Stories + More
So I haven't posted really in a long time but thats because during the long months of summer I got really bored of gaming. Playing Infamous, Uncharted 2, COD:MW 2, Ballad of Gay Tony, and Fifa 10 has brought me back and I've been loving every minute of it.
First of all, I really want to play Borderlands...any of you play it? It looks so awesome and I wish I had the money to get it right now but I may have to hold off for now. And what about Assassin's Creed II...anyone who has it want to tell me a bit about it. I didnt mind the first AC but I found it drastically overrated. Anyways....
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
I just wrote a review on it so check it out there. But for you who don't want to...its a fantastic game. Single player campaign, which I was really excited about cause I really enjoyed the COD4's campaign, was awesome. So many decent twists. Some expected others not so much. Spec Ops has been a blast so far...I have 30 stars and I really want to get all 69 even though I doubt it because I'm not that good. Multiplayer is same old...still great. Read my review for alot more depth.
Fifa 10
Two funny things about this game. I never buy sports games and I never buy multiplat games for my PS3 (unless its notably better). So I bought Fifa 10 on my PS3 because I've always loved soccer but I'm really trying to start watching soccer more so I decided to pick it up. A bunch of my friends love professional European soccer and have a PS3 so naturally I felt inclined to buy it on there. Anyways, great decision. Game is a ton of fun and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys sports (specifically soccer) or competitive multiplayer because onlines so much fun. Should have a review when I play it even more but its a great game.
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (Ballad of Gay Tony) - ***Spoilers
I actually beat this today. Got a bit side tracked (thank you for that COD) but finally got back on track and beat it today. Thought it was pretty fun but I have a small rant on GTA games now. I loved GTA 4, it was different and refreshing and the gameplay wasn't too stale. Now it is - with games like Uncharted 2 - third person shooters should have better controls than the slow paced GTA games. The story was also a bit meh. I loved the character of Gay Tony, he was a ton of fun, but it was too predictable. Same old stuff. Main character survivesand theres no epic twists or parts in the story. Just felt a bit flat. Still fun and I love GTA but GTA 5 needs to get with the times and become more epic and have better controls. Thats my little rant on GTA as of now.
Brutal Legend
Bought this at launch but all I've played is the introduction. I will play it and blog about it soon....I promise.
Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction (2007 one)
Bought this in August but still haven't really played too much of it. I want to get back into it soon. When I do I'll blog about it.
Infamous
Loved the game. Beat in August. Dont know if I talked about it in previous blogs but I really want to write a review about it.
So expect me to blog alot more now!
Quick Blog - Uncharted 2: Amongst Thieves Beaten!
Got this game three days ago because a friend works at Rogers. Beat it in about 10 hours after two playthroughs.
All I gotta say this is one of the best games I've played that is great overall. The story is entertaining, the music is brilliant, the graphics are probably the best I've ever seen. the technical aspects are near perfect (no framerate dips), the game has replay value - the multiplayer is SO FUN, and the voice acting is top notch.
Best game of the year...hands down and one of the best games ever made. I'll be playing the multiplayer for sure until COD: MW2 comes out and probably awhile after that if it keeps up the NO LAG and EASY TO FIND PEOPLE which is odd for PS3.
First Post in a long time....what i've been up to games wise...
I havent been playing too many games in the past week and a half but I havent posted in two months so I'll discuss what games I've been playing and my new purchases.
Valkyria Chronicles
- So last time I blogged about this game I wasn't too pleased...I thought it would have been a lot better but thats not the case anymore. For my first actually strategy game besides the GBA Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, it was a unique experience. The game reminded my alot of Skies of Arcadia because of how theres 4 badguys and you pick them off one by one until you get to the final big bad. The story was interesting and the graphics were so beautiful. Expect a review soon hopefully.
Battlefield: Bad Company
- So I beat the game twice and played the hell out of the multiplayer. This game was blew my expectations out of the water and I look forward to the sequel thats hopefully coming out before years end. Again EA manages to surprise me to again and its funny I never bought a single game from them last generation but now I have 5 which are all amazing (Burnout Revenge, Burnout Paradise, DeadSpace, Mirror's Edge, Battlefield: Bad Company). Expect a review on this soon.
Chrono Trigger
- I'm almost done Chrono Trigger, I'm just doing some final sidequests before the last battle. Game was great and obviously a classic even though I think its a bit overrated. Expect the review when I'm finished.
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
- I just realized I didnt write that I had this finished in my last blog so I'll say it here. Uncharted was an amazing experience. The zombie type enemie twist I didnt really like but the game was amazing and the sequel is one of my most anticipated games. Amazing game. Review soon.
New Purchases that I haven't reallystarted yet:
- Tomb Raider: Underworld
- Infamous
- Final Fantasty Tactics Advance 2
Also I'll be posting my most anticipated games for the year soon even though I'm more excited for the amazingness that will be the first quarter of 2010. (FF XIII, Alan Wake, God of War III, Mass Effect 2, Bioshock 2, and much more)
Gaming In the Past Month
So I haven't posted in a long time so I decided to post an hour before E3 kicks off with Microsoft's conference.
Prince of Persia
- I decided to go back and beat the game again and finish up the achievements while playing the Epilogue. Game is still awesome and the ending is amazing but the epilogue doesn't really establish anything and I found it pretty disappointing to add something when they made a near perfect ending. Anyways I killed the game and got all 1250 achievement points. PoP is still a must play for everyone.
Chrono Trigger
- So I've been playing Chrono Trigger for awhile now. Im not rushing it and I'm taking my time. I'm on the part where you enter Magus's castle in the year 600 so its going good. The game is fantastic and I can't wait to beat it but that probably won't be for awhile.
Grand Theft Auto IV / Lost and the Damned
- I also went back to play GTA IV thanks to me getting Lost and Damned. I realized I didnt give this game the credit it deserved, its fantastic and probably one of the best games I've ever played. Anyways, I went back and beat Lost and Damned which I found was just okay, the story was forgettable compared to the fantastic story of Niko in GTA IV. I also completed the game 100% (GTA IV) so I got a crap load of achievement points. The only one I have left is the 3 strikes and all the online points which are retarded
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
- Yesterday I finally put Uncharted back in my machine and got past the stupid part I was stuck at in one try. Game is a blast. Sometimes it can be a bit frustrating with the controls (I wish it was on the 360). Storys pretty good (I cant complain) and I look forward to see how it ends. Im on Chapter 12 of 22 but I hopefully will be finish within the next 3 days or so.
Valkyria Chronicles
- I Got Valkyria Chronicles the other week because I wanted to buy it before it disappeared off the face of the planet. It's pretty fun. Im only on chapter 5 but it seems the game takes a bit to pick up. I still think Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia are far better but I'll see how it turns out.
Game of the Year 2008 Awards
Best Trailer for a Game Released in 2009
- Grand Theft Auto IV - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nr7dDyUUgl
This trailer was amazing. After not really knowing what to expect after the first trailer, this one confirmed it and had the awesome music to back it up. It introduced to the story and the characters of one of the best games of 08.
Best New Character
- Niko Bellic (Grand Theft Auto IV)
I don't think there was a new character that was more detailed than Niko Bellic. His story was told amazingly and his backstory came to the center of GTA IV in the later half of the game. Niko is a character to remember.
Best Multiplayer
- Rock Band 2
This game took away dozens of my hours with my friends. We even attempted the endlist setlist and got to the last 3 songs where there was unfortunately a minor problem that caused us to not finish it. The games just a blast and way better than Guitar Hero. The song list is probably the best set of songs ever in a music game.
Biggest Disappointment
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Words can't even describe my disappointment for Brawl. Its not that its a terrible game its more that the developers had 7 years to make it awesome but it ended up being the same as Melee. The only few things they needed to improve were not even touched upon. Sad really.
Biggest Surprise
- Prince of Persia
I was never really a fan of the series. I played the first one and enjoyed it but I thought it was way overrated because it was getting so much attention while Beyond Good and Evil (released at same time and same developer) didnt really get any. However, I decided to pick up this one and I was blown away. The gameplay was fun and the graphics were out of this world.
Best Orchestrated Music
- Lost Odyssey
This game reminded me of old school RPGs. The games music was one of its many highlights and the tunes were just solid. Listen to them on youtube, I believe the entire soundtrack is there.
Best Licensed Music
- Burnout Paradise
I played this game nonstop for about a month and the tunes were just out of this world. Every track on the game was stuck in my head for months. GTA IV had great music but Paradise's tracks were just far greater in numbers.
Best New IP
- Dead Space
This one was easy. Lost Odyssey was a great game but Dead Space feels like the start of an amazing franchise that'll continue for years. Everything was there to make this not only the best IP but one of the best games of the year.
Best Graphics
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots andPrince of Persia
Both of these games graphics are phenominal. Playing on a 1080p TV, you just are astonished at how good graphics have gotten in the last 10 years.
Best Story
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
I've always felt that the MGS series was a better movie than a game. The story is mind blowing even though I find the gameplay subpar. No other gaming series canentertain you as much as this series. MGS4 finishes Solid Snakes story with a bang.
Best Part in a Game
- Dead Space - Final Chapter
The atmosphere in the final chapter of Dead Space is unreal. I'm not going to say too much because its a spoiler but if you've played this game you'll know how just amazing this chapter is.
Game I most wanted to Play but Didnt:
- Last Remnant
I own the game I just haven't played it.....yet. Hopefully its as good as my expectations.
Best Game I played in 08 that was released in 06/07
- Blue Dragon
I had so much fun with this RPG even though many didnt like it. The Orange Box was also awesome but BD gets my pick as best game I played last year that wasnt released last year.
GAME OF THE YEAR:
BURNOUT PARADISE
I played the demo of Burnout Paradise and I hated it. The only reason I decided to buy it back in January was because I had money in my pocket and had no gaming to do. I put the game in and it was an entirely different experience. Burnout Paradise was game that gave me the best experience. I had fun with other games but Burnout Paradise was the only game all year I kept going back to and playing. Racing around the streets of Paradise City was just a blast. The support from Criterion is also shocking.
Runner Up: Grand Theft Auto IV -

So Here are finally my GOTY Awards for 08. These are just nominations. The actual winners will come within the next couple days. Enjoy!
Keep in mind there will be genre awards for action, music, platform, racing, role playing, shooting, and sports games.

Mirror's Edge - Complete, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts Reviewed, New Purchase
So I've been gaming alot the last couple days. I started and beat Mirror's Edge in two days. Game is short but very fun. I'll say more about the game below.I finished getting all the achievements in Banjo but I still need to get the other ones that come out this week with the DLC. I bought a new game that I've been wanting for ages but didnt want to pay alot for. I've also played a bit of Resistance and Blue Dragon and hopefully I'll have Resistance beat soon.
Also, expect my GOTY 2008 nominations very soon. After beating Mirror's Edge I've played ever game I've really wanted to minus Last Remnant and Too Human(and COD:WoW, L4D but I dont really care about these two).
Mirror's Edge
So I started the game yesterday and beat it today but thats no surprise because we all knew it was going to be a short game. Overall, the game was fun. I think I might have enjoyed it a bit less, because me being the achievement completionist that I am, but it was still a very fun game. The game was at its finest when I was just jumping and ducking and diving from rooftop to rooftop while going so fast. I would have enjoyed 6 hours of that. I was bored with all the fighting and the enemies but those are things you need to have. So I'll be playing the game once more on hard and doing the Time Trials so I wont have a review till then but the game is easily an 8.5 out of 10.
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
I've talked about this game my last couple blogs. All I need to say besides check out my review is this: The game was so fun and I can't believe I wanted 3 months to actually get into the game. My big issue is this and those who played it hopefully will understand it - the game was best in Showdown Town. If the levels were more based on collecting and finding instead of the same challenges then the game would have been so much better. Vechicles weren't a bad idea at all but I wish they encorporated more platforming.
New Purchase
Today for $9.99 I finally bought Too Human. I'll be playing it when I have time. I know I probably won't like the gameplay too much, played the demo and didnt really enjoy it. However, I love Silicon Knights and I love their stories in their games so I'm excited for that.
Banjo Kazooie - 100% Complete and Mirror's Edge
So I've been killing Banjo again this week and making slow but good progress on Blue Dragon Plus. In Banjo I got all 131 jiggies which took me around 24 hours. All I have left to do is the online achievements and that shouldnt take too long. new DLC for Banjo tho coming soon.
I also finally bought Mirrors Edge. After I play the game I'll be ready to declare my GOTY 2008 even though I didnt play Too Human, Left 4 Dead, Last Remnant, or Call of Duty but I dont think any of them would have surprised me too much.
Thoughts + Banjo and RE5
So I've been gaming a lot lately surprisingly. I've been playing a bit of Blue Dragon Plus, Banjo, and Resident Evil. All the games are so fun and I'm actually having a blast. My PS3 is just sitting there tho and theres a huge stack of games I need to complete. Here's a list of games that'll last me until the summer because there isnt a single game I want for the next couple months. It is now time to play catch up:
Games to Beat
12
7
NHL 09
Condemned 2: Bloodshot
Fable 2
Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
The Last Remnant
Battlefield: Bad Company
Little Big Planet
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Resistance: Fall of Man
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Killzone 2
Blue Dragon Plus
Dead Space - On Hardcore
Saints Row 2 - Achievements
Gears of War 2 - Insane and Dog Tags
Prince of Persia - Achievements and Epilogue
Dark Sector - Brutal Difficulty and Collect
Grand Theft Auto IV - Lost and the Damned
Resident Evil 5 - Achievements
Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
I have been killing this game lately. In about a week and a half I've gone from 5 jiggies and only 80 achievement points to over 60 jiggies and over 500 achievement points. Games pretty fun but I cant shake the feeling that if the game levels were more like the Showdown Town level then the game would have been amazing. I love going around Showdown Town and finding secret jiggies, or crates of vechicle parts or notes. Its just plain fun. However, the missions in the levels (which is the only thing you can practically do there) are just way too repetitive. The game is probably an 8.5 and I look forward to playing the game way more in the upcoming week.
Resident Evil 5
RE5 basically met my expectations. It was a solid game that had controls that took time to get use to. Graphics were amazing and there were no technicaly issues. I actually wished the loading times were a bit longer so I could read the interesting tidbits of RE information. The gameplay like I said is perfectly fine after the first hour. It just takes some time to get use to. The coop makes the game way more fun. The only problem is that some people may see is that the game isn't scary at all. There was no point in the gamewhere I jumped up and was scared to death like in Dead Space. If I had to compare it to Dead Space I'd probably say Dead Space was the better game. It's an actual horror game where ammo is so important, the gameplay is solid and the story is very interesting. Resident Evil 5 is an amazing game but just not as good as Dead Space. Overall it'll probably get a 9 in my opinion.
Resident Evil 5 Impressions / Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
Resident Evil 5
So I bought Resident Evil5 on Friday and have put a couple hours into the game already. Right now I'm not on Act 3, Chapter 2 and its pretty fun. I've noticed that I've agree alot with reviews when it comes to this game. First off, the game is a work of art. The graphics are amazing, the atmosophere is incredible, and the technical aspects are almost flawless. The presentation is the games highest point. The gameplay is also pretty fun but you can tell that Gears of War gameplay would have made the game so much more entertaining. I'm curious to see how the game plays out but right now the game is probably between an 8.5 and a 9 so Gamespot, IGN, and Gametrailers have all hit the nail on the head. I have no big pet peeves yet in the game and hopefully it says that way. I'll give you more impressions and most likely a review as I finish the game.
Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
In the last week I've put alot of hours into Banjo that did not get the attention it deserved when I picked it up on launch day way back in November. The game is pretty fun but you can tell its going to get very repetitive. Right now I only have 35 of the 131 Jiggies and I can feel the repitition. The highlights of the game is when your in Showdown Town just exploring either on foot or in your car. Its at these times where you love the platforming elements and you wish that it was just more prevelant in the worlds. Showdown Town mixes platforming and racing perfectly but the levels just have way too many car missions that feel the same and likeI said....I've barely scratched the surface. So the game is beautiful and the gameplay is fun even though I can't make a good car for the life of me. I can feel the disappointment tho from people who didn't like the game because Rare could have made an amazing full-on platforming game. But as for now the game is still very fun although reptitive and its probably an 8.5 in my eyes.
Infinite is Complete - Review is up! Restarting Banjo. My GOTY 2008 Awards Soon!
Today I can add another game to my completed list. I finished Infinite Undiscovery. Check my review for my thoughts.
I started Banjo again today. I hadnt played since November 22nd. I wanted to take a break from RPGs since I just played Fallout 3 and Infinite so I didnt want to play Fable II or Last Remnant yet. Since I'm playing FPS's on the PS3 (Resistance and Killzone 2) I didnt want to play Battlefield or Condemned. So that left me with Banjo. After playing for an hour and a half today I realized how amazing the game is. Already I've doubled my Jiggies (hey I was only at 5). So the next week I'll probably playing this and hopefully finishing it before Resident Evil 5.
So my Game of the Year Awards are probably coming soon. I've played practically almost everything. I've got the gist of Little Big Planet and Metal Gear Solid IV, and I've played games like Fable enough to know it won't be in my awards. All I need to play is Mirrors Edge and possibly a bit more of Last Remnant and of course finishing up Banjo before I declare my top games. So be excited for that. It was a huge gaming year for me last year.
Feb 3rd to March 7th - So much gaming... (Fallout. Infinite, BD, Killzone)
So I haven't posted here in over a month. I've played and purchased a lot of games in that month.
Fallout 3
Unfortunately my time is done with Fallout 3. A few days after my blog, I got the rest of the achievements I wanted and gave it back to my friend. The game was surprisingly pretty good like I said in my review.
Infinite Undiscovery
So since I had both this and The Last Remnant on my shelf I decided I needed to play one of these RPGs. I decided to go with this. Initially I thought the game was terrible but its just the opening two hours that makes the game to appear incredibly retarded. Once you get past the first two hours which has some terrible gameplay aspects then the rest of the game is great.
The story was pretty good for a JRPG. Voice acting was terrible though and it was an offender of one of by big pet peeves - voices not going with the lip synching. It was terrible in that aspect. But Infinite makes it up in its gameplay. Its addictive, fun, and time consuming. Going to enemies and just ripping out a sick move has never been as fun.
So even though the game has its problems, its not as bad as everyone made it out to be. If you like RPGs, chances are you'll like this one but you need to get past the first two hours. Expect a review when I finish the last couple achievements I'm going for.
Probably a 7.5 /10.
Blue Dragon Plus
I loved the original but this one obviously plays very different. I've only put two hours in but basically the concept of the game is exactly like Final Fantasty Tactics games. You watch a bunch of cutscenes that move the story further and then you are launched into a big arena and defeat the enemies. And the process continues. However, the gameplay is whats different. Instead of every character gets a turn and then you play it out, Blue Dragon is live. You move your characters all at once and fight. You give them actions to do and they do them instantly. Its different but so far pretty awesome. More on this when I play it more.
Killzone 2
Killzone 2 suffers because of the Playstation controller. It looks superb, feels superb, but the control just suck. The Playstation controller is just uncomfortable when you play FPS. So far I've only beat the first mission but the game seems pretty fun. More on this when I play it more.
So the game I mostly played in the last month is Infinite Undiscovery. I still have a load of games I need to play (Banjo, Fable, Condemned,Bad Company), games I need to finish (Infinite, Killzone, Resistance, Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid, Last Remnant, Blue Dragon Plus) and games I want to get (Halo Wars, Star Ocean, Mirrors Edge, and Resident Evil 5). The good thing though is that between Resident Evil 5 and September, the only game I really want to play is inFAMOUS so it'll be a long summer.
Fallout 3 Review
So I've been playing Fallout 3 like crazy lately. That's the only game I've been playing since my last blog. I've put about 25 hours in and I've completed the story and have done most of the sidequests.
Here's my review.
Fallout 3 has gotten mixed reactions from me in the 25 hours or so that I've played thus far. There are times where I'm really liking the game and everything just flows so well while there are times I just hate the game with a passion because of the difficulty or the amount of glitches or load times. Anyways, let's break the game down.
Going into Fallout 3, I felt that the story had an amazing premise. It was a post apocalyptic world and you were born in some kind of Vault and it was just all intriguing. I was never a Fallout fan before so I knew nothing about the world or the series but since you didn't need to play the other ones I definitely had to try this game. Anyways, the story starts off solid and it picks up pretty fast. Unfortunately, I think the climax of the story is you leaving the vault which happens within the first hour of the game. After that your just searching for your father and when you eventually find him your about half way done the game. The story's conclusion happens way too fast and its just a short game. Overall, Fallout 3 had a great premise for a story but the story just did not live up to the premise but fortunately there are so many more things to do in the world of Fallout 3.
There a ton of side quests in the game. Right now I have done all of them except 3 so I've basically beaten the majority of them. There are some pretty interesting side quests and some of them can be pretty lengthy which is a good thing because the story is so short. From atomic bombs to vampires to nuca cola to zombies, these side quests can be hilariously entertaining and some have pretty awesome endings. You decide whether or not you want to blow up an entire city while watching from a tower miles away.
The graphics in the game are done really well. It is definitely one of the better looking games thus far on the 360. Even though the graphics are well done, it is the technical aspects that make the game less fun. There are some long and boring load times which really take away from it since your always going from city to city or room to room and you always get about a 20 second or so load time. Theres also some terrible glitches in some quests that make you want to ripoff your hair (especially if your an achievement whore like myself). These aren't huge problems but they can really detract from the game.
The gameplay is where I was really disappointed when I began the game. It was confusing and just felt way too hard for me. Thank God though that Bethesda is always smart enough to include a slider. On very easy, this game was a blast. It was fun and I wasn't dying every 5 minutes. As a terrible Western RPGer, this game was very tough for me on the normal setting but on the easier settings it allowed me just to have fun.
The gameplay also began to get extremely fun when I was very easy. I started understand which stats were important and where I should put my points for the next level in. Things just started to flow. Also, it just never gets old blowing off a Raiders head.
The Fallout world is massive. Probably too massive for my likings but it adds a ton of gameplay for the hardcore fans which is a fantastic thing. There are loads of things to collect, loads of quests to complete, and loads of places to explore and that is what makes Fallout 3 such an awesome game. 25 hours in and I still have a bunch of things to do so I can get all the achievement points. If your a fan of WRPG's or want to be immersed, then this game is for you.
What I've been up to Gaming Wise + 2 New Games
Resistance: Fall of Man
- I've played a couple more chapters. The story thus far is very generic and not really interesting. I hope it picks up soon but I'm at the part where you are underground in a facility where you get split up from the British chick. The game is still pretty fun, after getting use to the controls its been a blast going through the chapters. Hopefully it keeps up and hopefully the story actually finishes good because if it does I may have to buy Resistance 2.
Dark Sector
- So I beat Dark Sector. The game started to suck in chapter 5 for about two chapters but then picks up again when the stupid and unfun hard enemies stop appearing and it goes back to the easy funner enemies. Story gets a big meh overall but the gameplay was there and it was pretty fun. The glaive is an awesome weapon and for a $6.00 game is was amazing. If there is a sequel they just need to tool the gameplay but make an awesome story that will intrigue people.
Fable II
- So I started Fable 2 again. I got the first Hero. I'm going to slowly be playing this game along with Fallout 3. The game isn't as bad as I recall but its still a WRPG and those are hard and boring for me usually.
Fallout 3
- I also started playing this again. I did two more missions and now I'm in Tranquility Lane. The game is OK. I'm not the biggest WRPG fan like I just said so I get frusterated really easy by them. However, the story premise was very interesting at the beginning but now every mission ends with the classic, "Your Princess is in another castle?" (Aka your DAD isnt here). It's getting to a point where its just lame. But I'll play it out and will beat the game eventually.
In other news I bought The Last Remnant and Battlefield: Bad Company. I haven't played them yet and most likely I'm going to hold off until I beat a couple more games. I have too many on the go.
Yup I'm still backlogged. Here is what I've been doing for the past two weeks...
So I haven't been blogging in awhile. A big reason is because Ive been so busy with work, school, and gaming that I haven't really had a chance to blog.
Anyways these are the games I've been playing.
Folklore
- I finally beat Folklore today after a good couple weeks playing it and taking my time. It was a solid action RPG and you can check my full thoughts in the review I wrote today. Overall, Folklore is a solid game that if you like entertaining stories full of twists (yet some predictable ones) and decent gameplay then you might want to check this one out.
Dark Sector
- So I bought this game for $6.99 on Boxing Day. So far the game has been pretty good even though I just started Chapter 6 and there are some pretty annoying baddies that have been appearing. The first 5 chapters were so fun because the enemies were easy and the glaive was fun to use but now the enemies are tougher and it just takes the funfactor of running around and kicking ass away. Hopefully, these baddies don't appear for the rest of the game. Anyways, game is pretty solid. Takes the Gears of War gameplay and I love Gears so its been pretty fun. Overall the game right now is probably an 8/10 but we'll see how the game concludes and hopefully it doesn't start to get reptitive.
Resistance: Fall of Man
- So about two hours ago I put Resistance back in and boy was I wrong. I got use to the controls and I just started playing and couldnt stop. I played 5 chapters and got to the Cathedral so I think I'm going to be playing alot more of Resistance in the next couple of games. Hopefully the story is good, I like it so far.
Anyways, those are the 3 games I've been playing. I started Fallout 3 and Infinite Undiscovery but I haven't put enough time to judge them. So far I think Fallout 3 has a great premise but the gameplay is so boring...it's a game I rather watch someone beat. So far Infinite Undiscovery is a big old meh but I haven't played too much and I heard the start is terrible but it really picks up so we'll see. Anyways heres a list of games I have to beat before the 4 games in Feb/March that I want to pick out get relased (Killzone 2, Halo Wars, Star Ocean 4, and Resident Evil 5). Theres also these 4 games that I missed in November that I have to play (Left 4 Dead, Tomb Raider: Underworld, Last Remnant, and Mirrors Edge). But these are the list of incomplete games:
Condemned 2: Bloodshot - Havent Started
Dark Sector - Completed 6 out of 10 Chapters
Fable 2 - Played a bit when I bought it but haven't played since.
Fallout 3 - just got to the place where I met a black dude who met my father.
Infinite Undiscovery - in the forest where you meet up with everyone
Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts - got about 10 jiggies.
Little Big Planet - played a couple levels but not alot
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - just met meryl
Resistance: Fall of Man -Completed 7 out of 30 Chapters
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - Stuck on CHapter 5. Glitch ![]()
4 Games I still want to get more achievements in:
Dead Space - On Hardcore
Saints Row 2 - Achievements
Gears of War 2 - Insane and Dog Tags
Prince of Persia - Achievements
Gaming Overload Part 2 (MGS, LBP, PoP, Folklore, Uncharted)
So Christmas was awesome. I got Folklore, Uncharted, and Metal Gear Limited Edition. So I've been playing alot of games but unfortunately I havent spent alot of time in any game.
Prince of Persia
This is probably the game I've put the most time into over the past week. So far its awesome. The game is a bit repetitive but its still very fun. The graphics and artstyle are fantastic. The orchestrated music is also good. The gameplay is pretty fun. I was never a big PoP fan but this game is overrall very entertaining. I'm almost done the game so expect a review on this shortly. I hope the story ends with more of a bang because thus far it hasn't been THAT good but the gameplay is very fun.
Little Big Planet
So I decided to play this more the other day and instead of playing the actual story I decided to play the community levels. All I can say is wow. These levels are amazing, some people have such an awesome imagination. I can't wait to go back to play more of them. I played a bunch of themed levels, my favourite being a recreation of the first part of the original Metal Gear Solid. It plays out exactly how the game goes and its just wonderful. Its not complete but the guy who made it is slowly continuing his work. But yeah since I hadnt played LBP in awhile this was surprisingly entertaining and gave me the push to go back and play it.
Uncharted
Put this is yesterday and it looks and plays really good. I beat the first two stages and I love the Tomb Raider / Prince of Persia feel to it. Nathan Drake seems like an awesome character and I can't wait to see how to the story plays out. Also, the game is beautiful in 1080p.
Metal Gear Solid 4
So I've already 'see' the game on youtube so its not a big surprise. I never enjoyed the gameplay but I want to watch the story on my big tv instead of a small youtube video. So far I just met Meryl and her gang but I'm going to slowly beat this overtime.
Folklore
So far the game is pretty fun. All I did was the Prologue section for the two characters but the premise seems good. It looks like it may be a repetitive game but we'll see how it goes. Like MGS I want to beat this overtime.
You'll get my full opinions and reviews on all the games when I feel like I put the right amount of time in. These are just some overall thoughts.
Gaming Overload / Resistance
So I've been playing 3 games lately but I've also been buying more games which is a huge mistake. I got 3 games because Toys R Us had a buy 2 get 1 free. I picked up Resistance 2 (which I may be returning...read Resistance section why), Uncharted (hopefully its awesome), and Infinite Undiscovery. I also bought Condemned 2 for 360 for 20 bucks and Resistance for PS3. With all these new games I'm also playing Gears of War 2, Dead Space (on my 2nd playthrough), and Saints Row 2. Theres also Banjo, Little Big Planet, and Fable II that I still need to put alot of time into. But anyways...
Gears multiplayer is still very addictive but its just not as fun as the original. I played alot of horde last night and things got insane. I'm on the 38th wave and wow its getting hard...especially with only 3 people. I'm going to try and play the campaign again and get all the COG Tags so I can finish up the single player campaign achievements. Besides that the only other achievements are Seriously and the complete 1999 games achievement. Gears 2 will keep sucking away my time.
I've put alot of time into Saints Row 2 lately. I beat the campaign on coop and did all the activities. I still have a bunch of stuff to do but I'm slowly trying to finish off all the achievements. Multiplayer achievements are going to be hell because I suck at the game online for some reason.
Also, I started Dead Space again yesterday. I put 6 hours in and I'm already done 10 of the 12 chapters. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll have the game beaten a 2nd time. Im going for the Single Gun Plasma Cutter achievement. The gun is upgraded so its not too hard but still very scary and because of it challenging. I'll probably have to replay the first couple chapters for a 3rd time to get the Equipment and Weapon upgrade achievement and then maybe play the game on the hardest difficulty which is going to be absolutly hell.
Yeah so basically I am so screwed with gaming. This is the first time I've been swamped because usually I like to put alot of time into all my purchases but I think I've bought too many.
Resistance
- So I haven't played my PS3 too much since I bought it. I played a bit of Little Big Planet but I still havent played that too much. Anyways today I put Resistance in and played the first two levels. First off, I'm pretty disappointed. I thought the graphics would be better. Yeah I know its a launch game but still I'm a bit disappointed when you compare it to Gears of War which came out at about the same time.
The biggest disappointment with the game is something that can't be fixed. I don't like the PS3 controller. It's uncomfortable in the hand and it just feels weird. I had the same problem with Little Big Planet. The controller is holding me back from enjoyment. I also bought Resistance 2 (but havent opened it) but I might return it because if I cant enjoy the controls Im not going to waste 60 bucks.
My Game of the Year Discussion
Alright I dont have a Game of the Year yet because I havent played all the titles of this year that I've want to. I also haven't put enough time to games I own like Little Big Planet and Banjo to judge. But anyways heres the contenders so far for my Game of the Year.
- Rock Band 2
- Devil May Cry 4
- Burnout Paradise
- Lost Odyssey
- Tales of Vesperia
- Dead Space
- Gears of War 2
- Grand Theft Auto IV
- Saints Row 2
Games that have a chance to be a contender if I get to play them in time / if I get enough time to play them more.
- Little Big Planet
- Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
- Prince of Persia
- Tomb Raider: Underworld
- The Last Remnant
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
- Valkyria Chronicles
- Resistance 2
I'll also be having different awards such within genres, biggest disappointment and biggest surprise and stuff like that. Also biggest news. All that should be coming near Christmas time when I have played and beaten all the awesome games of 08.
PS I dont get why people are declaring their game of the year so early.
Avatar / 360 Games Progress / PS3 + Wishlist
So I haven't posted in awhile so here's what I think of the 360 update.
It looks nice. I still don't know how to change the theme but I'm sure I'll find out eventually. Avatars are pretty sweet. I like how themes and gamer pics are still incorporated. The only thing I don't like about is that theres still too many options in the menu. I thought the point of it was to make it even easier to access everything but it seems to be just as confusing.
Avatars are sweet so heres my guy rocking the glasses.

Gears of War 2
- I know most of you are jumping in Gears of War 2 and loving it but as an experienced player of the first game I still find it disappointing. I beat the campaign tho and I thought it was pretty fun and the story was obviously better than the first game. Coop is still fun but damn the game is as challenging as ever. Not looking forward to beating the game on Insane.
- Multiplayer still is hit or miss.
- Lag is happening more often in games.
- When your in a 5 person party you basically find a game instantly but takes alot longer with 1-4 people.
- I hate the chainsaw still. If you shoot someone coming at you with a chainsaw it should lower the gun and it should take longer to charge the chainsaw up.
- Shotgun is pretty useless.
- Flamethrower is way overpowered and gay as hell.
- Levels are still pretty boring and too small for 5 v 5.
- Hail and River are the two standout maps for me.
- Canals is as awesome as ever.
- I hate the grenades and I hate how you can put them against the wall. They are cheap and so gimmicky. Epic needs to remove them and just put the regular nades back.
- Also, I also hate them swapping the weapons every round. Its so annoying.
Gears of War is still way better than the 2nd one online in my opinion.
Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts / Banjo Kazooie
- Got the game last week but I still havent really put in too much time. I've been playing the arcade version more...which I've gotten to the Haunted Mansion level. But yeah Nuts and Bolts is pretty fun. I find it a tad confusing and would have much prefered a standard platformer but the game isn't bad just takes a lot of time to get use to which I haven't been able to do beacuse of school, work, gears, and socializing.
PS3 + LBP + Wishlist
- Havent spent too much time with my PS3 or LBP. I rather play Gears or Banjo. PS3 looks beautiful. I cant wait to start watching Blu Ray DVDs on it. I Got Tropic Thunder which is a hilarious movie. Watched a couple minutes and it looked awesome even though I only watched it on my 720P TV not my brothers 1080p tv.
- I don't know what it is but I just haven't gotten attached to Little Big Planet. Just like Banjo I rather play a traditional platformer instead of something unique and innovative such as LBP or Nuts and Bolts. I'll give both games the time of day eventually and I can't wait to start customizing.
- I want to get
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Special Edition
- Valkyria Chronicles
- Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
- Folklore
- Resistance
Got PS3 and Little Big Planet
I finally did what I've wanted to do for a long time - get a PS3. Got it for both Blu Ray and PS3 and it only cost me 360 after taxes because I got 20% off of it at Walmart because I work there.
I'll get my impressions later but I'm very excited. I also picked up Tropic Thunder.
