Top 5 Changes

Welcome back everyone! I almost went crazy yesterday not being able to look at the Heroes forum, esp after another incredible episode featuring my two favs, HRG and Sylar. But I digress, back to the business at hand.

Top 5 Changes that need to be made:

1. I know you will hear this time and time again, but the white background and small greyish font is making me go blind. Really, it is horrible to try and read and I get a headache looking at it too long.

2. Put the About Me section back to the side and not right on top with a huge distorted icon. Most of the people who's blogs I look at, the new blogs are the important thing to see, not their profile which I have probably already read several times. Plus, this may just be a bug, but that huge icon is horrific and the scale has changed from a small square image to a large rectangular one and just looks awful. Removing this section and moving to the side would also free up room for us to see the entire new blog on the page without having to click on Read More.

3. Please make it so it shows 10 tracked blogs rather than 4. I track quite a few people and find myself missing blogs I really want to see because of this.

4. Update the news on the my feed. Seriously, one of the items on my feed is about Alec Baldwin yelling at his daughter, a story from more than a year ago and another is about the "new" exciting season 3 of Doctor Who... and umm... let's put it this way, season 4 has already finished...

5. Make it so you can see the number of comments and how many are new in tracked blogs again. I love this feature. There are so many fascinating conversations that end up in blog comments and I feel that this was an extremely useful and fun feature that was eliminated for no reason.

These are just the top five items that I would like to see changed and do not include the numerous bugs that I trust will be worked out in time. With this said, as someone who works as a web designer who recently completed a redesign, I understand the necessity for change. But with change, it is important to make sure that it is change for the better, not just for the sake of change. And there are some things that I do like about the redesign. I love the new color coded key on the forums is great for example. But the key to having a great site is to make it fun and function for you users, something that this redesign has not done. Yes, the shows are important, but it is the community that makes TV.com what it is. And without the community, it cannot survive. Please show us that we are important, and take our constructive criticism into consideration.

I will leave this up for the rest of the week and be back to blogging on a regular basis next week.

Take care all my friends!!

I can't wait for the new season of DW... though I thought it was 5 and in 2010... silly, silly me, how could I get that confused? I really don't understand why they got rid of great things like 10 blogs on the right and how many new comments for you on them, but kept something that hasn't worked in more than a year... Great choices all around... maybe we will all change into bats real soon with all of us getting blind like that.

1,2,3 Is more than important and I have seen it in many top 5 lists, but I would also sign 4 and 5.... also very true!

I can only back up these points. You are right with the "About me" - I prefer to see the blog. Also more friend's blogs with comments.

By the way, I watched Casanova! It was such a great recommendation and by now, I am completely in love with David Tennant. He was insanely funny and tragic. Thanks for letting me know about that series!

SMG: Thanks! This week I almost had a squee fit with my two favs paired up together. They make such an amazing and complex team. Season 3 is kicking Season 2's butt!!

Agreed with all of your proposed changes, especially w/r/t the stupid, distorted profile pictures and profiles.

AYN! OMG I haven't talked to you in forever! I realize your blog is from like October but I figured you'd still see this comment. I agree with you on everything you said about the redesign. It's horrible! Anyways how was your Christmas/ New YEars? I can't wait to play the new Survivor game with you!
