I am absolutely shocked. Not because Booth faked his death. Not because Zack was the apprentice. Not even because of Brennan's full-frontal perve-fest starring a naked Booth in the bath. I am shocked at the negativity, insults, abuse and downright rudeness of those people out there who call themselves Bones fans.
To those of you this relates to: everybody is entitled to their own opinion, and as individuals we react to situations differently... but you ARE NOT a true Bones fan if you are willing to ditch the show after one episode that may not have suited your liking. These writers have given us 3 seasons of wonderful episodes, great cases, character developments and romance. They have written moments that make you scream, cry, laugh; moments that make you feel. Personally, for people to come out and abuse those responsible for a show and characters you have claimed as you own... well that says more about you than it does about 'crappy writing'.
Do you follow a sports team? If they play badly one week do you decide that you will no longer support them? Do you criticise their game structure and talent as though you yourself could have done better? Or do you have a favourite singer or band whose albums you own and love? If there is only one song featured that you hate, are you no longer a fan and do you throw their albums away?
Now ask yourself, were you one of the people who loved Verdict, raving about how it was the best episode ever and how Bones writers are fantastic and are some of the most incredible in their feild? How then, two weeks later, could you tear apart their work and consider turning your back?
Yes, this is a critic based industry. They put their work out there to be scrutinised, and some people love it, and some people hate it. And I'm sure they understand this better than we could ever comprehend. And yes, Eric was apparently 'told to leave'... but that is their industry.
But these writers have given us 3 marvellous seasons of what is, in my opinion, still the best show on television. These writers deserve our faith, our commitment, and our loyalty. You have to take the bad with the good.
I believe in Hart and his team. I'll give them my faith because they have never let me down in 58 episodes, and I have enough patience and trust to see where they take things following Zack's demise.
Bones, I'm still here, cheering for more.
