If you were to have a must-have collection by genre, and you could only have one album per genre, then I would invent a genre to make sure Aja were among the titles. Not quite rock; not quite jazz, this album captures the perfect blend of jazz-rock fusion. A studio masterpiece, there isn't a wasted note on this record, yet it maintains an air of unprentiousness (not an easy task for Steely Dan). Aja seamlessly flows from one track to the next such that I can't listen to one track without thinking about the entire catalog.

This may possibly be my favorite album of all time, if only due to its ubiquitous uniqueness.
