No! Please Say It's NOT So! The Replacements Undergoes Facelift!
Okay, one of my favorite shows on the Disney Channel when I do watch it is The Replacements. Frankly, I'm just a huge fan of the humor, the plots and well...the animation! Atleast, I was... That is until someone at Disney decided to pull an animations facelift with the show!! Just like AD:JL, The Replacements will premiere season 2 on March 10th with an all new style.
It's soooo hideous! I can understand if they're trying to make Todd and Riley look older but there is just no need for what they've done. Tod looks like he's much older now. Honestly, the animation *which some condemned for not being too good from the get go* is horrible. I'm just praying the quality of the show doesn't go downhill with it. It seems to me that they are attempting to appeal to a larger audience, but personally I don't get the point.
What sucks is...I saw it coming... At the end of season one, the episodes like London Calling and Clueless started having darker paints used on them. SOMETHING I'VE ALWAYS DESPISED ABOUT DISNEY: somehow I think that they equate darker colors for either maturity or better quality. Just look at Kim Possible. The further the show progressed, the darker the colors became. It really really bothers me.
Oh well, I can forgive animation *as I did with AD:JL-which in my opninion actually worked although it could have been tweaked just a lil bit more...* so long as the show itself doesn't fall apart. From what I've heard, the show is going to be actually taking a sitcom route. I think they started trying that with TENS too, but it never fully developed. What I mean is, before, The Replacements was just a fun shtick to watch when you needed a laugh but not a complex plot to follow from one episode to the next. There was no fear of missing whether or not Jake and Rose had a moment. There was no fear of wondering if Ron would ever become a great boyfriend for Kim, etc. It was just funny 15 minutes at a time (or 30 for two episodes) for a good dose of entertainment.
But now, there will be 30 minute segments which further pushes me in my theory. Basically, I think they're going to turn The Replacements into a show that one can follow and take devoted interest in, root for characters or plotlines, etc. Okay, so I'm torn about this if it does turn into that. Why am I torn? Well, I love the show as it was in season 1, so simple. But at the same time, I love writing fanfiction for it, so I would definitely love to see more development. I especially want to know more about how Dick and K met, how they came to want to adopt, if there was a reason why Conrad chose them specifically, etc. So I can't deny that this really gets my attention. Plus, I think it's hilarious that Buzz has become more a part of the group and would love to see some development on his part...the same with Jacobo. In fact, I've always been a fan of the Riley/Jacobo pairing and alright with the Riley/Buzz pairing. I guess Johnny Hitswell just annoys me a little too much. And he's not developed nearly well enough to change that...so, unless they do...
I also hope that nobody changes voice wise. That includes all characters including Sierra and Sheldon! Seriously, I hate it when voices change. The only one that could change to an actual boy would be Jacobo. He is currently voiced by overused but extremely talented Candi Milo. And, if you're a fan of Candi the voice can be irksome and not in a good way. Basically, too many times when I hear Jacobo, I immediately think of Candi's work as Dr. Wakeman on My Life as a Teenage Robot. It's just so very similar and it takes away from the character in my opinion. However, that's the only change! I love all of the other voices, and changes would just ruin it! And I especially hope they don't change Taksumi's voice! I'm okay with them ridding her of the armor, but please don't change her voice. That would just ruin it for me. I'm also a fan of Todd/Taksumi
Alright, I guess that's enough rambling on The Replacements. I'll reserve actual judgement until March 10th...However, until then, my apprehension will remain.
Lose A Few, Gain One
I've only been lurking about lately. And so I decided to retire from a few of my guides. There's Drake Bell, since I lost all interest in him. And then there's Traylor Howard from Monk. I had some regrets about that one, but I just lost interest in her as a person. I still LOVE the show Monk, if that isn't obvious by my icon and all that
And I still love Traylor's character, Natalie Teeger more than anyone (with the exception of Monk hiimself of course...oh who am I kidding! I love all of the characters!) And how about the 2 part season 6 finale! Omgosh! I've watched the preview for part two (which airs this Friday) at least a dozen times! I found it on USA Network's website last night and literally got so hyper over it that I couldn't get to sleep because I was so (and still am) anxious for Friday!!
Okay, enough for Monk for now, although it's all I can think about and talk about right now and I'm so sad that the season's almost over...
Anyways, although I retired from those two guides, I gained Anneliese van der Pol's guide. Speaking of Anneliese, there's rumors buzzing about that she and Orlando recorded a duet for Disney Mania 6. But seeing as Mitchel and Emily also recorded a duet, if Ann and Orly did, than there's probably a big chance that it will get dropped for the other duet. Still, I seriously hope that I'm wrong and both duets make it onto the cd!!
I've gained some new fandoms here recently, including the Loliver fandom and I've fallen head over heels for the music stylings of Michael Buble. Oh and iCarly is now one of my favorite guilty pleasures. But beyond that, I guess I'm still tried and true with what I liked before. Of course, the writer's strike kind of halted everything for a period of time anyways, but I'm glad it's over and everything can get back to normal.
Yes, I'm Still Alive...
I really hate school. It makes coming online impossible. And then, on top of it, I hate my cable connection. They kept unhooking our cable connectionbecause of an error on their end and their system. And then when we did get it "fixed" it the modem kept screwing up because again, on their end they had us down for a DSL connection when we have the standard cable connection for the internet. IT was a complete mess.
But now I'm back, but of course, to find myself reported MIA for good and understandable reason. So I'm hoping that I got the situation cleared up in time. I feel completely horrible for not having time to even get to a library. But school has been hectic this past semester. My persuasive writing professor was completely unorganized and has yet to give me my final grade...
But on the bright side, now I have a laptop, so I can get on whenever I like and don't have to worry about someone needing the computer, etc.
As for Disney...I don't know. I just feel very let down as this year is coming to a close. Theatrically, I'm still waiting for National Treasure 2 this Friday and I guess Enchanted was everything a girl can hope for (although I was extemely disappointed with the ending), but other than that, it's been somewhat of a let down...no wait, I forgot about Meet The Robinsons! It seems like so long ago that I forgot that it was only back in March!
Then there's music wise...I just feel as though the same artist(s) is getting all of the glory and attention and that although there are many other capable contenders, they are being overlooked.
And finally, the Disney Channel...I'm definitely looking forward to Minute Men with Jason Dolley. Also, Luke Benward is the son of Aaron Benward and grandson of Jeff Benward. They used to have a father son music group called AaronJeffreys and they actually performed at my church several several times when I was younger before Aaron went solo for a small stint of time. And of course the grandson of legend, Steve McQueen is in the film as well.
But anyways, back to THIS year. Let's see, first Naturally, Sadie was dissed although in my opinion it was much better than Life With Derek, which I will still not watch (and it's not because I haven't given it a fair amount of chances). Hannah Montana is on everywhere I look. Cory in the House isn't given much spotlight. They've started airing new The Replacements episodes on Mondays. J.P. Manoux has overstayed his welcome with The Emperor's New School-although props for them scoring John Goodman again. Of course they went and ruined the ride by adding Miley Cyrus to the voice over line up! I've now had to suffer the loss of Kim Possible twice in my life time
But I'm okay with that one because season four was definitely my tv highlight of the entire year! And of course, there's the cancellation of TSL. I just feel like what started out as an excellent year for DC just really went downhill fast. But again, that's just my opinion. And I think it's proven by the way the year is ending with the You Year's Eve or whatever it's been donned. To me, it just doesn't add up.
Oh, but I do have a question in regards towards the New Year's Eve commercial. Why is Allison Stoner in it? Does this mean that she has an upcoming project with Disney? If so, that's exciting. I used to get very annoyed with her, but she's matured alot and it would be nice to see an old familiar face on Disney Channel again. Heck, if I had been the Disney execs. I would have paid her a good deal to do a Mike Super Short Show spinoff because honestly, the Really Short Report makes kid actors everywhere look pretty bad. Okay, maybe I'm just being harsh. But it is pretty contrived.
I guess there's always Dadnapped and J.O.N.A.S. to look forward too *sigh* but that's only because of Kevin ![]()
What A Summer/Retirement
Gah! I was without internet for awhile! But now that I'm back, I've decided to retire from being editor of My Life as a Teenage Robot. Why? Because, frankly the show isn't on anymore, minus new episodes in other countries, and thus I am unable to keep up with it. Also, I was bombarded (even before losing internet) with tons of episode submissions that I believe may or may not be correct as I haven't seen hide or hare of ANY of these episodes via the official MLAATR blog, but HAVE seen fanfictions quite similar on fanfiction.net. My guess is that people are submitting fanfctions as actual episodes, and I really don't feel like dealing with it seeing as, even when I reject the submissions, people just keep submitting them. So, I'm done with that.
I'm glad to be back, and I am happy to say I am STILL a huge fan of The Suite Life (although there were WAAAY too many plotlines going on last nigt XD)...and still can't stand Hannah Montana that well
I'll post more of an update later.
Back, Oh, and Speaking Of...
After a month of absence I am back and probably for the summer. I've been busy adjusting back into the summer intern routine, and I think I finally got it down so that I can mix work with, well, not work
Right now I am finally updating my Disney RE-Mastered site. I put it on hold because my host's server went down for quite awhile. But I plan to have it up by this Friday, Revamped in preparation for the DC Games.
Speaking of the DC Games, I am officially routing for the Green Team because of mine truly Lucas
He's the team captain! My second team of choice is gonna be the Yellow, then Red and Blue tied for last. I'm kinda glad that Vanessa and Zac won't be returning. I guess they were supposedly spending some Zanessa time in Hawaii during the taping. And of course Anneliese was probably preparing for her role on Broadway, while Kay was probably busy with some projects of her own.
Speaking of Kay Panabaker, a week from Friday (June 15, 2007) is the theatrical release of Nancy Drew, in which Kay Panabaker and former co-star Amy Bruckner will both be in. I'm actually more excited for the release of this movie than I thought I could be for an Emma Roberts flick. Actually, if you have seen the promos, you might notice that Nancy Drew will probably remind you of Kay's character, Debbie Berwick, on Phil of the Future.
Speaking of teen detective flicks...I am waiting for a movie release of the Encyclopedia Brown series. I haven't heard of any in the works yet to speak, but I think it would make a nice addition to the silver screen. Much better than live action Bratz film! If they wait a few years, Moises Arias would make a good addition to the cast, but who would play Encyclopedia Brown himself...not sure, maybe a yet to be discovered talent. Either way, if they haven't done it or pitched it within the next 2 years, I'm gonna pitch it myself!
Speaking of...okay enough speaking of's!
That does it for me today.
