Seriously need Help! What am I????

So last night my son came up to my husband and told him that our 17 month old daughter swallowed a battery. What? How on earth would she have done that? So after calling around and realizing there was no way for a baby to swallow a AA battery, we decided to wait and see. I was talking to my sister this morning and she told me to take her right away, just to know for sure. Poison control said the same thing. So off to the ER we went at 10 am this morning. Have you ever been to the ER with two young kids. Lots of fun. So they took an x-ray and said there was no battery, but what looked like a button or something. They ordered more x-rays and the doctor called me out of the room. He took me to the computer to ask me if maybe I knew what it was that she swallowed. I expected to know right away, but I had no clue. So here I am all puzzled, knowing that my daughter has something in her body, but no idea what. I won't know until she passed is. The doc said it's already made it's way through her intestines and now it's in the colon. So now we wait and see. Can you tell from the pic what it is?

Wow, I've heard of quizzes on this site, but this one takes the cake! Just think, when your daughter grows up, she'll be able to tell her kids that her X-rays were on the Internet when she was 17 months old. I mean, how many people will be able to say that?

As for what it is, I have no idea. And condolences for having to endure ER with two young children. I only have experiences of having to endure it myself so I can only imagine how much 'fun' it was.

It looks like some sort of cork or toy peg or something... I hope your daughter will be okay.

A dowel cap used to cover a recessed screw on a piece of furniture? If you had posted this on the 12th, I would imagine that this will have passed by now. If the doctor wasn't too concerned, then I'm sure your daughter will be fine.

It's now Friday morning and still nothing. The doc said it should pass today or tomorrow. He told me it was something metal because plastic wouldn't show up so clearly. Of course my sister is the optimist in the bunch, she told me she hopes it doesn't get stuck so she won't have to have surgery. It's hard sleeping through the night when you lay there listening to every sound she makes in case something happens. Lets just hope that whatever it is passes without doing any damage.

If it's metal, then it is probably a blind peg. Check her crib or any nearby furniture and see if there are any open dado holes or machine drilled holes with nothing in them.

I'm with Hoeech-- it looks exactly like the sort of "peg" used to hold on the legs of the chairs to my daughter's little dinette set she ate/played at when she was smitch-size. What a concern this has been for you! Thank God it wasn't a battery! The chemicals that could have leaked out could have caused substantial burning and-- LET'S NOT GO THERE, since it's fortunately been proven to be something otherwise and not dangerous. I'll be thinking of you and your daughter, both waiting for the "passage"-- especially you: I keep hearing an imaginary crowd at a imaginary hockey game in my head cheering you on with their "Sieve! Sieve! Sieve!" Best of luck! This is truly one for your little one's Baby Memories Book!

OMG, I doubt if a wooden or plastic peg can be seen on ER. Can it be a metal plug or a toy part? I hope she is fine. Please let us know, as soon as you know it. My daughter had swallowed paper clips, when she was about the same age, so don't worry.
