Little man is growing up fast

Today was my son's fourth birthday. I can't believe he's four already. My little girl is almost two. Where did the time go? We are thinking about having another one, but I don't really want to deal with morning sickness again and that dang painful thing called childbirth. Speaking of four...I can't believe it's been over four months since my last blog. Spare time is rare when you have two little ones. I've also been doing a lot on facebook. I seem to be contributing less and less. I can't even tell you the last guide I acquired. Submitting has picked up for my guides. Although a lot is rejected because people will never learn that they can not copy and paste. A lot seem to be from a new user and I've tried to explain to him/her what they are doing wrong, but it doesn't seem to be working. What baffles me is that someone has accepted five of his submissions. If they are anything like the ones I am getting, they never bothered to check to see that they were copied and pasted summaries. Oh well. Nothing I can do about it. I've also tried telling this user that they can not copy and paste summaries from other sites and use that as their review. It doesn't work that way. I'm not sure that tv.com lifting the ban on level one submitters was such a good thing after all.

We are going to be moving in a few weeks to a new house. It has both a huge pool in the backyard and a lake a block down. I doubt I will be on that much anymore. I am thinking of retiring from a lot of my guides. I think to date I've retired from over two hundred of them so far. I have no desire to gain any more.

I can't believe that in less a weeks time that we have lost Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, and now Billy Mays. I really liked Billy Mays' new show Pitchman. I am relieved that Farrah finally passed on to a better and pain-free place. She was suffering for so long. Michael was a shocker! I still can't believe that one. I think there is more to the story than anyone knows. Something fishy is going on. Ed was just old and in a bad place. The last years of someone's life should not be filled with as much drama as his was. What a week! Hopefully next week will be better.

The lifting of the first level submission ban is going to be a disaster for the editors. But since TPTB are only interested in increasing the number of clicks the site gets (the "Blondes VS Brunettes" nonsense leaps to mind as a primo example), the damage that this revised policy will cause is not foremost in their minds.

Congrats on the new house. I hope your prepared for the extra work pool maintanence is. Most importantly of all, make absolutely sure that the munchkins cannot get anywhere near the pool on their own. Contrary to what you see in the movies, a child can drown in a backyard pool in under 20 seconds and no one will hear them make a blessed sound. The combination of toddlers and pools always scares me.

The losses in the entertainment industry this past week has been staggering. Ed McMahon and Farrah were somewhat expected, but Billy Mays and Michael Jackson? In addition, we also lost Gale Storm earlier today. The "In Memoriam" reels on the award shows will be enormous this season.

P.S. If you do plan on retiring some of your person guides, for the love of God, hang onto the Obamas. I'd feel a lot better knowing they were in the hands of a serious editor like yourself rather than letting them fall into the clutches of a gamer.

Happy 4th to your son! It's nice to see you post a blog once in a while. New users (esp. the young ones) can be stubborn sometimes. You don't even know whether they read the non-acceptance comments you put in or not. With regards to retiring guides, I know now not to retire the more popular ones. I've been checking out the guides I handled before and some of them are in bad shape now. RIP to those celebrities.

Hoeech: I was worried about the pool as well, until I saw it. It is above ground and has a deck on it. The FIRST thing I am going to do is put a gate at the bottom of the stairs. I have a really sturdy, locking gate, that a child can't climb or open. I also thought about getting a pool alarm to float in the pool.

mackymacaspac: I know what you are saying about guides you've retired from. I look back at previous ones of mine, that all for some odd reason seem to have the same editor, and can't figure out what has even changed. How did they get the guide then? A lot of them aren't even up to date yet. I tried to submit a few episodes that were missing on a show that is currently airing, and the new editor rejected them for no reason. There are some guides that are in really BAD shape, but I don't have the time, nor the patience to fix them, especially if they have an editor that may give me problems. Nice to see you back by the way.

"I am relieved that Farrah finally passed... Michael was a shocker!... I think there is more to the story than anyone knows. Something fishy is going on. Ed was just old and in a bad place." Such poignant insight. LOL! Good luck on the move, and Happy Birthday to your BIG little man about to blow out four candles!
