Another great show I've now started watching

For about a week now, I've been watching "Futurama" seasons 1 and 2 on DVD and now I'm declaring myself as an official "fan." It's a fantastic show and it leaves to wonder why it was cancelled in the first place. I'm getting seasons 3 and 4 tomorrow and I'll start watching them as soon as my workday ends.

A Historical First

Tonight will probably be the only night where an entire hour of news didn't recap or even mention the Super Bowl...on the day it happened! Instead, we get full coverage of a parked car in Covina because it was the end of a Car Chase and there was a boring standoff.

-It wasn't even a chase, it was a parked car in a residential area

-THE SUPER BOWL JUST HAPPENED!!!

What's next? Will they cover someone eating their breakfast and mowing the lawn during the Inauguration of our new president?

Coming This Fall...

This 2007 marching season, the Pasadena City College Lancer Band will be performing music from the rock band Chicago (the older music, not the new cheesy stuff). Here are the selections:

Happy Independence Day To All

Happy Freedom Day everyone (even if you don't live in America). It's now been exactly 231 years since the Declaration of Independence was signed. They are the ones to thank for this successful and relatively newnation. Thanks and God bless!

Malcolm Arnold R&B/Soul/Urban
""
Malcolm Arnold is such a great and yet overlooked composer. He wrote nine symphonies (all of them great) and one of my favorite pieces: Peterloo Overture. The contrasts between peace and war are executed brilliantly throughout this piece. The English Dances are also an all-time favorite because they exude brilliance without going over the top. His works are hard to come by but when you see one of his CD's or records, quickly grab it and listen when you can.

Samuel Barber Classical
""
Samuel Barber is one of the most prolific composers of the 20th century. His most famous work is "Adagio for Strings" and it is played on many popular television shows and movies. His music is also widely used in marching band performances and they have proven to be high scoring and popular amongst audiences. Listen to one of his works and you will see why I gave Samuel Barber 5 stars.
