Now THAT, I was not expecting. Modern Warfare 2 and Phantasy Star 0 impressions.
So I recently got two new games, which both came out on last Tuesday. The first was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, obviously.
So far, Modern Warfare 2 is completely amazing. It's not as good as all the hype would lead you to believe, but then again, no game deserves THAT much hype. The campaign is fun and has the perfect length (not too long, not too short), and the multiplayer is infinitely better than Modern Warfare 1. Weapons and grenades are more balanced this time around, making it harder for people to constantly kill you just by mindlessly spamming grenades everywhere. As some of you may know, I always criticized Modern Warfare 1's multiplayer for being nothing more than a huge, grenade-spamming camp-fest.
But things are more balanced this time around. All in all, though, I'd say I'm still enjoying Halo 3: ODST a little more.
So, yeah, that's not what I was surprised about. I expected Modern Warfare 2 to be really good.
Onto the second game, and HERE'S the surprise. I bought Phantasy Star Zero for the DS, and... it may sound weird, but I'm liking this game more than Modern Warfare 2.
Something about it... the gameplay is just so addictive and fun; very similar to Phantasy Star Online (which happens to be one of my favorite games of all-time). I can't say much about the gameplay, since it's kind of hard to describe. So I'll end this blog here.
Your picture is here, and I'll see you all soon. ![]()
Payback is a bee-otch
Tagged. AGAIN... payback for when I tagged -DaNuTz- all those years ago when the last round of tagging happened. And he posted a whopping 25 facts... and since I'm not one to weasel out of work, here's 25 facts about me.
1: I'm originally from a small town named Groveland in Massachusetts, just outside of Haverhill.
2: I planned on entering the Second Annual Halolzween Pumpkin Carving Contest, but the pumpkin I had turned out to be rotten, and it fell apart when I started carving it.
(Click the link to see the awesome pumpkins that were submitted!)
3: Despite having a DeviantArt account with many people following me, I have yet to post a single picture on there.
4: In my free time, I began writing a series of blogs on NoobFeed called "Top 10 Characters", where I take my 10 favorite characters from a gaming series and write about their personality and their impact on the game's story. If you'd like to see them, here's my Ace Attorney one and my Fire Emblem one.
5: I didn't really like the multiplayer for Call of Duty 4, and I only play it when my friends are.
6: I recently bought Team Fortress 2 for the PC after running a system requirements test (it said I could run it). However, it's so slow and laggy on my PC, it's impossible to play.
7: My favorite movies are Pulp Fiction and The Boondock Saints.
8: My favorite games are Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, and Fire Emblem 7.
9: When playing Brawl, I tend to main Marth, Zelda, and Captain Falcon.
10: I have two cats; one weighs eight pounds and has diabetes, and the other weighs 20 pounds and licks plastic bags.
11: Though raised as a Greek Orthodox Christian, I recently became an atheist, then later converted to the Church of Falcon. Then I accepted the Wings of Valmar as my savior, then became an atheist again.
12: My favorite comedian is (or was) George Carlin. Rest in peace. ![]()
13: Some of my favorite shows include The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, South Park, and Futurama.
14: As effeminate as I may seem, I am 100% straight.
15: On that topic, I recently realized that 99% of my avatars have been females, and 90% of them have had red hair.
16: I don't believe in the whole 2012 theory, much like I didn't believe in the Y2K scare.
17: Soon, I may leave GameSpot behind and move permanently to NoobFeed.
18: Hopefully, once I finish high school and get out of college, I will go to law school and become a defense attorney.
19: Of the many real-life friends I have on GameSpot, I am the only one that is still regularly active.
20: I recently cut soda out of my diet nearly 100%.
21: I began gaming further back than my memory reaches, starting with an old NES at my grandparent's house.
22: Politically, I share both left- and right-wing ideals, but I currently lean more left.
23: I really wish that Fire Emblem 7 would be adapted into a movie or an anime, and actually be handled by someone who knows what the hell they're doing.
24: 25 facts is 25 too many. You'll get yours, Danutz. Mark my words...
25: If you made it this far, congratulations! You win a cookie.
Done with that. I'm not going to tag anyone in hopes that it will help this blow over sooner, but feel free to post some facts about you if you'd like. Picture here, see you soon. ![]()
Impressions: Fire Emblem
Been playing Fire Emblem for the GBA. The one that's just called "Fire Emblem." So far, it's really good. Fun gameplay, and as you all probably know by now, I'm a sucker for character-driven storylines (Grandia II, Ace Attorney, Fire Emblem, etc.), so it's got a pretty good story too. And my personal favorite aspect, interesting/good characters. Eliwood is a little one-dimensional, but Hector is pretty interesting. Florina is kind of funny, and Sain and Kent always make me laugh as well. On the nicer side... Lyn is definitely interesting to watch.
So, you know what that means... time for an avatar switch.
Lyndis this time. Three pictures, here, here, and here. The first one is a headshot of the official art for her, with a gold background. The second one is another piece of official art. The third one is her forward-facing sprite from the game, with a red background. As per usual, pick the one you like best.
Not much else new... still waiting for Modern Warfare 2, but a large number of DS games have piqued my interest as well. Namely, Mario & Luigi, Scribblenauts, Kingdom Hearts, and Phantasy Star 0. So I might rent one or two of those while waiting.
Instead of a picture today, it's a short funny video. See it here.
While I've got you here though, anyone have anything to say about the following Fire Emblem games; Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn, and The Sacred Stones? I heard Radiant Dawn was ridiculously hard, and if so, I don't think I'll do too well at the moment...
Woohoo!
Pokemon HeartGold arrived today! ![]()
So far, I've got myself a Cyndaquil, a Pidgey, and a Sentret (*cough*HMSlave*cough*). Then I caught a Spearow on my Pokewalker (a little pedometer that comes with the game. It counts your steps, and depending on how many steps you took, your Pokemon can gain experience and happiness. And you randomly get a currency called "Watts", which you can use to find wild Pokemon or items). Oh, and I downloaded the Yellow Forest area for the Pokewalker via Mystery Gift WiFi. Playing there right now; imagine an area where you can find a whole bunch of Light Balls (a Pikachu-exclusive hold item that doubles Pikachu's Attack and Special Attack), and wild Pikachu that know weird moves like Surf, Fly, Flail, and Volt Tackle (which was his Final Smash in Brawl).
Also, I switched my avatar back to Din. I have Millenia as my Halolz avatar, and I kinda got sick of seeing her so much.
Enough Pokemon news for now, there'll be plenty later. Picture here, and a video here (Brentalfloss!!! ZELDA!!!). See you all later. ![]()
Gotta get back on NoobFeed soon... but I only have time for one right now, and I know more people at GS, so...
Now that that's out of the way...
So, yeah. Haven't been active around here for quite a while now. What's new? Well, a couple things.
First off, HeartGold still hasn't arrived yet. 5-10 business days was the arrival time, and today is the 10th, so... fingers crossed.
Second... I started playing Final Fantasy I and II: Dawn of Souls. I haven't tried FFII yet, but FFI is really good. So far, that makes two Final Fantasy games that I like (1 and 10). I've got a party consisting of a Red Mage, a Warrior (Fighter), a Black Mage, and a Thief. Red Mages are freaking AMAZING. He's hitting just as hard as my Warrior in physical attacks, as hard as my Black Mage in magic, and striking as many times as my Thief. Plus having both black and white magic is invaluable. And he looks so bas@$$ to boot... I just wish he wasn't so damn expensive to keep equipped.
2500 for a spell where I am right now? Bull. ![]()
Alright, now... Halo 3: ODST. Possibly my most hyped game of the year (maybe tied with HeartGold, slightly beating out Modern Warfare 2), and I absolutely love everything about this game. $60 USD seems a little steep, and Bungie wanted it t be $30 USD, but Microsoft said NAY. So, we've got $60 for a short Campaign and Firefight... not worth it. Oh, but it also comes with the entire Halo 3 Multiplayer on another disc (Matchmaking, Custom Games, Forge, all the previous DLC maps worth $30 USD, and three new maps worth another $10 USD). So you're pretty much paying $20 USD for Campaign, Firefight, and Halo 3 Multiplayer if you don't count how much the maps would have cost. Quite a deal, when you look at it. Anyways, back to the game itself. Not much to say; it's Halo, polished a little more. AI seems smarter, weapons seem to have been balanced more, and... Firefight. Firefight is simply amazing. Stick up to four people in an area, send waves and waves of Covenant at them, and the fun just makes itself. Kinda like Horde and Nazi Zombies, but much more fun And the skulls turning on keeps it interesting.
That's all for now. Picture here, gonna get around to your blogs soon. See you all later. ![]()
Not even hacks can take down a true gaming hero.
Samus Aran, I salute thee for taking down the menace that was Bub & Bob.

After beating Ridley and Kraid countless times, surviving three seperate encounters with the deadly phazon substance, survived and exterminated the X parasites, destroyed the Space Pirate armada, exterminated the Metroid scourge, and defeated the Mother Brain twice... no way she'd lose to THAT website.
Inglorious Basterds impressions, among other things
Just saw Inglorious Basterds. Indeed, this movie is amazing. Imagine Pulp Fiction, mixed with a WW2 movie. And less philosophical, more funny. Bottom line, best movie of the year, hands-down. The best part was about a guy nicknamed "The Bear Jew". A baseball aficionado from Boston with a Boston accent, and a penchant for beating people (Nazis specifically) with a baseball bat. Sound familiar? And here's the best connection.
Pokemon HeartGold is on its way, so you don't have to worry about me chewing your ears off with Pokemon news anymore.
It should be here by the end of the week, and I'll blog about my impressions on it sometime the week after, then comes ODST... well, between that and school, my time is kinda taken up right now, sorry if I don't comment on your blogs immediately.
So, now for some srs business. Please go here and vote for Sonic. Seriously. Even if you don't like him. Long story short, the bracket may or may not have been hijacked by a site that shall remain nameless, and said site is attempting to fix it so that Bub & Bob win. So, what do we do? Squash the attempt before it gets too far. I don't know about any of you, but I don't want to see Samus go up against this site.
Well, that's it for me for now. Picture here, thanks for reading.
New banner
Just something I made in about five minutes. It's all the main characters from Halo 3: ODST. I know some of them are a little hard to tell apart; but it's all about the color on their chestplate and the details on their helmets. From left to right, we have The Rookie (the main character), Dutch (the heavy weapons specialist), Mickey (the explosives specialist), Dare (the ONI agent and Captain), Buck (the ex-leader of the squad, before Dare took over), and Romeo (the specialist/sniper). Whaddaya think?
I'll try to be more active from now on. Everything else on this page is Team Fortress 2-related, so you don't have to read that if you don't want to. But the picture's down there.
So, apparently Valve finally cracked down on people who were using external programs to manipulate the item system in Team Fortress 2. Anyone who was caught had all their items (hats for the first offense, everything after that) taken away, and those who "took the moral high road" were awarded with a nice halo hat. Needless to say, people who used idling software are pissed off. Picture of that here. And for some reason, the people with halos are the people that are hated... so let's get that one straight. People who manipulated the game software (in other words, cheating) are angry at the people that didn't. And they don't realize how lucky they are. Valve could have banned them or took other, worse actions against them. Anyway, back to the halo hate. A couple of my friends from Halolz had been talking about it, and they'd entered some servers where people with halos would be ignored by Medics, shot first by enemies, constantly pestered by teammates, and even team-killed if friendly fire was on. Some hackers even made a mod that replaces a halo with a giant, lit-up sign that says... well, GS will censor it if I say it, but there's a picture of it here. Some are, at the moment, making a mod that changes the halo into a huge penis (I WON'T be linking a picture of that one). Seriously. You cheated, you were caught, deal with it. In the immortal words of the Heavy; "YOU! BABY! CRY SOME MORE!"
Top 10 gaming pseudo-heroes/heroines: #1
It's all come down to this. And it's a long one.
#1 - Millenia (Grandia II, for the SEGA Dreamcast) (C'mon... who didn't see it coming?)

Type: villain-turned-hero-turned-villain-turned-hero-turned-villain-turned-hero... well, it's just easier to call her insane.
And "insane" really does suit her well. Millenia is one of the playable characters in the under-the-radar RPG Grandia II. She is also one of the quirkiest, strangest, and most complex characters you'll ever see. It pretty much breaks down into this; she's 10% goddess, 10% devil, 10% sardonic tease, 10% shy child, 10% cynical b-word, and 50% bat$#*%-insane, clingy stalker.
If you want a brief synopsis of her character, check the dark blue section. But if you really want to understand, you're gonna have to read the massive light blue section. Major spoilers in that one.
It all starts when the game's main character, Ryudo (who, as I said in a previous blog post, is a Geohound, which pretty much means a mercenary), is asked to escort a songstress named Elena to a tower, where she will seal in a piece of Valmar (the devil). Anyway, the ceremony fails, and everyone dies (except for Ryudo and Elena). Also, Elena becomes possessed by the Wings of Valmar... also known as Millenia. As such, Millenia can take over Elena's body for short periods of time, until she gets tired. In a simple way to put this, Millenia and Elena's consciousness both share one body, but their appearance is based on whoever is in control. You get your first glimpse of Millenia when she first takes over Elena's body and attempts to destroy Carbo Village. Ryudo stands up to her, and gets his @$$ kicked in a fight. While Ryudo is to hurt to move, Millenia teases him for a moment, and flies off. More importantly, this is when she first falls for Ryudo.
So, Ryudo is asked to be Elena's bodyguard again. This time, he must take her halfway across the world to the Granas Cathedral (pretty much the game's equivalent of the Vatican), in order to get the Wings of Valmar exorcised from Elena. And of course, Millenia is not happy about that.
As far as personality goes, Millenia is often short-tempered, cynical, and vain. However, she simply puts this act on; inside, she is actually nice, caring, vulnerable, and even a little sweet (to people she likes). Even still, she does sometimes take pleasure in angering people (especially Elena) and annoying others (especially Ryudo). Even another layer of her personality is her romantic, coy side she shows around Ryudo... which often crosses with her insane side (she often clings to Ryudo, and on multiple occasions, expressed interest in raping him. And she almost does once, but is interrupted. Can you believe this game is rated T?).
As the Wings of Valmar, Millenia's sole duty is to gather all the other pieces (tongue, eye, claws, horns, body, and heart) and resurrect Valmar (becoming Valmar in the process). However, as she gathers the pieces (with Ryudo and the others unknowingly helping her), she falls in love with Ryudo, and she no longer wants to become Valmar in order to stay with Ryudo. However, things get even more complicated when Elena falls in love with Ryudo as well (what's got three corners, and all of 'em are pointy? A love triangle.), and Millenia once again decides to become complete as Valmar, and take over Elena's body for good (thus, she will take Elena out of the picture, and avoid that particularly nasty love triangle).
To complicate things even more, Ryudo becomes possessed by the Horns of Valmar, and Millenia needs those. However, if the Horns are removed from Ryudo, his soul will be destroyed (just like everyone else's that had been possessed so far). Millenia attempts to remove the Horns, but cannot bring herself to do it. She instead seals the Horns away deep within Ryudo, and once again vows to not become whole as Valmar. But that decision is made for her when the main villain of the game forces her to. Elena is badly injured in the process, Millenia is presumed dead, Valmar is reborn, and the world is being destroyed. However, as Ryudo and Elena attempt to kill Valmar, Elena finds a way to revive Millenia, and the three of them kill off Valmar once and for all.
Whew... I hope that makes sense, 'cause I'm not gonna go back and review all that.
Just showing how insane she is, here's a couple of my favorite quotes from her;
==========
*Ryudo goes off to take care of a monster problem that a town is having, and lets Millenia go along with him.*
Millenia
"Aw… you're a sweetheart, aren't ya? This should be fun!"
Ryudo
"If your idea of fun is wading through rivers of blood, gobbets of flesh and blood fresh upon your lips, then yes, it will be fun."
Millenia
"Then what're we waiting for, tiger?! I'm getting antsy!"
==========
*Millenia feels that Ryudo is ignoring her and constantly spending time with Elena*
Millenia (with a fairly pathetic expression on her face)
"I just can't stand being left out! All eyes on me! Yoohoo!"
==========
*A young girl named Aira, Sandra's daughter, was just killed when Millenia took the Eye of Valmar out of her*
Sandra
"...She was the light of my life. Now tell me, how can I make my life worth living again...?"
Millenia
"Ha ha ha! Die. End it. Then everyone else's lives will be worth living. It's all your fault, anyway. 'Sides, why should we care?"
Remember how I said she likes to piss people off?
==========
*The villain, Zera, is attempting to use Millenia to revive Valmar*
Zera
"O wings of Valmar, what is wrong? You are the key to the revival of Valmar! You will rule the world as a god! Come!"
Millenia (with a hilariously child-like expression on her face)
"…I don't wanna!"
==========
Millenia (clinging to Ryudo's arm, listening to festival music)
"I think I like living like a human. I've never heard a song like this, Ryudo. It's so… so… what's the opposite of chaotic?"
==========
Just a genuinely hilarious and insane character. To deep to be anywhere but #1 on the list.
So, what do you think? Leave a comment! Picture here, see you soon!
Top 10 gaming pseudo-heroes/heroines - #s 4, 3, and 2
Here's where things start to get complex. And we also have our first pseudo-heroine coming in at #3. Well, here goes.
#4 - Miles Edgeworth (Phoenix Wright and Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations, for the Nintendo DS)

Type: hero who exhibits villain-like traits
The magenta-clad king of prosecutors, Miles Edgeworth himself. Edgeworth became a prosecutor after his father was murdered and he was taken in by the legendary prosecutor, Manfred von Karma. Taught to strive for nothing but perfection, Edgeworth's ruthless yet effective courtroom tactics quickly solidified his nickname as "the demon prosecutor". Soon, rumors of forged evidence and illegal searches began to surround him, but he payed no heed. Eventually, he met his match in his childhood friend and rookie defense attorney, Phoenix Wright. Edgeworth would do anything to get a guilty verdict and make sure the guilty were put in jail, even if it meant putting innocent people behind bars as well. However, after spending time in the courtroom with Phoenix, he began to understand that innocent people should not suffer in jail, no matter what. Edgeworth mellowed out and left the country, only returning to assist Phoenix in a case two years later.
Up next is #3, and one of our more mysterious pseudo-heroes.
#3 - Ada Wong (Resident Evil 2, for the Sony PlayStation, and Resident Evil 4, for the Nintendo Gamecube)

Type: unknown
Quite the character, Ada is a secret agent for... well, no one knows that. She is attempting to... well, I guess no one knows that either. Anyway, she often helps out the hero of RE 2 and 4, Leon Kennedy, by working behind the scenes to help him progress. However, she does have her own agenda, and has fought with Leon before, and even gone as far as to hold him at gunpoint until he gave her a sample of a virus. In her time, she has feigned cooperation with countless factions and people, including Umbrella Corporation and Albert Wesker. However, she usually ends up betraying them. Essentially, the only person who still has reason to trust her is Leon.
Not much to say about a mysterious character like Ada, but next up is a character with some clearer motives; #2.
#2 - Felix (Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age, for the Game Boy Advance, and also presumably Golden Sun DS)

Type: hero who appears to be a villain
One of the main antagonists of the original Golden Sun, Felix betrayed his hometown of Vale by stealing four gems known as "elemental stars." If the stars are placed in each of their corresponding lighthouses, the power of alchemy (the combined power of the four elements, wind, water, fire, and earth) will be unleashed upon the world, and man will most likely use it for war and conquest. So, Isaac (the main character) sets out to stop Felix from achieving his goals. However, in the second game, Isaac discovers that without the power of alchemy, the world itself is actually dying, like an animal cut off from food or water. Turns out Felix was taking the risk in order to save the world. Now that's quite the decision; quietly wait for the world to end, or potentially end up destroying it yourself? Isaac joins Felix on his quest, and together, they light the four lighthouses, and release alchemy's power.
Mm-hm. Very nice characters, all of them. But #1 is one of the most amazing, deep, and complicated characters in any game, and all the others combined still pale in comparison to them. Who will it be? We'll find out later tonight... or possibly tomorrow morning. Or the day after. Or sometime in November.
...Just kidding. It'll be either tonight or tomorrow morning. Picture, good day.
Top 10 gaming pseudo-heroes/heroines - #s 7, 6, and 5
More pseudo-heroes. No pseudo-heroines yet, but we'll get there. Again, slight spoilers.
NOTE: Gamespot's being ridiculous, so you'll have to click their name if you want to see a pic.
#7 - Knuckles (Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles, for the SEGA Genesis)
Type: villain-turned-hero
*sigh* I promised myself I wouldn't pick more than one character from a series, but Knuckles was too good to pass up. Anyways, Knuckles first appeared in Sonic 3, where he (seemingly for no reason) attacks Sonic and steals the Chaos Emeralds from him. Sonic chases Knuckles down, along the way recovering the Chaos Emeralds and defeating the evil Dr. Robotnik, while Knuckles does whatever he can to slow down Sonic's progress. Continue to the next game, Sonic & Knuckles. Sonic has recovered the Chaos Emeralds and put a halt on Dr. Robotnik's plans, and begins to hunt Knuckles down. Finally, they fight, and just before Sonic delivers the finishing blow, Dr. Robotnik flies by, with the Master Emerald that he had just stolen (which it's Knuckles's job to guard). Turns out, Dr. Robotnik tricked Knuckles by telling him that Sonic was the one who wanted to steal the Master Emerald, and while Sonic and Knucles were tired out form the fighting, Robotnik came by and grabbed the Master Emerald. Using what's left of his strength, Knuckles assists Sonic in chasing down Robotnik, and Sonic finally defeats him again, recovering the Master Emerald.
Next up... #6. A character I was considering taking off of the list, due to vague motives and my somewhat lacking knowledge on him.
#6 - Meta Knight (various Kirby games)
Type: unknown
Meta Knight is one of the stranger pseudo-heroes. At times, he hampers Kirby's progress throughout the games, and at times, he throws Kirby some items to help him. Then other times, they just fight. Anyway, there's not much else to say about him; sometimes a villain, sometimes a hero. Even now, his motives are still unknown; so far, all we really know is that he has some problem with Kirby.
Up next, #5. A character we all know. Some love him, some hate him.
#5 - Thel 'Vadam (Halo 2, Halo 3)
Type: villain-turned-hero
Thel 'Vadam, more commonly known as "The Arbiter", is a shamed Elite from the Halo series. In order to redeem himself before his leaders, he is given the title of "Arbiter" and sent on a suicide mission. When he survives, he is sent on more missions. Eventually, he meets the Master Chief, and realizes the truth about the Halo rings and his leaders. He and his species join the humans in their attempt to defeat the Covenant and save the galaxy from the threat of the Halo rings and the parasitic organism, the "Flood". In the end, Thel and the Master Chief kill the Covenant leader, the Prophet of Regret, and use the fourth Halo ring to exterminate the Flood.
Mm-hm. Check back later today for #s 4, 3, and 2, and possibly even later for #1 (but probably tomorrow).
Here's your pic! See you soon!
Top 10 gaming pseudo-heroes/heroines: #s 10, 9, and 8
Been a while since I did something like this... skip past them if you don't care, 'cause there's something I need to ask you.
So... a pseudo-hero. What does it mean? A pseudo-hero is an important character, but not the main character, who is a hero who exhibits villain-like characteristics on many occasions. Pseudo-heroes are often genuinely likable characters (the kind of characters you "love to hate") with vague motives (some more than others). Some pseudo-heroes are villains who turn heroic near the end of a story. So, let's go through a short list I've compiled of a few of my favorites!
NOTE: Obviously, there will be some spoilers. Check next to their name to see the game that they're from, and skip ones you don't want to spoil.
#10 - Shadow (Sonic Adventure 2, for the SEGA Dreamcast)

Type: villain-turned-hero
Ah, Shadow. Nearly every good hero needs a rival, and Shadow is there to fill that role for Sonic. Shadow begins as a villain, assisting Dr. Robotnik with his goal of world domination. Throughout the course of the game, however, he does some soul-searching, and switches sides just in the nick of time... just quickly enough to sacrifice his life to save the world. And I'm not gonna even fathom how he's still alive in other Sonic games (which shall remain nameless due to mediocre-ness).
#9 - The Computer (Metroid Fusion, for the Game Boy Advance)
(No photo)
Type: neutral-turned-villain-turned-hero
Throughout Metroid Fusion, Samus is following the command of a computer... with no name. Anyway, she reflects on how the computer reminds her of an old CO of hers, Adam Malkovich. The computer helps her with her missions and helps her survive the deadly "X" parasites throughout the events of the game... but later, the Galactic Federation takes an interest in the parasites, and the computer turns on Samus. The computer then strings her along, attempting to keep her out of the way, but Samus finds out the truth for herself eventually. Eh, sorry, my description here is a little... "lacking", but there's not much to say about a character like this; I just felt that it should be somewhere on this list. Anyways, Samus manages to make the computer understand just how dangerous the X are, and the computer disobeys its orders to assist Samus in destroying the space station and planet that had been contaminated by the parasites. Also, it turns out that the computer was based off of the mind of none other than Adam Malkovich, Samus's old CO. Pretty strange, no?
Okay, those first two were just filler. Here's where things begin to get interesting...
#8 - Albus (Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, for the Nintendo DS)

Type: hero who appears to be a villain
(Stick with me, this might get a little confusing at times.) Albus and his friend Shanoa (the main character) are members of a guild known as Ecclesia; a group dedicated to finding a way to prevent Dracula from returning to life. To do so, they use the power of glyphs; magical symbols that can be placed on the body and used as weapons. The guild's master, Barlowe, eventually creates three glyphs, known as Dominus, that can supposedly rid the world of Dracula forever. However, whoever uses these glyphs will die. Albus promptly volunteers to sacrifice himself, but is instead sent on an errand by Barlowe. When he returns, he realizes that Barlowe instead chose Shanoa to host the glyphs, and only sent Albus away so that he would not interfere. But the entire reason that Albus wanted to host Dominus was to protect Shanoa, so he steals the glyphs and begins searching for a way to use them differently, whilst being hunted down by Shanoa. Eventually, Shanoa recovers Dominus and defeats Albus, only to realize that Dominus is actually Dracula's power, and Barlowe wanted her to use it so that he could revive Dracula. Shanoa defeats Barlowe, but before he dies, he sacrifices himself to revive Dracula, and Shanoa is forced to hunt him down. Eventually, she corners Dracula and uses Dominus to defeat him. However, before Dominus takes her life, Albus (who lived on through the piece of Dominus that Shanoa took from him) sacrifices what is left of himself to protect Shanoa. Quite the hero.
Hm... I was hoping that one would turn out a little better. Anyways, the remaining 7 will be a lot better.
Now here's where you come in... I'd like to know what you think. Do you have a character that you'd like to be on this list? If so, let me know in a comment!
Picture here, see you all soon!
A Geohound I was meant to be, trim the sails and roam the sea... wait, what?
(The blog title is a mix of a song from The Curse Of Monkey Island, "A Pirate I Was Meant To Be", and a term from Grandia II, a "Geohound", which is pretty much a messy yet efficient mercenary.)
Two new (and old) games for me... Grandia II and MGS2, for a total of $17. Two games I had quite a while ago, and recently re-requisitioned.
First up, Metal Gear. Not much to say here; great stealth game. Confusing storyline. Basic old Metal Gear Solid.
Now... Grandia. Grandia, Grandia, Grandia. One of my favorite games ever, and old RPG for the Dreamcast that was later re-released onto the PS2. And the graphics and frame rate are actually WORSE on the PS2. But the game is still completely amazing, and definitely worth the money.
So, as per usual when I fish out an old game, it's time for an avatar change. I've got two pictures of Millenia, a character from Grandia II, and I would like to hear what you think about them. ...Come to think of it, I'm so early in the game right now, she's not even in my party yet. Which do you think will make a better avatar? This one or this one? I'm leaning more towards the first one at the moment, though the second one came from a better picture... it's just that the icon turned out a lot worse. EDIT: I touched up the second one, and am now using it. It's much closer to what I was going for. I might use the first one if I touch it up a little.
Movies. Boondock Saints 2: All Saint's Day comes out on November 1st. Yep... it comes out on All Saints Day. The Trigun movie comes out... well, I'm not sure. But it'll be sweet! ![]()
Now I haven't been on much in quite a while; I tried to come back, but my father began building a deck, and now I'm outside in the scorching August heat from sunup 'til sundown helping him. I'll be back by mid next week, I PROMISE. Picture here, have a good day.
Also, Halolz has started putting smaller pictures underneath the one you're looking at, so you don't even have to change pages to see other pictures! Pretty sweet.
Also, here's the newest segment to my blogs, if you care about news on Pokemon: HG/SS.
Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver Watch!
Not much new for news recently. There's been an english trailer, a vague US release date (Spring 2010) and a leaked scan of Jasmine's Gym. Still as plain and lonely as usual, but I liked it.
My return! Triumphant? We'll see.
Jeez, how long has it been? A month? Two? *checks* We'll call it one and a half.
So, stuff. I've been a little busy lately, getting a driver's license and a job now that I'm old enough. I applied at a few places and am currently trying to get a slot in the next driver's ed class I see. That and some family stuff has kept me away from GS and NoobFeed for a while, so I should get around to checking your blogs in a couple minutes.
So, what have I been playing recently... I've been playing a bit of Brawl whenever I got the chance. Lucario is untouchable if you know how to use him.
I also bought another 1600 Microsoft Points, which I spent on the Secret of Monkey Island remake and the third map pack for CoD: WaW. Monkey Island is great; not much to say there. Pretty much a very humorous point-and-click game. As for the new CoD maps, I can't really say much yet, but I can say that the new Nazi Zombies map is the best so far. Much more simple than Verruckt and Shia no Numa, but still more intricate than Nacht Der Untoten.
I bought my sister the 360 version of Bioshock for her birthday, but I think I've been playing it more than she has.
It's just an amazing game. Can't wait for the sequel.
And whenever I was stuck in the back seat of a car, I've been working on finishing Pokemon Crystal 100%, with the help of my brother's Red and Silver, and my Gold (as well as a neat little glitch that let me get my hands on a Celebi). I've got 115 out of 251 caught so far, and I have all the R/B/Y exclusive ones (the starters, the fossils, and the legends). I just have to get my hands on my brother's Totodile (or an egg), and I'll be able to get the rest on my own.
TV and Movies time! I recently found the single greatest TV show of all time; Arrested Development. You may remember this from anywhere from 3-6 years back; it ran for 2 and a half seasons, and was cancelled. Mainly because it was pretty inaccessible, since 90% of the jokes refer to older episodes. But hey; Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, David Cross, Michael Cera, Jeffery Tambor... you can't go wrong with them. Luckily, they're making an Arrested Development movie in 2010. Now in movies, I saw Waiting yesterday. Ridiculously funny, very overrated. Ryan Reynolds... is just perfect for that role. Justin Long is great in it too, as always. I also bought the Watchmen DVD on sale yesterday for $9 USD, so I'll watch that tonight.
Jeez... September will be a busy month for me. Not only will I be back in school, but I'll have a job (hopefully), and I'll have to juggle game time between Halo 3 ODST and Pokemon HeartGold.
So that's about it for me... what's going on with you? Picture here, see you all soon. ![]()
Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver watch! Check the light blue text if you care.
Not much big news recently. Any current rumors of Hoenn being in the game have been proven fake; though it's been confirmed that you will at least go to a small area there to get your Hoenn legend, and possibly again to the Sky Pillar if you get the second one.
Speaking of legends... Mewtwo, Latias, and Latios have pretty much been confirmed to be in the game, without need of an event. This is old news, however. Also, both Ho-oh and Lugia will be in the game, like in the original G/S/C. However, this time around, they will both be Level 45, and you can get both their signature moves (Sacred Fire and Aeroblast, respectively). Also, more likely than not, you won't get them until after the Elite 4, since all signs are pointing to a Suicune event instead. Yeah... that pretty much makes these games more of a Crystal remake than a Gold/Silver remake.
Recent gameplay videos of Ecruteak, my favorite city, have been seen. The buildings all look like ancient Japanese buildings. Nice.
So... remember Soul? Well, there's some rumors that Nintendo decided that Heart would be a better name for her. ...Yeah, Soul is a much better name. I still intend to name her Soul if I have the choice, or if I end up using the female character. Or I may just name her Kris.
But most importantly, there have been hints towards US and EU release dates. There's been a rumor of a December date for Europe, and around late October/early November for the US. Fingers crossed.
Went to the midnight showing of Harry Potter 6
Verdict? Best movie in the series.
For all the anal-retentive Harry Potter fanboys/fangirls out there, you will be glad to know that pretty much everything in the book is intact. My one main gripe about the movie, however, is quite simply; not enough Luna. I'm gonna have to remedy that by changing my avatar again.
So, I rented Punch-Out!! for the Wii. VERY good game, especially if you liked the original one for the NES. I also bought 1600 Microsoft points and spent them on Worms 2 Armageddon and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Both really great games as well.
That about does it for me. I might start up a segment at the end of my blogs with news on Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver, just as a way to pass some time until they come out. Picture here, see you all soon. ![]()
10 Things I Want In Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver
With the recent news on the Pokemon Gold and Silver remakes, I've been playing Pokemon Crystal for my GBC. As nostalgia, I've drawn up a list of ten things that I want either changed or not changed in the remakes, with pictures to go with the final four.
10: Original Berries
Back in Gold/Silver, berries were simple. 10 berries, each doing one thing. A Berry to recover 10 HP, a PrzCureBerry to cure paralysis, a Mint Berry to cure sleep, and 7 others. Nowadays, you get over 50 berries with tons of effects; some with none. Useless, I say.
9: Apricorns and Classic Special Pokeballs
As with the berries, there's been more Pokeballs than I care to recall. In Gold/Silver, there were a couple colors of Apricorns which you could give to a man named Kurt in Azalea Town, and he'd make you a special Pokeball. Simple ones, simple effects. Much better than the newer ones.
8: Suicune Event
The third game in the series, Crystal, featured an event in which the Pokemon Suicine, which you normally had to hunt down, confronted you in the Tin Tower, where it couldn't run away. This may or may not be in HG/SS, but I'd like it if it were.
7: Red Gyarados (CONFIRMED...?)
To show off Gold/Silver's new feature, off-colored or "shiny" Pokemon, a battle with a shiny Gyarados (colored red) was forced. This has almost been confirmed; Gold was seen battling a Pokemon on water, and although the name and picture of the Pokemon were blocked, you can see the shine that appears whenever you encounter a shiny Pokemon. Good news to me.
6: Day-Exclusive Events
To supplement the Game Boy Color's new processing power, the day was kept track of in the game. Depending on the day of the week, certain shops would be open, certain battles would be available, among other things. I would like to see these back.
5: Kanto (CONFIRMED)
The region from the original Pokemon Red/Blue, Kanto was available to explore in Gold/Silver. Eight new badges, more Pokemon, tougher battles. As one of the original selling points, it's no wonder they brought this back.
4: Red's Team Strengthened
![]()
(Red, as he appears in Pokemon FireRed/LeafGreen, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl)
Red, the protagonist from Pokemon Red/Blue, was available to fight in Mt. Silver. He was notable for having the strongest team ever in a Pokemon game. That is, until your rival's team in Pokemon Platinum. I'd like to see Red's team with even higher levels; at least level 86 to top the current record of 85.
3: Kris

(Kris, as she appears in Pokemon Crystal)
The first playable female character in Pokemon, Kris's first and only appearance was in Pokemon Crystal. It was speculated that she would return as the female playable character in HG/SS, but unfortunately, she was replaced by another character named Soul. I'd still like to see her in there somewhere, though.

(Soul, as she appears in Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver)
2: Catchable Celebi

Pokemon #251. The final Pokemon in the second generation. This Pokemon was originally available to catch in the Japanese version of Pokemon Crystal, but required a strange cell-phone-esque apparatus in order to find it. The device didn't take off in America/Europe, leaving non-Japanese players in the dark, though Celebi was still programmed into the game, and was obtainable by hacking or glitching Celebi itself, or the item needed to find it (the GS Ball). Hopefully, they'll put some way to catch Celebi in the new remakes.
1: Lugia AND Ho-oh, Aeroblast and Sacred Fire

I remember back in the good old days of Pokemon, namely the Gold/Silver/Crystal arc. When it wasn't unusual for both legends to be in a game. All legends were available in Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Crystal. And it wasn't until Ruby and Sapphire came along and ruined the series that only one was available in each game. Then Emerald came along, and made getting both into a "feature" and a "selling point". Pissing off a lot of hardcore fans, but selling a lot of copies of Emerald to newer players.
In cIassic Gold/Silver squalor, I want both Ho-oh and Lugia to be in the game. Back in G/S, whichever one was on the cover was at a lower level, which you caught earlier, and they knew their signature move; Aeroblast and Sacred Fire (in my opinion, the two best moves in the series), for Lugia and Ho-oh respectively. Thus, while you could catch them both, only one would have its best move.
If you read through all the way, congratulations! You're now addicted to Pokemon. As I am at the moment. Here's your picture, and I'll see you all soon. ![]()
Ach, fine. I posted it here. EDIT: R.I.P. Billy Mays, Michael Jackson
EDIT: Rest in peace, Billy Mays (July 20, 1958 - June 28, 2009) and Michael Jackson (August 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009) ![]()
A beloved mascot recently celebrated his 18th birthday. In honor of this achievement, I wrote this summary of him and his history; the story of Sonic The Hedgehog.
If you say the words "Sonic The Hedgehog" to gamers nowadays, you'll most likely get blank stares or sarcastic laughs. Indeed, as of recently, the games in Sonic's repertoire have been... "lacking", for lack of a better term. But how exactly did such a beloved and celebrated icon fall so far? In this retrospective, we'll explore Sonic's explosive debut, his prime, and his long fall into obscurity.
Flash back almost 20 years. The Nintendo Entertainment System has pulled video games out of their dark ages, and made a lot of money in the process. SEGA wanted a little piece of that, so on August 14th, 1989, the SEGA Genesis was released in North America. However, its lineup of games was weak; and while its hardware was superior to the NES, it didn't sell as well.
Skip ahead 22 months. Specifically, June 23rd, 1991. This day saw the birth of a new mascot for SEGA and a new icon in the gaming world; Sonic The Hedgehog.

The first in out beloved friend's series, Sonic The Hedgehog combined basic side-scrolling elements with blazing speed. While simple and easy to learn, Sonic The Hedgehog charmed gamers across the globe with its zany, fast-paced action.
Sonic The Hedgehog sold a large number of copies, and SEGA was quick to capitalize on its success. On November 24, 1992, the next chapter in Sonic's gaming career would be released in North America.

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 stunned the gaming world by selling a simply staggering number of copies quite quickly. The game was still simple, yet fun. In fact, not much had changed from the original Sonic The Hedgehog. However, a new idea that surfaced in this game would have a profound effect on the rest of the series.
One idea was the introduction of Sonic's new sidekick, Miles "Tails" Prower. The idea was simple; plug in a second controller, and a friend could play as Tails. Players could go through the single-player mode together, race each other in multiplayer maps, or compete to collect the most rings in special stages. Since Sonic 2, Tails has made an appearance in almost every Sonic game. With this, Sonic 2 was also one of the first games to feature both cooperative and competitive multiplayer.
Sonic 2 immediately shattered sales charts, becoming the top-selling Genesis game, but SEGA wasn't satisfied yet. They began working on a Sonic game that would blow any other game out of the water; however, due to cartridge constraints, that game had to be split into two. Only the first would bear the name Sonic The Hedgehog 3.
_000_76f.jpg)
The first of the two games hit North American shelves on February 2nd, 1994. Though it didn't sell as well as its predecessors (possibly because it was the only one so far that did not come bundled with the system), Sonic The Hedgehog 3 is widely considered, to this day, Sonic's best game. As Sonic 2 was similar to Sonic 1, Sonic 3 was very similar to Sonic 2. But a few new features made it shine.
First up is the implementation of a save system. Many games around this time featured a save slot, but Sonic 3 boasted six slots. This allowed players to progress through the game at their own pace, as opposed to the other Sonic games, which had to be completed in a single sitting.
As Sonic 2 introduced Tails, Sonic 3 saw the debut of a famous character as well; namely, Knuckles The Echidna. Originally an antagonist, Knuckles appeared in almost all future Sonic games as one of Sonic's friends.
Sonic 3 on its own was an incredible game, but its true potential would not be realized until 8 months later.

On October 17th, Sonic & Knuckles was released. The other half to Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles held a feature called the "lock-on" feature. This allowed Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 to be placed on top of, or "locked onto" the Sonic & Knuckles cartridge, rewriting some of the top game's code. In Sonic 2, this allowed the player to play as Knuckles, but in Sonic 3, the differences were much bigger.
Locking Sonic 3 onto the Sonic & Knuckles cartridge not only allowed players to play as Knuckles in the Sonic 3 levels, but it also added another eight save slots, and more levels for Sonic 3. The lock-on feature spurred an increase in sales of Sonic 3, which, combined with the sales of Sonic & Knuckles, made a great deal of money for SEGA.
The period slightly after Sonic & Knuckles' release is considered to be the prime of Sonic's life. Sonic was appearing everywhere from games, to merchandise, to TV, and even ice cream bars. But, all good things must come to an end.
SEGA soon released their new system, the SEGA Saturn, and they were quick to release a few Sonic games for it. However, these games paled in comparison to their Genesis counterparts. Sonic's popularity declined, and he was thought to be beyond rescue.
Fast-forward to September 9, 1999. SEGA's newest system, the SEGA Dreamcast, hits North American shelves, sporting a new Sonic game as a launch title.

With flashy 3D graphics, Sonic Adventure attempted to breathe life into the presumed-dead series. Did it succeed? In a way.
Sonic Adventure featured six playable characters. While this was one of the game's selling points, three of the characters' levels and gameplay were considered... well, terrible. This left the latter half of the game rather unenjoyable, and left a bitter aftertaste in an otherwise great game.
Despite that, the game sold well and received very good scores. As usual, SEGA was quick to make a sequel.

June 23, 2001. Sonic's 10th birthday. And a great day for Dreamcast owners. Sonic Adventure 2 was released, featuring a less touchy camera, multiplayer, and, once again, six characters.
Sonic Adventure 2 introduced one of the series' most recognizable characters, Shadow The Hedgehog. Due to his and Sonic's levels in the game being fun, he got a good rep. The other four characters, however, had (once again) bad gameplay.
Aside from the game, its soundtrack was highly praised. It is arguably one of the greatest game soundtracks ever.
Sonic Adventure 2 still scored and sold very highly, and it was thought that SEGA had reincarnated the old bird. Even after SEGA stopped releasing consoles, they continued to make Sonic games for other consoles; the first of them being Sonic Heroes.

Released for the Gamecube, Xbox, and PS2 on January 27th (January 5th for Gamecube) 2003, Sonic Heroes attempted to blend running-based gameplay, flying-based gameplay, and fighting-based gameplay into one... and failed. Sonic Heroes featured 12, count 'em, 12 characters. And only three that people cared about. Once again, Sonic's career was on the ropes. So, SEGA tried to rally old-school Sonic fans by releasing the (not so) coincidentally named game, Sonic The Hedgehog.
Our next stop is at the Xbox 360 on November 14th, 2006. Arguably not fit to bear the Sonic The Hedgehog name, Sonic the Hedgehog was a disappointing attempt to bring Sonic back from the brink of death (again). The game had a nice premise, but was bound by terrible execution.
With Sonic pretty much dead to even his most hardcore fans, SEGA decided it would be best to stay with what made Sonic games fun in the first place; speed.
This Wii-exclusive title hit shelves on February 20th, 2007. And it stunned the gaming world. While not great, this game showed that Sonic still as a little life left in him. A nice, Arabian Knights story with fast-paced action gave this game generally good reviews, and hyped up the next game, Sonic Unleashed, which promised to give more fast-paced action.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen. This disappointment came to North America on November 18, 2008. Sonic Unleashed plays in two ways; speed-based, and combat-based. The speed levels feel like old Sonic... but ironically, too fast, ruining many of the game's moments. And the combat levels are nothing more than a bad rip off of God of War. Once again, Sonic fans were disappointed.
Sonic's next game was promised to be part of a mini-series with Sonic and the Secret Rings, and once again, hopes skyrocketed.

This game reached North American shelves on March 3rd, 2009. It was received much like Sonic and the Secret Rings; not great, but good. This was a welcome change from the last game. A nice mix of combat and speed once again breathed a little life back into our blue friend.
Recently, Sonic has met a series of crushing defeats, kept only alive by a decent game every now and then. Nothing shows my feeling quite like this next picture (start at the top of the circle):
(Click the picture if you can't read the text)
So, how long do you think Sonic can last? What he's doing right now won't cut it; we'll all just have to hope that SEGA can make a good Sonic game, or he'll be forever lost.
A little (?) something I wrote for NoobFeed.
See it here. You may have to make a profile to see it, but you should have a NoobFeed profile anyway. ![]()
Alex is a BAMF and Viola's broken (or: Prototype and Eternal Sonata Impressions)
Whew, I stretched every last character space for that title. ![]()
So, yep. Prototype and Eternal Sonata... two recent acquisitions of mine, and two of the best games I've ever played. Read on for details.
Prototype
10/10
Generic-looking action game, maybe... but this game is incredibly fun. A large, open environment, plenty of upgrades, and a wide variety of abilities make this game a must-have for any fans of free-roaming games.
Pretty much, the game follows the story of Alex Mercer, or the "Prototype". Long story short, he had some testing done on him, and now he can shape his limbs into anything, consume anyone, and become anyone he's consumed (thus acquiring any of their abilities, memories, and whatever they were holding). The game sends you on a bunch of missions usually based around killing everything in sight, as well as some light infiltration missions. This game is pure, mindless fun, and one of the best times you'll have in a game.
As the title of this blog says, Alex is a BAMF. Look it up here if you don't know what a BAMF is.
Eternal Sonata
10/10
This, I never expected. Hell, I didn't even know of this game's existance until recently. This game is an RPG that follows the events of a crazy dream that the famous composer Frederic Chopin is having (I won't go into details for spoiler's sake). Oddly reminiscent of the old RPG Grandia II.
Eternal Sonata blends turn-based strategy, real-time strategy, and action gameplay into one with an innovative battle syetem. The strange visuals, incredible music direction, and the unforgettable cast of characters really make this game stand out among others in the genre.
As this blog title implies, one of the characters you get to use, Viola, is completely broken. She can attack at any range, heall all your party members at once, and has unbelievable attack at loner ranges... easily the strongest and my favorite of the characters.
That's about it for now. Here's your pic; a funny and incredibly well-drawn pic of Samus in her Light Suit (minus the helmet). See you all soon. ![]()
E3 '09 Nintendo Conference
Wow... just wow. This has been an amazing year for E3 so far. So how did Nintendo fare? Well, I'll leave it to my list of hilghlights to answer that.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
My hype factor: 9.5/10
Flash back a couple years. "New Super Mario Bros." comes out for the DS, and long-time 2-D Mario fans everywhere are pleased. Now comes E3 '09, and a new game on that idea has been announced for the Wii. With all the features of older games, NSMBW has gone for the throat of the co-op community with the ability to play with 4 people simultaneously. It looks incredibly fun, though a little hectic at times. This will hit shelves around the Holidays this year; and expect it to rake in a huge amount of money for Nintendo.
Wii Sports Resort + Wii Motion Plus
My hype factor: 8.5/10
The Wii Motion Plus. A Wiimote attachment that will turn the Wii into what it was supposed to be. Every tiny movement will be read by this device, and you'll see the effects on-screen. This will be bundled with Wii Sports Resort, the sequel to the amazing game. Expect it to be just as fun as the original. This hits shelves on June 27, I believe (it may have been July)
Kingdom Hearts Wii
My hype factor: 10/10
Very little was shown; but what was shown was incredible. We even got a glimpse at a four-player split-screen mode. All your favorite characters are back, and some new faces have surfaced as well. Keep an eye on this game.
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
My hype factor: 8/10
Coming to North America and Europe this fall, another Mario & Luigi game. Another RPG. If you haven't tried the Mario & Luigi series yet, now's your chance. We weren't shown much, but it looks to be similar to the earlier Mario & Luigi titles.
Golden Sun DS
My hype factor: 10/10
After lying in wait for six years, the epic Golden Sun RPG franchise has surfaced again, this time on the DS. All we were shown was about fifteen seconds of gameplay, but it looks a lot like the Golden Sun we all know and love. Or, at least some of us know.
Super Mario Galaxy 2
My hype factor: 10/10
What is there to say? More Galaxy. More Mario. More Rosalina. And also Yoshi. I'm definitely getting this one. Expect this to hit stores early/mid 2010.
The Conduit
My hype factor: 9/10
Now THIS, I didn't see coming. Not once until E3 did I hear ANYTHING about this game. A Halo-esque FPS that looks, surprisingly, good.
I'll be keeping an eye on this hidden gem.
Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
My hype factor: 9/10
Again, not much else to say. This follows Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield in another of their adventures. Seems to be more similar to RE4, but with more of the feel of the older RE games.
Metriod: Other M
My hype factor: >9000/10
The Team Ninja intro shows. A blonde woman walks around some people in military outfits, and walks up to a man. The man looks at her and says, "Any objections, Lady?" That's when I knew this was a Metroid game; that woman was Samus Aran, and the man was Adam Malkovich.
I'll admit; like BrunoBRS, I too was shrieking like a little girl when I saw this.
If I had to only pick one of all of these games, of both Nintendo and Microsoft, this would be it. Nintendo had been criticized recently for having few violent, more mature-oriented games. So, what do you do? You give Retro Studios the boot, and call in Team Ninja. Yes, Team Ninja. The guys that gave us Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive. Other M was shown to have many different styIes of gameplay; from 2-D action, to first-person shooting, to third-person action. The influence of Team Ninja is clearly shown in the action sequences. This is the must-buy for the Wii, I can already tell.
My only disappointments were a lack on details of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, lack of details on Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver, and no sign of a new Zelda game for the Wii.
So, with all that, I believe Nintendo had just as good, if not better of a conference than Microsoft had. Sony will need a miracle to top these.
Pic here, see you all soon.
EDIT: Also, see my Microsoft E3 impressions here.
