My First Performance (by CoB8Slipknot)

Sweet, today I played my first ever show. It was a battle of the bands and it was sweet. We only had like 10 minutes, and we only played three cover songs, and we didn't win, but that's cool. We still played, which is what matters.

It's pretty nerve-racking getting ready to step onstage for your first show. But man, once you get on and look at the crows the tension fades and you just play...not being able to see the audience helps alot too

So we played 8th out of 9, and we covered "Cold Shot" by Stevie Ray Vaughan, "Swing life Away" by rise Against, and did a small instrumental (Chuck Berry Style). For being the youngest people and the youngest band there we did really well, atleast that's what everyone told us.

 So yeah....it was fun.

Pan's Labyrinth

Possibly one of THE most disturbing film's I have ever watched.

Nonsensical, Un-needed violent/graphic images followed by an obtrusive plot. Not my cup of tea.

I wouldn't say it's a bad movie, but I wouldn't say i particularily enjoyed watching it...

It didn't make a lot of sense to me, if you guys have seen it what do you think?

And WHY am I so happy?

After many delays...two weeks of delays...my best buy order has FINALLY come through and arrived to my palms.

So, in my possession I now have:

Opeth - Orchid

Opeth - Ghost Reveries

Opeth - Live Lamentations (DVD)

Yeah, I know, I know, I pwn you, but let's keep that to ourselves.

Orchid, I had herd dispersed songs every now and then...but hering the entire collaboration all at once...was a nonexistant-God Send. It is the SINGLE greatest piece of work I have ever laid my grubby little hands on. I love it. There are like less then no lyical aspects and it still owns at life. The atmosphere of the album, was great, obviously added to the songs.

Haven't listened to GR as of yet but I have watched like half of Live Lamentations, and overall so far it's a rather nice DVD but they should've mixed it up rather than having all of the softer set first followed by their heavier stuff afterwards, it would have mad it a tad more lively rather than forcing you to hold on...you know the heavy set is coming...but it always seems to be so far away...

Come What(ever) May

Everyone seems to be saying that Come What(ever) May (Stone Sour's second, and most recent album) is not as good as their self entitled.

I must disagree, if anything it's better....ALOT better. It's a more redifined sound, and it's really good. On their first album songs like Take A Number and Inhale were the only ones that I felt were really really well done. The others were good but not as intriguing. On the new album, songs like SillyWorld, 30/30-150, Reborn, Zzyzx Rd, Socio...a bunch of them are really, REALLY well done.

My thoughts on the album, what about you?

They are a good band, what caught my attention for them was The Glorius Burden. I think their song writing on this album is very well done. Especially so, in the song When The Eagle Cries. This is their best song on the album.

All in all, I dont have alot to say about them, but they are a good band.

These guys are just plain amazing. There isnt much that needs to be said, other than Opeth has to be one of the greatest bands ever.

I listened to it, and thought this isnt bad. Then I went back and listened to Nymphetamine and thought that Thornography was definatly not as good.

I prefer Nymphetamine over Thornography, but Thornography was still well done.

Cradle of Filth Hard Rock/Metal

I honestly think that Cradle of Filth is amazing. I've only heard one of their albums and I already consider them one of my favorite Artists. I figure that If they can make that much of an impact on me with only 14 songs, then they must be quite good. I can't wait to try out the rest of their music, I heard From Cradle to the Enslaved and it was awesome too.

Dani's ability to grunt and screech I find comes in very handy with his songs. There are times when the songs need a more intense background which is where his screaming comes in. But then, in the cracks and crevices of his songs comes his grunting, ehich fits the mood perfectly for him to just burst right out and start screaming.

It's odd, I usually can't stand bands with that high of screaching, or even just constant screaching/grunting, but these guys seem to be really awesome.

I've heard tons of critiques on these guys, some good some bad, and I have to say these guys have the most split down the center feelings about them, that I've seen. People always say "Well, you either love a band or you hate them." And I've always trusted that, but too many times have people said that and then said, "well this band is ok, i dont hate them but they aren't awesome." Not once have I ever heard someone say that they were just okay. I've only ever heard, "Yeah those guys are amazing!" or "I hate Cradle of Filth."

The guitar work/drums/keyboard doesn't seem to be that complicated and it doesn't stand right out. But their playing is great, it suits their songs well and gives them the perfect background for each one.

These are my thoughts.

Disturbed Rock/Pop

When I first heard Disturbed's Down With The Sickness, I knew I had to ehar more of this band. It was one of the greatest things I ahd ehar (at the time) and I thought that the rest of the songs would be better or the same. When I finished listening to Ten Thousand Fists album, I felt content and disappointed at the same time. The songs were all well done, and they were catchy. The kind of catchy that gets stuck in your head. But I was also a little upset with it. A lot of the songs sounded the same. The same guitar sounds, the same vocal (how many words are said at a time, pattern)and the drumming was a lot the same. Disturbed has great song writing ability, but they could expand on their sound to make it a whole lot better. They are on their third album, and I feel that they still have untapped potential. Disturbed is capable of more, which is something, seeing as they are so good already. Draiman's mix of grunts and clean vocals are catchy. It is easy to understand what he is saying, making the song all the more enjoyable. His vocal effects (eg. Down With The Sickness) are great and definatly improve the songs.
