Looking on ebay for a PS3 today is a very scary thought. The prices are averaging...AVERAGING at over double the retail price. now, what happens when xmas get closer and all those moms and dads have to get one before thier little kid tears the house down...they go to the one place that is always in stock. ebay. i want to hazard a guess at the average price of winning a PS3 will be through out the month of December. The demand in the market will be extremely high and the supply from Sony will be entirely too low (around 400,000 at launch and another 100,000 before xmas).
waiting in line early on Nov 17 this year will be a good investment. pick up a PS3 at best buy where you know they will be in stock. wait for 3 weeks. reap HUGE rewards on ebay. supply and demand. period.
now the nintendo Wii caught me by surprise. i am a big nintendo fan boy and i have been looking forward to this system for a long time. but i never thought it would catch on in the way that it has. after changing the name to "Wii," i thought nintendo shot themselves in the foot. but, luckily, analysts have grown to like the name and the forecasts look really really good for the big N.
i have looked at the demand for Wii's on ebay too. to my astonishment, the prices are rounding out at about double the retail price. after getting my hands on a Wii here in Atlanta during the nintendo fusion tour, i support the positive outlook 100%. once best buy and toys r us get the Wii into stores for parents and kids to play, there is no telling how fast they will sell out. and with 2 million units coming this holiday season, i predict a frenzy for Wii's that will lead to shortages in all major retailers.
look back for more opinons as i keep up with the market reaction to Wii and PS3 news.
