!!! (pronounced "chk chk chk") is a very interesting rarity. Part of the ever-growing punk-funk scene, they are succcessful in delivering infectious beats, but lyrics which will leave you feeling stupid. Keep in mind, however, this is dance music, so the lyrics are almost a tool to keep everything in beat, rather than have some deep, philosophical meaning.
"When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Karazze" (different pronounciation of 'crazy', sadly that took a while for me to figure out) is no anomaly to the !!! formula. It's a very satisfying mix of disco, electronic, guitars, and some punk thrown in there as well.
At first listen it may seem like a messy mix of different beats and sounds that's overlayered as well as overwhelming. But you shouldn't give it up then, give it, as well as the rest of the album, a few listen-throughs. It's been criticized for being alot of filler, but while there is clearly some, I think most of it is what it's supposed to be - music you'll want to dance to.
At first, the song will seem repetitive, until your timer hits 2 minutes, 48 seconds. Then the pulsating beat is dropped on you like a bomb, and the song redeems itself. Very nice introduction to the rest of the album, of course. The momentum isn't fully carried throughout the album, or even the song, but it's all packed full of grooves that you'll be wanting to shake it all night long to.
One thing you might notice, is everything used is used in a way resembling percussion. The vocals even sound like they're put there merely to add variety and keep the beat, and it does that extremely well.
All in all, this song is very successful in setting the tone of the album, and is irresistible to any fan of dance music. Keep your ears open for this one in the clubs.

As the opening song of Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, it almost seems to come off TOO strong. A bit of arrogance in the tone, considering with their previous album they haven't particularly proved themselves, at least with the critics, and for them to go all out right at the beginning and pull the emotion, loud instruments, and passionate vocals right off the bat. It almost feels like an anthem saying that this album will indeed be sweet revenge to what I feel was a poorly received first album.
When most bands seem to have a "sophmore slump", this song sets the tone for the whole album, and is incredible and the exact opposite of a slump. Infact, it will be very hard to top this in the next album. The song itself, has harmonic voices in the background, which gives it a nice effect, and the song seems to grow on you in its catchy lyrics and prominent guitar and drums, which probably aren't the most skillful uses of them, but they're definately effective and do well for the song. In the end, this is easily one of the highlights on 3 Cheers.

First of all, I would like to shoot all of the fans of Green Day who act like they're the newest thing. They've been there. Maybe it's just at my school, but people never heard of Green Day until now.
One review actually said that Boulevard of Broken Dreams is Green Day's only good song. Let's take a trip to around 10 years ago. Back when Green Day released albums like Dookie and Nimrod, which are some of my favorite albums ever.
Okay, now we see Green Day getting into this political garbage, which I honestly don't want ruining my music, since no matter which party you pick about 50% of the listeners are going to be pissed off about it. Just lay off the politics.
Perhaps it's just the overall ignorant fanbase that causes me to refuse to give them higher than 4 stars, but any band that wants to use their popularity as a tool to voice out their opinion is trash to me, and the shoe fits for the current Green Day.

This is probably my favorite song to listen to when I'm sad. The first 3 minutes are not only beautiful in music, but if you listen to the lyrics they are not only extremely touching but you can almost feel the singer's pain. Now, 3 minutes into the song it completely changes not only tempo but lyrics, where it changes from an apologetic and pitiful feel to a "don't mess with me" feel, as if the singer changed point of views throughout the song. The overall feel of it creates a masterpiece that is one of my favorite songs ever.

At first glance, Let's Take Our Time looks like another cliche pop song about how he's about to have sex. Well, for the most part this first glance is right.
What sets the song reasonably apart from everything else is how Ryan Cabrera can make his lyrics good and catchy, but my only problem with his lyrics is how he only included two verses, which are short verses at that, and the rest of the song is his chorus. Now, when 59% of the song is made up of the chorus though, that's when I begin to dislike it.
In the end, Let's Take Our Time will be loved if you're one of those people into the mainstream pop love stuff. If you have a reasonable amount of taste, however, then this song won't be your favorite of the bunch.
